Agreed. The squad should imo look something like this after the summer:

Lloris - Gazzaniga - NEW

KWP - NEW

Alderweireld - Sanchez - Vertonghen - Foyth

Rose - NEW

Winks - Dier - Skipp - NEW - NEW - NEW

Eriksen - Dele - NEW - NEW

Kane - Son - Moura - (Parrott)

Which is 8 new signings and this will obviously not happen. So there's that.

Joke thread off the back of a couple of bad losses
Is it though? All of those players other than Eriksen and Toby I would gladly sell. Wouldn't be happy about Lamela going but if adequately replaced I would be good with it.

It depends if we want to stand still and hope it's good enough to challenge for top 4 again or try to step up and really challenge for the title.

Without question the top 6 is getting more competitive and we could easily finish 3rd or 6th right now.

It's strange as somedays I think we are 2-3 key signings away from giving it ago and other days we look crap and need a major shake up.

Personally I think Poch needs to be ruthless this summer and I agree with @morris25 departures. None of them are really game changers and worth switching out.

If Eriksen & Toby leave we're in for a tough summer. If we miss top 4 I'm very concerned

Wan Bissaka and KWP should be our right backs next year.

Trippier and Aurier both need to be sold.
Levy is still searching though the couch cushions for enough spare change to buy Jack fucking Grealish. How are we going to afford Wan Bissaka who will cost maybe 3 times as much?

I mean, I find the idea that people are posting with anticipation in the transfer wishlist thread pretty hard to fathom.

Sure we need to freshen up, but who honestly sees more than 2 in 2 out this summer?

Yes, any suggestion of a clear out is a joke and clearly based off the emotion of these last 2 defeats.

Whatever you want to call it there are at least 7 or 8 squad members that should be gone next year. Llorente, Janssen, Trippier, Aurier, Davies, Vorm, Wanyama, Nkoudou will be back this summer. I'd sell Sissoko personally as well (while he has value) so that would be 9 for me. If that isn't a clear out I'm not sure what is.

A quickly written wish list after tonight's disappointing game:

* James Rodriguez (The dream :rolleyes:)
* Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* Raphael Guerreiro
* Adrien Rabiot
* Suso
* Abdoulaye Doucouré
* Jadon Sancho (won't happen I know)
* Joshua King (cheeky one)

Chilwell, Wan Bissaka, Berge, Rabiot. Maybe cost 125 in outgoing fees, plus whatever the sign on fee for Rabiot would be. Ridiculous after not spending a penny for 18 months that seems a damn near impossible outlay.

Eriksen has had 2 arms, and a leg out the door since the beginning of January. He is gone.

I think the following will be off:

Toby
Wanyama
Eriksen
Llorente
Janssen
Vorm

I'd also be tempted to cash in on the following:

Lloris
Trippier
KWP
Davies
Lamela
Moura

If we did all that (we won't, obviously), still be solid core with:

Gazzaniga
Aurier
Jan
Sanchez
Foyth
Rose
Dier
Winks
Sissoko
Dele
Son
Kane

Either way, I hope Poch sees this as a good time to upgrade/re-build and that the club - for once - backs him in doing so.

i think a lot of this is over blown - not recognizing that players are injured and running on empty due to a bloomin tough season. that being said there are probably three categories worth considering:

Almost certain to leave:
Fernando (out of contract)
Harrison (Melbourne city - likely to become a perm)
GKN - at Monaco surely with a view to a perm Ligue 1 move
Janssen - if fit and has a semi competent agent with months to work on a move
Vorm - (our of contract)
So that is 4 first team squad (5 if we count Dembele from Jan) and 1 youth prospect

Likely to leave:
Trippier (some semi-ITK + form and resale at a position where we have 3 players and are still light)

Possible/ should try to move:
Aurier (not sure if Poch will push both Aurier and Trippier out but that would be a statement of intent to seriously revamp and go again)

Should add a possible 4th cat with Toby and Eriksen - hope they stay but who knows.

That's a realistic group to leave and a lot of room created in the group

City overhauled their squad and finished 3rd the following season before rampaging it in the season after that. I'd happily take that if it meant the club actually brought in quality players in the hope of winning the title in the next couple of seasons. I'm getting bored of the team being "not quite good enough" in every single competition. They aren't even playing good football at the moment, so there's nothing immensely pleasing about the current state of affairs.

The fact is that the club should have bought during the past two windows to start the overhaul, allowing it to be a more gradual process. Instead they decided to be cheap and hope poch could pull something out of his arse. It's a poor business strategy - sometimes you have to invest to make money and in this sport that's more often the case than not. They E hedged their bets massively and I think it will backfire in immense fashion

Are we having a closing down sale ?
