Really enjoy the u18s performance today I will not say too much because others might want to do a write up about the match but it could have easily been double figures today with the chances we had.

Pochettino pop round in the second half asked the Great Pat Jennings how the lads was doing.
Final score 5-2 Spurs Roles,Sam S (2) Bennetts,Sterling.

What was the line up, formation and how did they play tactically with/without the ball (high energy, pressing, possession etc)?

did you watch the u23 game against everton, bus? think it was the first time either of the youth sides adopted the 1st team's 3421 and thought it worked well, for 60 minutes at least anyway.

here it is in case you missed it:

definitely gets the most out of edwards, i still think he can do damage from the right in a 4231 but playing as one of two #10s really gets him in his optimal position. just a shame that in this game he didn't have much quality around him to work with.

Cheers, I'm out right now, I'll have a look at that when I get back.

I can imagine That one of the "10" roles in the 3421 would really suit him.

Just finished watching this. Very harsh scoreline, we played well for large spells, but as with many games I've watched in the last couple of years, we just lack a bit of creativity and finishing power in the final third don't we. Someone with a real eye for a goal. Edwards aside, who did create our only goal, and again looked good whenever we got him on the ball. He could do with some players up there to compliment him, a striker who can hold the ball better and bring players into the game (and score goals), who Edwrads could bounce off. What impresses with Edwards is not just how bigger lads can't knock him off the ball, but also his vision and weight of passing at times. He's not just all about the dribble.

Would liked to have seen KWP in the RWB role, as it was, Eyoma didn't really contribute much in an attacking sense, Brown also looked a bit better second half but didn't really contribute much offensively, part of that was the way Everton defended I guess, but you just know KWP would have been popping up demanding the ball and taking it to the opposition. Another dimension our game lacked.

I liked the three CB's, not seen much of Johnson before (?) and I thought he looked pretty good, and it's nice to have a lefty at LCB just makes for a nice balance.

I thought Lesniak (whole game) and Goddard (hour or so) played well, and pretty much ran the midfield for long spells, Goddard looking quite Winks-esque at times, he's technically a good footballer, but there were times when he just held on to it one touch too long.

When you boil it down, two of their goals were long rangers, one was defensive fuck up. They didn't create much more than we did really. And we definitely played the much better - only - discernible style of football.

yeah eyoma's not even really a full-back, let alone a wing-back. next season hopefully we'll see him more at rcb and then tariq hinds(a player i think you'll like as he's similar to kwp) playing at rwb. ryan johnson is a trialist from stevenage, not really sure what our plan is with him if he's going to stay on with us but he looked fairly decent for the most part.

what did you think of edwards off the ball? it's probably a bit easier than playing wide right as he's not constantly having to go up and down all game but i thought he put in a decent shift. on the ball he's just so good to watch, on another day he might've ended up with a three or four but unusually for him he took one touch too many on each occasion but his quality is obvious - even the commentators at one point said that besic needs to stop him because he's running the game.

I thought his off ball work was OK, there were a couple of times when I thought he could be a bit more diligent, but then I'm a bit Bielsa where this is concerned. The good thing is, I can imagine this is something he's definitely going to improve being around the first team and Poch. Definitely looks like he's already upped it a bit.

I really think that role suits him, he'll be much harder to mark out of games, but equally I like him drifting in off the right. Talent wise, he's a fucking phenomenon. I'd pay to watch him now.

It sounded like we just took Johnson to do Stevenage a favour. They wanted him to play a decent level of football, maybe see what his potential could get him if he worked hard.etc at least that's the spin that their manager put on it. I don't think that we're looking to sign him.

I've often thought this about Eyoma and Brown, they seem to be very able fullbacks, but not perhaps suited to the wing back role, but both are described as comfortable at fullback or centreback. Longer term are they both ideally suited to our 3421 system, Eyoma as RCB and Brown LCB in the three, when we have Hinds and Tsaroulla who seem more suited to RWB and LWB respectively.

I like Brown and I see no reason why he could not play the wing back role he has the tools to do so.

Tsaroulla is a player a lot of people like and the fact he is a consistent performer is something that will work in his favour .

Hinds is very impressive and in the first half of yesterdays match was probably one of the best players on the pitch.

Eyoma is a player who I am not sure about but a lot of people like him so it might be just me.

Feel free to write up, you know your stuff and the more views the better.

Strange game in that we dominated but also misplaced sooo many passes.

Whiteman played I assume as Austin is on international duty. Did well

Hinds I think was undoubtedly one of our best players. His strength is in his natural intelligence of the game I think. Well weighted passes off either foot also in tight spaces. Good crossing and created a lot of chances. Overlaps well but probably more reserved than KWP. Aldo defends well.

Tanganga Missed game, his short passing was off, but his cross field balls off his left peg were impressive. Won everything in the air. Real animal

Marsh Had a decent game, impressive aerially considering his height

Brown I thought had a really good game, does well defensively and gets froward well linking up with Bennetts.

Skipp probalby had one of his poorest games I've seen for us. Was just an off day, but he was a second late to everything, not reacting well and his passing was well-off. No harm though as usually very good

Duncan I thought played really well. Carried the ball well, and is very stylish how he glides with it. Drops his shoulder well and links defence with attack

Roles. Excellent today. Doesn't do a lot in the middle of the park, but has an understanding of the game in the final third. Always there to finish off a chance and his assist for Shashoua was an excellent touch on. I love his needle. When we scored our 4th goal he ran back with the ball, with his arm reaching out as if to hand it to the other player, as the guy went to take it, he dropped it and kicked it away, and the player started pushing him. Hilarious, he is literally the academy Alli. Probably could do with improving the defensive side more but he isn't built like man yet. He is growing into his body and so his physique isn't quite there to do that. Club have shown faith and given a 3 year pro, along with a few others.

Bennetts I thought played really well. He was regularly beating his man and put in some godo balls, but also cut in and created a few chances for himself. Missed an absolute sitter but luckily was offside, he can be really inconsistent but yet there is still something in there I like

Shashoua - also had a good game. Some of the link up play between him Roles, Duncan adn Sterling was excellent. He holds his own as well and is quite strong. Excellent little dribbler, glad to see him back palying well

Sterling did his job well. He as strong, pacy and energetic, but also ability. Improving with his back to goal, and I think should have had a couple of more goals

Subs

Patterson gave a really good account of himself agian when he came off, as did Lock and Omalabi.

Fulham didn't play as well as I thought but they were missing, both Sessegnon's and O'Riley and have had 3 players from this age group poached unfortunately for them. Their RW looked exactly like Pritchard just not as good, not that he was bad. Thought I'd add

@edson how much did their sub striker look like Humphreys?

griffiths has been called up to england's u17 euro squad in place of liverpool's rhian brewster.

Great for Griffiths. And fair call up too. Surprised they didn't go with Soule but Griffiths has continued bagging this year.

Impressive that someone who was a CB/RB as recent as the start of last season, has been called up as a striker the following year for Englands best age group is a testament to what he has done'

He's very interesting and it's hard to gauge how good he is or his potential. As he is still so raw as a striker from his history, he looks very unrefined and even sometimes awkward and so he is behind in his development in that position compared to his contemporaries that it can affect you view. If that makes seen.

However saying all that, taken into account how far behind he is in his development, he is still baggings goals, he has still made it to the Euros in an incredibly strong age group, so while looking raw he is really doing the job. Other positives for him are his workrate, good pace, he makes good runs off teh should and he is good at running with the ball and can beat a man, finally he is actually quite a good finisher. Unlike Loft for example I don't remember coming away from watching Griffiths play and thinking he's wasted loads of chances. This all bodes well, as he is still learning this position.

what was tammy abraham's brother like for them?

Didn't have a teamsheet, and didn't know his brother played for Fulham. What position is?
