depends for me. If he is PL proven and not injury prone I think Foyth/Dier can cover as 3rd.

Agree. If we’re playing a flat back four, then the full backs wouldn’t be required to run up and down the flanks as often as in the case when we play a back three.

Dude/lady?

Sane is 23 - never will he be going to China

Oscar moved to China when he was still only 25. That’s early for a top footballer to move to that league.

Nevertheless, I agree with you that Sane isn’t moving to China (just yet).

Has anyone considered the possibility that we go another transfer window without signing anyone :playful:

If that happened I reckon Levy would have to employ a whole battalion of ninjas to look after him. But meh, ninjas schminjas, we'd employ Chuck Norris.
How long do you reckon it will be between the window opening and people posting in the transfer threads how they are genuinely convinced we won’t make a signing? I give it about three days!

It’s still all about Paulo Sarabia for me. Pace, skill, flair, vision, quick thinking, and this season he’s had 11 goals and 11 assists so far (29 matches) got Sevilla. We’d no longer be so reliant on Eriksen for creativity.

Fair few in the Championship I wouldn't mind getting either.
Dunno, I do worry a bit about the difference between Championship and top 4 battle in PL. Yes, a Championship player might very well handle the general concept of PL footie, but a top 4 battle is just not comparable.

Agreed. If we secure champions league football again for next year and our primary signings for next season are from the Championship it’ll be bloody depressing.

Grealish and a couple of young british players will be good to add depth and avoid the situation we’re In now with the walking wounded but surely with record £100m+ profits we’ll at least buy 1 top tier player.

Grealish needs to sort those socks out though if he does join.

I think we need a couple of players in midfield. We should end the Dier midfield experiment by dropping him back to centre half and it seems like Wanyama is done at the top level.

We could do with some dynamism, a technically better Sissoko if you like, and also another player in the Winks mould who can keep things ticking along.

I'd still look to bring in Diawara as he's not really featuring for Napoli. I've seen they're after a right back and so we could give them Trippier or Aurier as part of a deal.

.

Yes it wishful thinking i know. However i mention player sales and some injection of extra cash.

Basically we would need that kind of investment to make a real push for the title. Spending 150 million on replacing Toby and Eriksen if they leave and buying a CM to replace Dembele will still leave us light for next season.

Ideally keeping hold of eriksen would be preferable but we also need to add a back up to him to cover injuries and resting player's etc currently we don't have that option in 1/2 area's, it's going to be quite a challenge for the club to provide those type of funds and recruit quality options to sustain a real go at a title next year.

How's Reece Oxford beeing doing in the Bundesliga? He not getting many games at Augsburg. Worthy a cheeky bid?
He can cover both CB and DM but his career seem to have stagnated....or was he simply over-hyped due him being picked for the England squad as such an early age..._

I can’t get my head around this Lloyd Kelly excitement.

Not because I’ve ever seen him play so can’t judge his footballing ability, but he’s got a surname for a first name and a girls name for a surname.

He started out at Palace as a forward so would show more in a possession stronger team, in a team like Palace he isn't going to get the same opportunities to show what he can do going forward then he would at us, as you said different styles between us. The key for me is just how good he is defensively, he should be number 1 priority on our list this window.
I get the theory but if it was just down to style of play I wouldn't expect Palaces LB to average as many key passes as Rose and more than Davies.

Also, Trippier has only managed to improve on his key pass stats that he had in his last season at Burnley (1.7 average) once with us (this season with a 1.8 ave). He equalled it once and his other 2 seasons he actually had less (1.2 & 1), so there is no guarantee that it improves in a better team.

If he ever wants to transition his gender, hey presto, he/she/they simply swap first and surnames around. That’s thoughtful parenting for you

I think that's the right aspect. If this season ends without major disasters, we'll have a team that's finished top 4/3 several years in a row, participated in CL several years in a row and made it to the CL semi final (or final?). With that as a founding notion, we need to keep our eyes on the right targets.

We need to be brave, too. But being brave in the right way, not just stockpiling dark horses and gambling on one of them working out.
