Agree, if he is given his chance and opportunity to thrive in time I think he'd become a quality player for us

with winks' unfortunate injury and wanyama maybe being out then marcus must be pretty close to getting on the bench, the only fit 1st teamer who missed out on the squad today was wimmer and surely we don't need five cbs to choose from.

Isn't Josh Onomah ahead of Edwards?

josh is injured, not sure how bad but bad enough to have kept him out of contention for today's game.

Where did you hear that, I was hoping that he might get some sub appearances now in his fav position, but ye Edwards may be an option now. But I assume he;d be behind Sissoko and then N'Koudou to get on the pitch

spoke to someone who went to the u20 games last week, said onomah went off injured in the first game and returned home. he didn't train this week either but i'm not sure what he's done, hopefully nothing too bad. you're right that marcus probably wouldn't play anyway(though how sissoko still gets pitch time is beyond me) but just being there in the match day squad would be a good step for him.

So is Edwards fully healthy now?

Ohh so that's why he didn't feature in either of the other 2 games at all. Cheers.

Ye it would be great for him, and hopefully provide some more incentive

Bumped into Onomah's agent at Portman Road today, he has a broken nose. Onomah, that is, not the agent, whose nose is fine.

Edit: Autocorrect. Utxhered that.

Yeah hopefully, I didn't actually see the post above mine, broken nose is no big deal. If Wanyama and Winks are out, Onomah must be on the bench at least.
On the bench at best not least.
He has done nothing that we have seen to warrant a starting position.

Haven't read it anywhere else but clickbait site footballinsider247 are running a story that FA documents show that Aramide Oteh had his contract with us terminated in late February. He's currently at QPR on trial.

I've said I don't understand why Chiriches was deemed more viable than trying Veljkovic.

You reminded me about him with this so thought I'd try and watch Bremen's next match. Watched half hour before ours started on Saturday and he seemed to be doing well. After initially struggling to adapt to a new league, country and then suffering a broken foot and not having much first team experience he seems to have worked his way into their first team, and they've had a good recent run of results with him regularly starting. They're playing 3 at the back and he's on the right. @spurs9 you were right about where he'd be utilised. I don't speak German and wouldn't want to copy over bad translations but there are what appear to be a lot of positive comments on one of their forums.

You can read whole thread but gets interesting from page 5 https://www.werder.de/forum/threads/13-milos-veljkovic.37534/page-5, I think they were discussing how he might fit in and works with different defenders, which may be a reason they switched to a back 3. Hopefully he continues to do well in a top league. When people are wanting to sign Michael Keane, again maybe he could have been an option. But as one poster said maybe just wrong time with us.

There were posters very quick and happy to highlight he wasnt playing at the start of the season but he has been getting better week by week for Werder

Now he is starting for them week in week out and has been part of their upturn in form at DM and CB from 16th(relegation playoff spots) to 12th and 5 points off a europa league spot, including this week when they missed Sane(1st choice CB)

TBH the club should consider him and Gnabry

Oh ye people are/were so quick to right off one of our own academy players, because it suited the notion that he was overrated. Yet when we sign someone people are happy to give them a year to settle to see how they do, but that doesn't surprise me with the youth players.

All anyone on this thread suggested was that he'd be good enough to play in the PL, be a squad player and potentially become top class, which resulted in indirect mocking in other threads laughing at the notion he could play in a top league, or was he even good enough for Championship. Careers are long and things can change for the worse but great to see that, as we said, if he were to be given a chance he'd prove himself in a top league.

Just a quick search of his name and you will see 'expert pundits' declare him not good enough, even though Poch wanted him to get a new contract. Lets hope he continues to do well, again will only be a good look for our academy. We now have 2 ex academy players doing well there.

Don't think he's at the level where we'd look to resign him he would have to do a lot more and continue to improve for us to spend money on him, though he could obviously play for us, but wouldn't surprise me in the future.
