Defoe Jr. good to hear he's doing well

So is this kid in CCV's year?

CCV is quick for someone of his size, I have mentioned before that Onomah is quick but hard for him to show in CM. Remember England players in his age group saying he was one of the quickest

His an academy year younger than Onomah not sure when spurs released him, maybe 15-16 yrs old his still a massive spurs fan.

Good move for the lad. Don't think I ever noticed him playing in midfield though, was a fullback. Then again Malachi Peynardo-Peart was always a fullback with us and he's playing left wing and as a no.10 for Palace so things can change.

Ye I thought KTS was a LB. And as you say same with MPP. I looked on Palace website and he's now a midfielder. Must be due to us producing technically good players so that even when they go to another club they are better than their midfielders.

I remember reading a US fans comment watching England u16s play and Eyoma was at CB, and he said that our CBs are better on the ball than their CMs

Could well be true, still clubs insist on developing "athletes" in this country. Its why our lads are in such high demand. They can actually handle a football.

That U19 is a great group.wonder what price they are to win it.might have a few quid on.looking forward to sessegnon and Edwards in same team could be spurs future.

It's been mentioned before but on it's own its not that great a group, though saying that it has had some late developers. The group has basically kept their 4/5 best players and filled the rest out with the 99s which is actually a better group than the 98s. I assume though you were referring to the strength of the squad rather than the specific year group.

I've heard his name often but never seen him play. A lot of people have spoken of him him fairly highly as say he's similar to Onomah.

Is that true?

TOB is a really top quality player, he has really impressed me for the last 3/4 years. He can play with the best of his age group and has the potential to be a top quality player, but the impression I get at the moment is he functions best as a quality cog in a quality team where he doesn't look out of place and is actually crucial and can be one of the best players in said team. However, when he is the best player or more that when he is looked at to take control of the game, he doesn't step up as much. Not bad for us necessarily as if he game through with us he would be surrounded by quality players but he doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck.

There are similarities but probably more differences than Onomah. They are both technical proficient and physical players in the centre of the park. They both can play the b2b role picking the ball up off the defender and carrying it forward but I think Onomah is slightly better in that role. Onomah is more dominant and dynamic, and will try and make himself involved in everything though as he gets older he has toned that down a bit more and is probably more efficient in his play and doesn't get involved in everything. Onomah will go more to the ball.

TOB will wait the ball to come to him and nit play more together but can also drive forward and has skill. I feel he is more of a Dembele lite than Onomah in style. He uses a lot of feints and his body to keep players from the ball. He operates better as a DM whereas Onomah will operate better as a CAM, but they both play CM in their own way. However, TOB is also more versatile and has the ability to play on the wing. His mindset changes there and he will dribble and try and create more. I've seen him play there a couple of times and look good, again a bit like Dembele. I think TOB has developed versatility due to playing in a very competitive position so wasn't the mainstay there and consequently had to move around positions to allow others to get chances in CM. TOB is born in 00 so ahead (99) and below (01) him he would have Kirby, Roles, Skipp, Maghoma, Patterson, Duncan, Bowden, Omolabi, and sometimes even Hinds (and maybe even White), who would occasionally get games there, which includes 7 internationals. Onomah by comparison born in 97 his competition ahead (96) and below (98) him would consist of Winks, Miller, Lesniak, Pritchard, Amos, Ross, Stylianides and Owens, where Onomah was clearly the best CM in the academy at the time, with Winks and Miller being the only ones to challenge him, yet neither of those 2 IIRC were considered good enough to go to international tournaments at the time.

It may be the reason why Onomah took more responsibility and dominates CM more, but I think it will help TOB settle in the first team if he ever got a chance as he'd be able to play in different positions. Something that severely affected Onomah when he had his few chances.

So he is similar in some aspects and also different in some others. Hard to know who will be the bigger talent. Based on u18s performances I don't think TOB is ready for the first team for at least another year, however talentwise is if he started really well next season he may get himself to a level we he could get some sub appearances to the end of next season though realistically that wouldn't happen. At the same age I'd say Onomah is ahead in his development but they have somewhat different styles.

If you haven't seen him play for 90 mins and want to, you can go to youtube and search Nike International friendlies 2014.

Or search the forum for Nike friendlies and I'm sure I've posed it before

Ye sounds good initially, but I reckon De Boer will soon find himself feeling the pressure of getting results by any means necessary, and will end up spending money on average players as they are more reliable than using the 'academy'. Hope he does get a chance though.

So Edwards won't be around for pre season with the first team then? Was hoping he'd be with the squad for the US tour.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/club/announcement/new-academy-coaching-staff-appointed-290617/

We are pleased to announce the appointments of Wayne Burnett and Perry Suckling to our Academy coaching team.

Former Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne joins as our new Under-23s Coach, while Perry returns to the Club is as Academy Coach and Academy Goalkeeping Coach following a spell with Queens Park Rangers.

A former midfielder, Wayne represented Leyton Orient, Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield Town and Grimsby Town – making over 100 appearances for the latter two clubs – during an extensive playing career in the Football League. He left his post as Dagenham & Redbridge manager in December, 2015, and has since worked as a National Coach Developer at the Football Association.

Perry originally joined Spurs in October, 2000, after a playing career that included spells at Coventry City, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Watford and Doncaster Rovers, in addition to loan spells at West Ham United and Brentford. He has also previously enjoyed time coaching in South Africa and back here in the UK with the England youth squads, and served as our Academy Goalkeeping Coach until leaving to take up a position within Queens Park Rangers' Academy in the summer of 2015.

Commenting on the new members of staff, John McDermott, Head of Coaching and Player Development, said: "Wayne brings experience and a fantastic set of attributes to the Academy. He’s a former player, league manager and youth coach at a variety of levels, most latterly as a coach with the Football Association.

“I'm sure he will enhance our existing coaching programme and contribute hugely to the continuation of players graduating through the latter stage of their academy life into senior professional football.

“I’m delighted also that Perry is returning to us and he brings vast experience and knowledge of youth football that can only help the players and staff around him.

“He has an extensive knowledge of how we work and was fundamental in bringing a lot of successful graduates through the Academy here.

“He knows what ‘good’ looks like and we looking forward to working with him again.”

I was hoping Scott Parker was joining as well.
