The looks on some of these kids faces are priceless.

And while I'm here...I always thought David Luiz was a bit of an arse, but I'm beginning to change my mind. Although I reckon the wee fella he's with is a better footballer! (edit: that might sound bad, but check out the kid's keepy-up skills.)

I've always seen David Luiz as exactly that type of person that would spread a bit of joy around d him.

A friend of mine, his 10-year old stepson unfortunately has cancer and the Make-A-Wish foundation are organising for him and his family to go to the Nou Camp to watch el classico, he will walk out onto the pitch with Messi and then after the game he'll get to meet Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez, Bale and Messi. However they said meeting Messi is 50:50 as he doesn't like to do things like that. Twat.
Messi would do well to remember that if he weren't an exceptionally good footballer (and footie isn't that important in the big scheme of things), he'd be a nobody, with a bank account/lifestyle to match. If he comes from one of the really rough neighbourhoods (and I wouldn't be surprised if he does), there's a fair chance he'd have been involved in gangs and been murdered in their turf wars or been sent away for a stretch for his gang activities., Yes, Senor Messi, a bit of humility and gratitude wouldn't go amiss.

Rumour has it Messi is a arsehole off the pitch, and its made out as though Ronaldo is the bad guy, for me on the pitch i prefer Messi over Ronaldo, but from the work Ronaldo does off the pitch and gestures he makes, the stick he gets doesnt sit right with me.

What's worse is that the kid absolutely idolises Messi, so if Messi says no it'll probably break his heart.

I know for a fact that Messi is one of the nicest and most obliging of footballers, going out of his way to accomodate fans.
He did this with my wife's cousin in South America, away from the press, totally genuine.

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to all the Irish guys who have been in Vienna last weekend. Working in a Pub myself, it was a real pleasure having you all there, drinking and partying all night without causing any Trouble whatsoever. I don't think I have ever seen so many drunk people in such a friendly Atmosphere! Hope you all have a Safe Journey back!

And in the odd chance the one guy who started a War with the beermats in the back room of our Pub read this, "YOU DO IN NUFFN!" :D

That's nice to hear, but I'm surprised that Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane are so relaxed about the squad going out drinking.

Messi was reluctant. Heard before he's not the nicest guy. And CRonaldo who I never used to like I've heard is really decent... so what a shit judge of character am I?!

Yip, I've heard this too from my Spanish friends.

That is good to hear. A few of my Spanish friends are in media (radio, TV & films etc...) so maybe they don't see his best side.

Sorry but this is good business, not charity. They will make a fortune off affordable housing. Just ask some of our clients who are in the same business.

I am cynical enough to see that a lot of charitable involvement is business related, just hopefully they make it affordable. Plenty of development that have to have a percentage of affordable housing and attempt to section off areas etc.

law says the % of affordable housing is 50% (I believe) but it is usually negotiated down to 30% or less

Behind the scenes, clubs and individual players are often involved in all kinds of local community activities and groups as well as visiting sick children in hospital. It goes on all year round and apart from an occasional photocall is largely overlooked. It's good work from the clubs who encourage this outreach work.

Yep I remember when I worked at Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton, I occasionally saw some of the Chelsea squad (around 2005/2006) in there visiting patients in the amputee rehab centre. No media or anything, they were just doing it to brighten up the day of a few youngsters who were going through a shitty time. Robert Huth was one who was there regularly.
