A few left field choices:

If Eriksen leaves Ward Prowse
He might not be as creative as Eriksen but he’s far better at set pieces. Plus Poch knows him well.
Longstaff at Newcastle is going to be immense at would be great along side Winks.
At LB Zinchenko at Man City would suit us and if they buy a new LB (Chilwell?) he will have little game time.

There's a big list of players that have to leave first before we buy unfortunately. Going by our history with Levy, to change tactics in the transfer market seems most unlikely, we can expect it to be quite last minute leading to frustration because it means a lack of pre season for new players to settle in to the system and demands. I'm hoping the last two windows haven't been a waste, in that being inactive we've laid tracks down on targets / deals to be done seamlessly once the window opens, a new approach maybe with the stadium and ticket sells coming into play. Realistically we can expect a CM appointment fairly quickly once the transfer window opens...I hope

I must say we are in urgent need to upgrade our wingbacks for the way Pochettinho sets up to play so really hope we can upgrade but won't be surprised if that doesn't happen.

Without messing around we should get Grealish Brooks Rabiot or Ndombele or another dominant CM if either is not possible.

Does anyone know if the summer transfer window shuts 3 weeks earlier than everyone else again?

Er, yeah...could be a problem there... :cautious:

Agreed. The squad should imo look something like this after the summer:

Lloris - Gazzaniga - NEW

KWP - NEW

Alderweireld - Sanchez - Vertonghen - Foyth

Rose - NEW

Winks - Dier - Skipp - NEW - NEW - NEW

Eriksen - Dele - NEW - NEW

Kane - Son - Moura - (Parrott)

Which is 8 new signings and this will obviously not happen. So there's that.

Very unfair not to have Sissoko in there. He has shown this season he is worthy of a squad place next season and on.

I don't believe Davies is attacking enough for us for a LWB position. He is too one dimensional and can not beat a player. If our defenders are going to act as wingers we need an understudy to rose. He changes the way we play when he is playing. Even jan is more attacking than davies and can whip a better ball in. I think poch shares this thought hence why he has started jan at left back in the past

Pochettino has never started Vertonghen at left back when Davies has been available iirc. He played there recently when Davies was injured and Rose doesn’t play 2 games in a week.
Imo rose will be the left back to go in the summer if either do leave

I agree 100% but this season we find ourselves in a very unique situation.

Dembele already gone, Vorm & Llorente out of contract, Alderweireld a £25m release clause, Eriksen 1 year away from leaving for nothing, Janssen & Nkoudou surplus to requirements.

7 players near on certain to leave. With this looking to be the case of circumstances don't change do we simply keep hold of a midfielder in Wanyama who hasn't been fit for 2 years and not move a right back on to bring in much needed quality in an area that is clearly a weak link at the moment?

As it stands we either want rid or have our hands tied on 7 players. If we don't commit to making that at least 8 we will be looking at another season alternating Trippier & Aurier at right back again or have Wanyama taking up a slot that he can't fill anymore. It's a rough, high number but are we worried about a high volume of departures or what's best for Tottenham Hotspur?

Who is going to buy Wanyama? As you say he has not been fit for 2 years, doubt he will get the wages he is on else where as well

Major overhaul needed this summer and I think Poch knows this, judging by the comments he's made over the past week. You could argue the case for half the squad to be upgraded/replaced for one reason or another.

Makes the decision not to buy over the past 2 windows even more farcical. Maybe we can reinvigorate with 4/5 good signings but I'm not sure we're capable of buying this many in 1 window.

With the new stadium almost finished and mountains of debt hanging over the club's head, I've got limited expectations on who we're going to be able to afford to bring in this summer.

The club need to focus on what is vitally important in the summer. There are lots of things I'd like to see done to improve our sqaud but in reality we can't afford to do it right now.

What is vital is that we need help desperately at CM. I don't want to hear any more excuses from Levy and the club it absolutely has to get done. We have nothing behind Sissoko and Winks and it's our biggest weakness by far. No more whining in the media. No more waiting until the very last second. Get it done.

So casting away my gut feeling that we've not a pot to piss in, today there are a few articles about Bale being offered in exchange for Eriksen.

The more I see of Eriksen the more I think he's off. His head isn't really with us and although I'm not really one for returning players it has served us well in the past.

If it could be done I'd be for it. Bale in that new stadium would be incredible.
