Eyoma will probably benefit from the time spent at RB, but given the way we play, he'd be ideal for RCB a little further down the line. Likewise Brown could end up as LCB, with Bennetts and Tsaroulla more suited to LWB.

Alderweireld - Sanchez - Vertonghen
Eyoma - Tanganga - Brown

U18s: GOAL! Lock charges down a clearance, gets to the byline and crosses for Griffiths to score with a free header. 1-1, 52mins #COYS

Our managers main philosophy is that you earn your place in the team and match day squad through hard work on the training ground. We've never had a better, more hard working, harmonious squad as a result. He mustn't start cherry picking youngsters based on ability alone, they have to buy into the philosophy. I have no problem if Edwards doesn't make it but it would be a shame if he doesn't do everything he can to maximise his own talent.

There is absolutely no evidence at all that Edwards isn’t working hard. In every game I watch of his lately he seems to be working a lot harder defensively,

From memory, the majority of us that saw veljkovic play thought the club had made a mistake letting him go. I don't think there were many on here who thought the club was in the right in letting him go.

It’s not always those that saw much of him claiming the club were right to let him go etc.

Does anyone know why he rejected the contract?

Was it money or the promise of opportunity?

He rejected the contract because he realised he wasn’t going to get much chance after he played really well in pre season and was then told he wasn’t part of first team plans and packed off to Boro.

I finished watching the second half of the U19 RM game last night.

Really don’t get the criticism of Edwards coming out of that game from a few people.

The team as a group were poor second half, having been collectively excellent first half. RM were also excellent second half, as you’d expect for one of the best and most productive academies in world football.

I’m not sure how much they expect Edwards to influence everything that happens from ARM. But he tracked back constantly, dropped deeper etc. He’s not the most tenacious in the tackle but not all our first team players are (Eriksen eg) and not all our first team players are the most industrious without that ball (Alli eg).

Edwards isn’t perfect, nobody thinks that, but as with all players, it’s about compromise and pay off. If we think Edwards can provide moments of quality and productivity then we accept some (not all) defensive compromise, as we currently do with most of our first team players. If the pay off doesn’t balance off the compromise then we don’t.

As someone said above, coming on late when we need a spark of creativity, against a tight defence, I’d take Edwards trickery and head up play, over Siisoko’s Head down charging all day long.

tob starts for england, ccv starts for sheff u and onomah starts for villa - unfortunately not in a cm2 though.

a little surprised eyoma isn't back in as sessegnon really struggled last game.

2 great finishes by Brewster. He's finished these chances he's had, better than the sitters he had in the group stage.

Both created by Foden too

england have been really complacent since going 2-0 up, usa have had a hatful of chances.

elsewhere, onomah just got an assist to put villa 2-1 up.

They've relaxed and keep getting caught out. We probably should have scored a couple more though. Brewster dragged his easiest chance wide in the box.

On a related note, Sancho came on for Dortmund and nutmegged someone almost instantly, wouldn't surprise me to see him outshine Pulisic this season

Great news on JO, you see it?

England have looked a lot better this half. Defensivley solid when they've had to defend otherwise the game is taking place in US' half. Lovely goal by Gibbs-White brilliant team goal after winning the ball back from a counter

Lol off one performance for England. He's a good player but we don't need him. Top clubs hoover up talent then they never see daylight. Let him carry on doing well at Wolves until someone is ready to put him in a PL first team. This is what happens to people like Sinclair, Powell, Brown and so on, and England's limited talent pool shrinks further

Onomah and Carter-Vickers seem to be holding their own in the Championship - Sheffield United have the joint second best defensive record. And, both teams sit in the top-5.

Wasn’t off one game.Hes featured in all 5 games so far.I like his directness from CM something none of our young CMs have. They are all good on the ball, but don’t see the kind of incisive runs he makes into the box.Completely different kind of CM to our boys ,but he seems to make things happen.
