Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, get me the brandy!

My mates been going on for ages about how the Ducks are the best team in the NHL this year. He was less vocal when we scored our sixth.

Wings have been playing nice hockey this season. They've just come through a big road trip with aplomb and its refreshing to see the kids coming through and playing a big part - Tatar, Sheahan, Nyqvist have all become important, Mrazek has filled in well for Howard etc etc. Could be the most enjoyable season in a while if the oldies can stay fitter than they have in recent seasons

Not NHL, but took my 8 yr old to our first ice hockey game on Saturday night - MK Lightning v Manchester Phoenix.
Absolute cracker of a game, with Lightning taking a 3-0 first period lead, before blowing it to be 4-3 down midway through the 3rd.
Turned it around to win 5-4!
Superb atmosphere too
Will definitely be going back.

Hockey is most definitely one of the fastest moving (and most entertaining to watch) sports.

Watching hockey on TV I just cant appreciate the flow of the game and the passing and goals, It goes too fast and the puck is too small so I cant watch it. Live in an arena though the experience is 10 times different. I used to see my local team Frolunda Indians and in the NHL I support the Penguins (love it when I manage to stay up when we play Philadelphia, but the time difference just kills me.

This playoff battle is crazy! We were unlucky to lose that thriller to the Jets :(

Wings Lightning poised at 1-1. We'll do well to come through this tbh.

Also, don't like The Captain being GM of the opposing team it just feels plain wrong !!

Went to watch MK Lightning again at the weekend.
Absolutely cracking atmosphere.
We sat right above the benches, on the front row, so were privy to everything that was going on.
As it was a local derby (Peterborough Phantoms), to say it got a bit heated is an understatement.
Their keeper came out and completely body checked an MK player, which should have been a penalty, but ref said not.
At that point it all kicked off between players, coaches and so on.
We head the Phantoms coach yell at his players "take their fucking heads off", so it was a nice case of karma when 30 seconds later one of their players was hit in the head by the puck.

Zucca's back and Rangers beat the Champions. Great opening day.

Honestly think you'd struggle to find a hockey fan here in Norway who isn't a Rangers fan because of Zuccarello.

Being Canadian on my dad's side, I've been to a few hockey matches over the years, I feel it's such a better sport to watch when you're there, and it loses so much on the TV. The speed, the hits and sounds just don't translate as well on the box.

Yeah, been a couple of times now with my boy.
Last time we went, the wife and daughter also came, but the wife struggled to get into it.
However, we dragged her along again on Saturday and she absolutely loved it.
Combination of being correctly prepared for the cold, and also being sat above the player benches.
She can't wait to go again!

Oh, yeah, you need the proper apparel - hats, gloves, scarves, and hip-flask with a wee nip in.
