Yes it's back (albeit very early in the season!) in it's 3rd incarnation!
The runners and riders are....

Arsenal - long time established members of the 'top 4 club',

Liverpool - new squad, new manager, and plans of returning to where they feel they belong,

Tottenham Hotspur FC - the sexiest, most exciting, team of the three. In short, the good guys....

It's wide open, and there may be others that fancy coming up on the rails (Stoke, everton), and there will be thrills, spills, cheers, and tears along the way.

Game on....

This weeks installment includes...

Wigan v Spurs

Arsenal v Bolton

Liverpool v Wolves

I fancy us to do Wigan in the form we're in, Liverpool should do Wolves at home, and Arsenal v Bolton, well, anything could happen there.

How about the race for the top four instead?

I don't like aiming for fourth, no guarantees.

We only played four games! we might be in the race for 3rd yet, if we add another striker who knows maybe 2nd

We have to do it this year.

We have been handed that lifeline for the third year running.

It won't be as easy next year.

If I had a pund for everytime I read that quote on this forum then I wouldn't be sat typing on this forum for a start

I was looking at our upcoming fixtures yesterday and we really could put a run together between now and Christmas.

But let's concentrate on the Wigan game first. It's a potentially tricky game and if we win that I think it'll be a good sign for the rest of the season.

Correction

Liverpool - Overrated, overpriced, average, ill disciplined dross

Arsenal - Spineless, tightfisted , average, nervous dross

What bothered me a little was the back-to-back away games at Newcastle and Blackburn. Both sides are only average at best but they are the sort of games we usually slip up in. Could be a Blackpool and Wolves scenario from last season.

But like you say, Wigan first and we're playing well. If the back 4 is same as against Liverpool then I think we'll win. King is one of the most influential players in the league - when he plays, we win more often than not.

Glad this thread has been started now, there will be plenty of twists and turns to comment on.

I think we might have an outside chance of third but I'll reign in my optimism as I don't want to piss any pessimists off

I'll say it only once,, if Adebayor plays in the majority of our games, 80% plus, we'll be top 4. Parker as well should have a big influence on those around him and on the team as a whole, particularly from a defensive point of view.

One to eleven, and squad, we are stronger than both Liverpool and Arsenal. Actually when Wilshire and Vermaelen return I'll rate them stronger than Liverpool, with or without Gerrard.

If we can get twenty league games out of King in addition to Adebayor playing most games I think we'll have a shot at third. Albeit a lot of 'ifs' there.

If Arsenal lose RVP or Liverpool lose Suarez for any lengthy period I expect either side to drop way off the pace. If we lose Adebayor it will hurt us no doubt but I could still see us competing for fourth, just.

As long as we don't get over confident we should beat Wigan, in fact I think we could win by quite a few...hoping the players don't read this

Rodallega, their best player has been ruled out for 3 months hasn't he? Nzogbia gone....Only Ben Watson to stifle

Seriously though Wigan arn't physical and get the ball down and play. If the same commitment is shown from us I expect us to win by a healthy margin, I really do.

as long as we don let DiSanto rifle n another deflected shot we'll be fine.

3-1 or 2-0 to us I reckon.

Albeit a tad simplistic but that is probably the key variable this season in how each of the three teams perform and where they will ultimately finish.

History tells us that Van Persie is incapable of lasting the season without missing fairly significant time out injured and that both Suarez and Adebayor could well be walking the tight rope of a red card more than once this season but I think out of the three, Liverpool would cope better in losing Suarez than either of us or Arsenal re Adebayor and Van Persie.

Definitely looking more promising for us now the transfer window dealings are in place.

Arsenal will pull themselves together a bit but I really think they could struggle to compete with the top five this season. They seem out of sorts and have just lost Nasri and Clichy who were two of their best players last season. Teams always miss their top players however good the replacements are. With CL football and pressure on them to deliver a trophy I see a disappointing season for them. (From their perspective not mine).

Liverpool have built a more solid squad this season. They've got a good strikeforce and have replaced players not performing like Ngog with good solid Premiership talent like Downing, however on the same turn they've replaced Meireles with Henderson. No form of European football will help their league form.

Chelsea have a new, very young manager. Politics within the club seems to be dictating a player struggling playing every game because he cost £50m playing ahead of one of their greatest ever players. They've got an extremely strong squad and first team though so go into the season 3rd favourites.

The two Manchester clubs are surely the top two going into the season.

We've held onto our best players, don't have CL football this season and have added last season's player of the year which perfectly plug the leak with Sandro out and the striker we've been screaming for since Berbatov left has joined even if it is just for one season. We have a strong enough squad to not rely on any one player with the possible exception of Ade.

I personally have us as 4th favourites but injuries or unforeseen disasters can strike any club.

The Chelsea pensioners should definitely be in that list, we are in a race for 3rd, 4th is the second prize, Europa league 3rd prize.

I see Chelsea as favourites with their window purchases, us as 2nd favs and a toss up between the other two.

Liverpool have over payed for mediocrity and Arsenal have bought older injury prone players. The Arsenal fans I know have themselves pencilled in for 7th and that was before Saturday.

I actually think Liverpool would suffer the most. An inform Gerrard aside for a minute and I think Suarez is their best outfield player by a country mile.

Gerrard has been out a long time, 6 months at least, and it can take a similar amount of time to get back to full pelt and he's not getting any younger.

if we lose ade for a period i think we might look poor, Pav just looks so bad this season, and defoe is useless up top alone. and we dont have the mutant to act as a foil anymore
