Good to see Cipriani back in the England set up and also Tom Curry getting a chance on the SA tour. Shields will hopefully answer a few questions in the back row too.

Not sure how any of the Quins players other than Robbo are in the squad.

The rest of them deserve to be tied to a lamp-post and flagellated for the entire summer.

So cipriani has chosen to go to gloucester and turn away from the lucrative move abroad because of the england recall.

I feel this could have been a mistake as I believe he was only chosen because jones was resting others. He really needs to take advantage and put on a show in SA otherwise he wont be considered again imo

What an entertaining, high-scoring semi that was. Hope the Newcastle v Exeter is half as good, it'll still be entertaining.

Final was a bit of a damp squib. Apart from the very opening stages Sarries were so comfortable, Exeter just didn't get going at all.

If we're picking out individuals, I thought Mako was very good.

Just caught up on the England v BaaBaas game. I know it's usually a weakened team in a game that's semi-serious effort and lacks intensity, but ouch.

That offload by Tipuric to set up that try.

Ashton must’ve loved it.

The Wales V SA game was a horrible watch. Conditions and ref didn’t help but was one of the worst I’ve watched in a while. 2nd half was a bit better tbf.

Great day this Saturday. NZ v France with your breakfast. Then Ireland V Australia for your brunch. Then SA v England in the afternoon with Argentina V Wales in the evening.

Just need to get some sedatives to put in the mrs’ tea and I’m golden.

Really strong England team isn’t it. I knew BV was going as he needs the minutes but I genuinely thought you left OF, MI and MV behind.

Shields on the bench. He’ll get 15/20mins I’d imagine.

I expect a 10-20 point win for England but would t be surprised if SA run them close.

Not optimistic for Wales. I’ve watched most of the Jaguars games this season and they’re in great form with some young players like Bofelli really coming on and making a name for themselves.

I don’t think Ireland will cruise past Australia either but they should win by 7-15 points.

France NZ first up though. Great opener.

Haven't really been following the rugby as I was away in Canada for two weeks, but I really don't understand why England have suddenly reverted to playing Brown on the wing.

There's a debate as to who is the better fullback out of Daly and Brown (Daly is the better player but hasn't played there much), but Daly is undoubtedly a better winger than Brown. I hope that when Nowell and Watson are available we don't end up with Brown on the wing.

As for the rest of the team, Billy makes a massive difference, and it's good to see the likes of Isiekwe and Curry getting a start as hopefully that means we don't have to rely on the old guard for too long.

I'd also like to see Spencer get some minutes. England desperately need a scrum half to come through soon.

My only other concern is that the back line looks a bit lightweight, but I'm not sure what sort of Bok team is being put out.

Etzebeth must be injured as he’s not even on the bench so that’s a massive miss for them and a big plus for Itoje.

Janties (spelling) is on the bench as they’ve gone for Pollard at 10.

Other than that there’s a lot of names I only vaguely recognise, tbh.

Are Australia bad at the moment? With the side we've selected, especially the front row, I don't see us winning by more than a score if we win.

No they’re definitely not bad. Still have a lot of good players. 15 is probably optimistic and after the poms gave them a damn good thrashing last summer the last thing they’ll want is for Ireland to embarrass them. Haven’t looked at the teams. You not playing Murray, Sexton and co?

Edit: it was 2 years ago that England thrashed them.

Murray is, but Sexton isn't. We're also playing our 2nd sting loosehead (though there isn't much between McGrath and Healy) and, at best, our 3rd string hooker and tighthead. Missing one or two others too.

Looking forward to see how Carbury goes though.
