Suddenly got this feeling Levy gonna do some madness this summer. Imagine his head must have been all over the shop last summer knowing most likely stadium wouldn’t be ready. With all the uncertainty I’m not surprised we didn’t commit to anything tbh. But now with an empty intray he can motor on.

I have nothing but respect for those who can come away from the last two windows and maintain such boundless optomism for the future.

We just need to wait for the bit when there is a meltdown towards the beginning of August when these fantasy lists of ins and outs inevitably don't materialise.

I’ll be in shock if we buy anyone before the start of August. I’m fully expecting a similar transfer window as last year.

Before anyone starts jumping on the "we can't afford Bale's wages" line, remember what @coopsieyid posted previously.....

Don't forget, at Madrid, he barely gets any of his image rights. If/when he leaves, he & the buying club will have full control of his image rights. THFC could just allow him to keep all of them & that would offset the difference between what he earns & what we can afford.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's still unlikely but we shouldn't totally rule it out.

Anyone able to enlighten me?

Tottenham and West Ham are interested in signing Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite, with the 20-year-old Frenchman rated at 20m euros (£17.1m). (Gazzetta dello sport, via Sport Witness)

And the young lad at Swansea who people are saying looks decent - Wales and Swansea winger Daniel James says he is talking to the Championship club about signing a new deal. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds United. (Independent)

Not trying to be sarcastic here but when do you think we last employed these tactics? Genuine question

Before our players went about 18 months without a rest because of World Cup commitments etc.

I expect (hope) to return to the rapid press after a proper summer of rest & full pre-season.

It really has seemed as though Poch has been aware of the fact that our players are drained, and we've been "getting by" until players can rest.

Onions.

For the record. With plenty of rags linking us to Perisic...I don't feel we particularly need him, and certainly not considering no resale value.

He plays as a Left Winger, Sonny's not too shabby in this position.

By all means if we can get to a position where we can spunk €30 million on 29 year old back up players, that's all good, competition is healthy and all that.

However, at this present time, I'm of the thinking that there's more pressing areas on the pitch to address, along with my notion that if we were in for a LW, I'd much sooner snaffle a younger Dan James from Swansea and develop .

Conclusion: Perisic...Big fat No from me.

Tell you what, if we lost Eriksen, and even if we don’t, Paulo Sarabia (who we’ve been linked to plenty of times) has scored ten and made 9 this season in 26 league games, and only has two years left on his contract. Loves a through ball too. Same age (a touch younger in fact) as Eriksen too. Versatile across the attacking midfield. If we lose Eriksen he’d be a great replacement, and if Eriksen stays Sarabia would be a clear upgrade on Lamela and Lucas in terms of creating chances and goalscoring.

Assuming Eriksen leaves, I'd quite like to see us push for another wide attacker with the bulk of the funds. I liked the way England looked with Sancho/CHO and Sterling either side of Kane. We already have one top one in Son but Moura's output is a bit too erratic for him to be a bonafide starter IMHO. Lamela lacks the pace and trickery for this kind of role too.

Pipedreams would be Bale or Sancho.
Nicolas Pepe would be my choice, but I imagine the competition for him will be fierce.
I still like Wilf Zaha too, he terrifies PL defenders, and it's probably time to move on.
I'd keep an eye on the Mahrez situation too, rumours are he's unsettled at City.

I really think Dele can step up as our creative hub in Eriksen's place, he has the vision (as proved by the assist for Kane at Soton).

I'd quite like us to go back for Grealish in terms of a more direct Eriksen replacement (in terms of Eriksen's deeper role this season) he really seems to have something about him. If Villa fail to come up I think they'll let him go for a reasonable fee, especially after Southgate's recent comments.
