He is still the greatest player in the world, though other players are closer to him than they were when he was in his prime.

Britain is back among the big boys!

An equalising goal with 15.8 seconds left in regulation has sent GB to the top flight of ice hockey for the first time since 1994.

Incredible performance by the guys to come back from 2-0 down. This along with Notts's champions league campaign it's great to see British ice hockey improving.

Caps about to finish off Tampa Bay and get to the finals. Great old school fight between Coburn and Wilson, too

As you can see they had both just served minors for a scuffle and wasted no time getting after it.

Absolutely loved seeing that fight, Hope Ovechkin finally wins a Cup he deserves one. And the whole Caps team committing to blocking shots was impressive, pretty sure one guy blocked one with the back of his head.

I'm glad to see Ovi get his ring and finally get to lift the greatest trophy in sports.

That gave me goosebumps even though I had no rooting interest in the series.

It's great to see him lift the cup after so many excellent regular season successes. It was awesome to see how emotional he was on the bench during the game, he was jumping up and down etc... The astonishing thing for me was how many shots he blocked in the playoffs (didn't watch much of the regular season).

Is there any team in any other sport that are more "Spursy" than the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Once again they manage to blow it in the play offs.

So im a Montreal Canadiens fan - im not the biggest NHL fan but do like Montreal hence ive gone for the Canadiens - I do have a question though.... the 7 game series etc - how is it decided who plays the 7th game at home if it gets there? or rather how are the 7 games split and how is it decided who gets four games at home if it gets there? or is it a case of the luck of the draw who gets home first?

The play-offs are played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format, meaning the team with home-ice advantage hosts games 1, 2, 5, and 7, while their opponents hosts games 3, 4, and 6.

How home-ice adv is determined depends on which stage of the play-offs the tie is being played. In the first two rounds of the play-offs, home-ice adv is determined by seeding - i.e. 4th seed plays 1st seed, 3rd plays 2nd. Once the play-offs reaches the Conference Finals, home-ice adv is determined by regular-season record.

Love the 2-2-1-1-1 format. So much better than 2-3-2 which skews toward the away team(imo). 2-2-1-1-1 allows home ice/court/field advantage on game 7s to mean that much more & is probably the most level way to do it. In 232, the home team is likelier to be under immense pressure in game 6 which makes game 7 harder. 22111 splits the pressure more evenly in the if necessary elim’s.
