Trubisky named starter in Chicago

They should keep Glennon on the field for now, and let Trubisky learn the system while he waits on the sideline. I can see Trubisky being the latest in a long line of QBs who've been played before they should have been (simply because his predecessor was lousy) and beaten up because they don't get the protection they need.

Really not sure what to make of this. The general reaction in Chicago seems to be "About bloody time" but I'm not so sure this is the right thing for Trubisky's development. Yes, Glennon has been shit, but he is far from the only reason the Bears are bad. I'm worried that just throwing in Trubisky now to get killed every week is just going to destroy his confidence. He seems like a real talent and seems to have a good head on his shoulders but let's not forget he barely even has experience at college level. He's gone from High School level to starting in the NFL in the space of 13 starts and I'm not sure if this is all just too much too quickly.

From high school to NFL starter in the space of just 13 college starts? I'd say that's too much too soon. Maybe his college coach could have done him a favour by redshirting him for a year of watching, listening and learning and giving him the starting job for longer, but it's too late for that now. Chicago fans seem to have unrealistic and unfair expectations of Trubisky if they think someone so raw can come in and perform miracles as the new starter.

That's what worries me. There are clearly going to be teething problems and I don't trust the coaching staff to manager this well. Given how much he's being hyped up there's a strong chance he'll perform a lot lower than the hyped up expectations being placed on him, in which case I really hope the fans don't start getting on his back as it could destroy him. With all the receivers either terrible or injured, and a fairly poor team in most positions, I struggle to see how throwing the kid into this shitshow is going to miraculously make anything better. Seems more like Fox/Pace are trying to curry favour with the fans to save their own necks rather than do what's right for Trubisky

Someone I was listening to on the radio summed it up best for me. He said if Fox is putting Trubisky in because he believes he's ready to play in the NFL then he's all for it, but if he's putting him in just because he doesn't want to play Glennon, then it's a mistake. Pretty much how I feel.

Raiders coaching leaves a lot to be desired - poor play calling from Ken Norton Jnr has plagued us for too long and our secondary is being burned literally every fucking week.

Something needs to change or this season's ambitions can easily slip away very quickly

Whoever called a passing play just before Dak scored the touchdown should be fired.

That person is so stupid, the plan to run the ball and milk the clock was working FFS.

Broken ankle for OBJ - yikes!
Yeah, my fantasy season is now officially over...

Also Big Ben had five interceptions yesterday (two for touchdowns) and his answer in the press conference afterward was 'Maybe I don't have it anymore'. After how much better the Steelers defence looks this year, the fact that the franchise quarterback is so lacking in fight after a bad day is a worrying sign - time to tank the season for a draft pick QB?

Woo.....saved by my kicker rolling up 21 pts to win this week.

Think next week will be grim though.

The way Ajayi's contributing to my fantasy team this season he's going to somehow end up on defence for one play against Tampa and put Jameis Winston on IR. I'm nearly at the stage where I'm giving serious thoughts to benching him for the fourth string RB at the 0-5 Giants.

0-5 in our league!!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

On the flip side, I am now 4-1 in my money league off this win and during a week where i was sure id lose thanks to byes.

But on the kill me side, Watt and Mercilus are done for the year. Cushings on yet another 10 game suspension. Doing great here, Texans! If we make the playoffs, it'll be on the backs of Deshaun Watson and Deandre Hopkins.

I was going to tag you in a post and say what the fuck is going on with the Raiders? 2 wins, 3 straight defeats...this is more autumn turd than autumn wind. Any more of this and the ghost of Al Davis will be shitting in players helmets. I thought the team made decent moves over the summer but something sucks. Chargers up next so hopefully the team can put something together.

Mate, it really doesn't look like improving and it's not even hugely dependent on Carr's return.

Play-calling has been bad for some time now defensively but considering we've gone from having one of the best, if not the best O-Line to now what resembles a sieve coupled with Cooper's regression has made us hugely disjointed from an offensive point of view.

Defence has continued to be poor giving up so many big plays and yardage and one feels Ken Norton Jnr is very much in the firing line as there's little to no improvement from last year in this regards. D-Line is a joke as per (with the obvious exception of Mack) and just not enough quality at LB which is leaving our secondary exposed far too often. Karl Joseph has been the bright spot but when your SS is leading the tackle count it doesn't point to a positive outcome.

I think the only thing more worrying than Ben's comments was the play calling. We were playing a defence that is the second worst against the run and the fifth best against the pass so we pretty much abandoned the ground game in order to focus on throwing it. I think we ran it fewer times than Fournette did by himself.

Decent debut for Trubisky in the end although not the fairytale many were hoping for. Probably cost us the game with his interception late on but he'll learn from that and took ownership of it in his presser afterwards so you've got to respect that. He's learned the hard way that you can't force plays in the NFL, especially inside your own 30 so next time he'll know to throw it away. All in all he did more right than wrong and a couple of big mistakes are only to be expected given how little experience he has even at college level, let alone the NFL.

Regardless, it's good to have something to get excited about watching the Bears again. We're clearly still a long way from being a playoff team but watching Trubisky grow will be a lot more entertaining than just going through the motions with Cutler year after year

Hell of an interception return by Adrian Amos to give the Bears an 11 point lead.

Elsewhere it looks like Aaron Rodgers is done for the season due to a broken collarbone.
