He has only lost one of his games in charge and that was ref assisted. I am not in the 'we will win them all' camp but to go for more than 2 defeats in 5 is not realistic either.

The first time we will see a proper Ramos/Poyet/Avarez setup can only be this weekend as they have a full week to train the boys in their philosophy. I am confident and think that 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat will happen in the run. Swapping a draw for a win is also possible, but I have a sneaky feeling that we will all be very happy at the end of the run.

Sometimes you have to leave your heart behind if you want to be realistic about predicting our final placing.

At the moment i go with Ramos idea that we should first avoid the drop.

We may be 11pts behind Blackburn, but more seriously we are 2pts above relegation.

We need guts and determination at Pompey. And as always, a little bit of luck.

A result there could start to change the picture, but we should have started at least 2 weeks ago if we have any aspirations of getting European footy next season.

More importantly a result there will aid us in our escape from relegation.

All we have to do this season as fans is to put hope of European spots aside and get behind the team.

And we can certainly raise our hopes a little for cup games, and here I add that we are still, proudly, in all competitions despite everything.

Next season however........we will expect a difference. A bigger difference than that which we expected this season.

How will you all cope??

lets not forget the January sales. I honestly, despite Wendy saying otherwise, we will be signing people and letting people go!!

It's a nasty set of away games. I'm normally stupidly optimistic but just can't see us getting a point at Pompey or the scum. My gooner in-laws keep baiting me to join them in the box they've got access to at the Emirshites. It would be wrong for so many reasons... Anyway, I digress.

If we do manage to get a point or four in those two away fixtures though I agree with the above comment that it could really be a launch pad to scrap up the League in Jan and Feb. After that, the run in doesn't look too shabby for a team with confidence....

i dare you to go and take a piss in the corner - then take a photo and post on here...

anything can happen

Clearly the truest comment here and mainly because as we know the Spurs are so unpredictable this year.

But...of these next 5 games:

Pompey Away: Tough game but then again they have had something like 4 or 5 0-0 draws at FP while winning 6 on the trot away - who knows maybe a mental block for them and we always look like scoring. Can (best case) seeing us 3 points there.

Arse Away: They have their best players largely back, we have Robbie back and maybe Ledders. Realistically - nil point.

Fulham / Reading (home): despite our season so far despite some awful home results I reckon enough to take the 6 points especially after morale boosting win over City. We killed BCFC and were very unlucky and were unbeaten in 6 before that don’t forget (yes, weak teams but still)

Villa (away): Take a point but Villa will be after a result and reckon they’ll get it.

So my prediction: 9 points

As for Europe – small chance, we need a cup run

I'm expecting 4 points from those games, and Spurs to be in dire straights early in the new year. However, I think after February we will take advantage of the easier fixture run and climb the table, and end up finishing around 10th-12th.

I don't think there's any risk of relegation, but I think things will get worse (in the immediate future - Christmas/New Year) before they get better, and because of that, people will start to panic.

These five games are a bit crucial for the players as well - come January i get the impression there'll be a few out the door, so they're going to want to play their best to make sure they aren't anywhere near that list.

I suppose there's a little piece of me want's us to just shut up shop til the new year and do a sort of reshuffle, a fresh start to the season for the new year, as it were - just have to get there with as little damage as possible.

Right now, every team that faces us is going to be expecting a reasonable chance of taking home the points. It gives them confidence and, with our record for conceding late goals, it gives them an incentive to keep pushing right to the final whistle, so right now we need to stop that leaky defence and concentrate on just getting past these five games.

As most on here have said, i don't think we'll be anywhere near the relegation fight come the spring, but there's a lot of work to be done and we can't expect to start winning games if we don't get over these crazy poor defending shenanigans...

Dawson, shape up, mate - you and Lee are carrying the back line til King gets back and he's a little guy, he can't do it on his own

With our shaky defence I find it difficult to see us getting anything against Pompey and Arse. But we should take all 3 points against Fulham and Reading + at least 1 point against Villa.

So I predict 7 points. I hope it will be 10.

We are so unpredictable it's unreal. Despite doing really badly in the league so far we have only been really outplayed by the Arse. Even at Old Trafford and Anfield we matched them and could easily come out with 3 or 4 poiints. Defensive errors have cost us dearly and to be at the top we really need our strikers firing on full cyclinders but they've all been guilty of missing costly chances.

Hate to say it but we've punched well above our weight if we get anything at The Emirates, it's possible but not likely. The other four we are just as capable of getting points out of all them just as we are capable of tamely handing them easy points.

If we can get 7-8 points out those 5 games we should be happy.

We are in a relegation fight. That's the truth at the moment, look at the table. Whether we are still in a relegation fight in 5 or 10 or 20 matches is another matter, but right now we're down there, just a few points above 17th. Whatever expectations fans had at the beginning of the season need to be scrapped. We've lost a manager, the players are woefully short of confidence and we're leaking goals all over the place. I'm not interested in talking about Europe or how far we are off Arsenal or whatever - all I want from this season is to stay in the Premier League. Ideally, I'd like to see us build up momentum under Ramos, and if we are a Premier League team next season then we can start plotting for Europe.

Some of you may think I'm being hysterical or unduly pessimistic. I'm not. I don't think we'll get relegated but looking at the results and performances so far this season, it's definitely possible that we'll go down. We score goals but we let in more goals. More importantly, even when we're playing rubbish teams at home, we don't look certain to win. If Ramos can sort out the defence then we should finish mid-table, but it's not like the team has come on in leaps and bounds since he's joined.

So, a point away at Pompey would be very nice. I can't see us getting anything at Arsenal. 4 points from the two home games is probably realistic. I can't see us winning both of them because I can't see us keeping clean sheets.

well said - we're in a relegation fight until we're out of it. As I said elesewhere I was disappointed that Boro beat Arsenal and Reading beat Pool - I'm worried about where we are now and getting clear of it - not how many points we're gonna finish behind the big 4
