In this bartering system where a win pays for a defeat then they must be of equal value. So the two wins against Chelsea and Inter leave the club in credit after the one defeat at Arsenal. Going back the last 10 days, the players actually owe us a defeat against Southampton. In fact, over Poch’s reign they have won far more games than they have lost so they owe us a string of defeats to balance the books.

In conclusion. This system of justification is shit.

This sort of bollocks is so cringey.

Constant moaning of fans being treated like customers, but thats exactly how a lot of them behave.
Owed?...I just hope the OP kept his receipt.

I'm surprised how many people see it that the players didn't turn up. To me it was obvious that we looked completely exhausted and just didn't have the legs for it. I certainly saw no lack of effort or passion. Arsenal played well, and won the game because of a deflected goal.

No, we lost because they were better than us and wanted it more.

The squad is decimated fitness wise because of the world cup and a litany of related muscle injuries, team selection is being dictated pretty much by physical condition.

Maybe.

I think what you'll more likely see on Wednesday is how the fans are in fact not there for the team, with a humiliatingly low attendance.

Agree, but you forgot the lack of vocal support at Wembley, it's almost Haemorrhoidesque.

Dier's finger to the lips suggests and the passion of our players after our equaliser suggests we do care. We played poorly and got beaten by the better team on the day, that's all.

I concur. Think I'll just settle for a tenner.

Do you think they care? They just see it as another game. Only matters to us

I think they do, especially given the handbags that ensued after Dier's goal. I doubt they would have acted that way against any other team bar possibly Chelsea.

The players care but it was a step to far after a massive week of games. Do people forget that they had the luxury to rest all their players midweek.

We can pick any excuse we like which suits our argument. The World Cup finished 5 months ago and I don't see any other club moaning about it and blaming it for their players looking 'tired'. There is no excuse for such a poor performance. Do you think Poch went into the dressing room after the match and said 'Don't worry boys it wasn't your fault you all played at half pace today, it was that bloody World Cup's fault'?

Of course not. So what was our excuse last season when we were just as poor and got done by those bastards again, when we were enjoying a rich vein of form, same as at the weekend..

I'm also amazed that some other members find it incredible that I should say the players owe us. Of course they do, more than any other person or body, I should have thought that was blindingly obvious. We pay our money (loads of it) so we have every right to see them perform better. It's what they're all incredibly well paid for, and it's what they train incredibly hard for, so yes, I demand better than what I got on Sunday for my money.

Regarding your last point, I hope you're wrong about the attendance tomorrow evening. I would hope the Spurs fans would turn up in their droves to see this problem put right, on the pitch where it really matters, against a poor Southampton side.

I said originally that one result does not a season make and I meant it, but we've got to try and put a little love back into the hearts of all us proud Yids after a terrible result with all it's consequences off the pitch.

The players owe you nothing, you sound like a spoilt kid.

If I told you what you sounded like, I'd get banned from here. What a couple of stupid comments. Perhaps you could let us all know what you expect for your money, not bloody much by all accounts.

I want the players who failed to turn up at the Haemorrhoids Stadium to feel as if they really owe us a wonderful team performance on Wednesday night. Players always say how much they love playing for their managers and that's great as far as it goes, but I always feel a little short changed when I hear that. I want them to say how much they love playing for their fans. We are the most important part of what they do and get paid so well for so it's us, the paying punters they should be playing for. Managers, players and coaches come and go but we are always there in all weathers. I was gutted on Sunday more than anything else, because we failed to turn up and give those bastards a real game. I'm sure Poch has put fire in their belies for the game on Wednesday evening. They owe it to him and more importantly, they owe it to all of us.

Here’s the faults in this post as I see it.

1. The players turned up, we got beat by the better and fresher team on the day.
2. They praise the fans plenty of times. But we could play in front of zero fans, them still get paid the same money and Spurs would still make a profit. So technically they get paid so much not because of the fans.
3. We are not always there in all weathers.id be amazed if there’s more than 40k there tomorrow.
4. They owe us nothing, they are paid well enough already without us lending them any money.
5. You’re usename should be Spursloveconditionally.
6. You failed to mention beers and prostitutes.

In all weathers? We're a Premier league team, what kind of grounds have you been going to by mistake?

Get over yourself.

I don't think the players owe anyone anything. They're getting good results this season and that's with us not adding to the team. Yes, we lost at the Emirates. Do you know how many times we've won when playing there? 1 time since it opened. Before that at Highbury it was 1 time since 1993. Think you need to get behind the team and stop acting like they owe you anything. We're playing the best football i've seen in my lifetime. As a fan you owe them support.
