A lot of them are trickier than people think.

Son - have to worry about his Korean military commitment

Dembele and Vertonghen - Age is becoming a factor

Toby - we have seen how tricky his contract can be - he knows this is his best chance at a huge contract.

Lamela - so many injury conditions to consider - back and hips.

Walker-Peters - Is he going to step up and take Trippier's place? When he does that, I am sure a new contract is coming. If he does not do that, I would imagine a sale - as I doubt KWP wants to stay here forever as a 3rd RB.

Verts has been pretty much a rock of a signing, improving even now. Id happily hvae him retire with us. The rest I agree with.

I highly doubt son will have to do military service, it makes no sense for South Korea to make their national superstar waste two years of an already short career fucking around at an army base or something.

If he did it at 28, which is when he would if he had to, then he'd miss the 2022 World Cup which would be stupid and in no way beneficial for South Korea.

They'll find some way to excuse him even if they don't win the Asian games

EDIT- you actually have until you're 35 so it's not a problem at all

Exactly, it would just be scandalous to take someone that high profile who must be doing wonders for their profile as a country out of their job for 2 years.
Does anyone know if any Korean has been pardoned from this or at least deferred it before?

Ki from Swansea had to do 4 weeks service during a summer but that was because he won Olympic medal.

Park from United was exempt due to his World Cup duty.

You have until you’re 30 so there’s no rush

According to Wikipedia and a few other places online you have until you're 35, which would mean it's not really a problem at all

With Verts I don't think its a matter of Spurs not wanting him - its more about getting the years right on the deal. Verts will want as long a deal as he can get, Spurs would probably prefer shorter-term deals. I imagine the solution is a short-term deal with club/player options.

Yeah that's not an issue. The only minor effect would be a smaller sell on value when he comes toward the end of his career. I'm sure he will go off and do it when he's 33/35. We should therefore have no doubts about offering him a bumper 5 year deal imo. Same applies to Eriksen as well, there is an argument that he's our most important player.

Think we should sign up Verts until he's 33/34 in 2020 or 2021 but wouldn't be too sure about renewing Mousa's considering his fitness. I think it may be a case of him proving his fitness in the last year of his contract next season.

We all know the issue with Toby's so hopefully we can just come to an agreement on that one.

Quite a lot to do though tbf.

Imo we need new contracts for Verts, Eriksen, Son and Toby with raises/extensions for Dele and Kane. Anything else I think would be a bonus apart from Sissoko and Llorente.

Totally agree we will never be assemble a team like this just by splashing the cash. Fuck the banks need to start being a bit more realistic with the starting 11 players. Get your wallet out you bald gnomey bastard

Make no bones about it, if any player gets a bumper deal way above Harry, his agent will be knocking that door down and rightly so. He may love the club but that shouldn't ever be taken advantage of. He knows his worth.

He might not be. But he might ask questions if Son is getting more then him

Kane will be well aware that the next contract he signs will make him the highest paid player in Spurs' history, regardless of what anyone else is on.

I wonder if we're ramping up contract negotiations now because over the last few weeks we've had a rather steady stream of news stories about upcoming player contracts. Agents generally tend to be more chirpy about it. At the bare minimum we've had some degree of news regarding Poch, Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Toby, and Lamela positive or negative aside.

This is the order the players should be paid starting with the most taking into consideration ability, age and status

I've put them in 5 categories

8. Rose
9. Dier

I would be inclined to put Jan and Dembele into the category above based on Jan being a great player and servant and very trouble-free. Dembele deserves it but its hard to justify based on injury concern. Maybe a short term contract increase and bump him up.

Sissoko is where your theory is flawed as he is already on 90k by all accounts in the news..I very much doubt you could give footballers a pay cut whilst they are at the same club. If you're saying he doesnt deserve more than 50k most people would agree but theres no way you would be able to move him into a lower category without moving him out of the club completely..(here's hoping)!
