Was at the game. Entertaining but not much to write home about

Tanganga and Bennetts were good.
Bennetts was up and down the wing all game with some good defensive work for a winger. Tanganga was generally very solid and didn't allow Luton to bully him, especially with their top scorer from last season starting up too too.

Tracey was decent but very unimpressed with Dinzeyi

With what the more regular yoof watchers say, tanganga is better than dinzeyi, so i was surprised poch seems to have dinzeyi higher based on his going to the usa this summer.

So does this cup get counted as senior appearances or youth/u23 apps as it is a bit of a mix? I presume youth as it isn't our first team

i wouldn't read anything into it, it's a bit like when walkes was seemingly ahead of kwp in poch's plans.

Mixed reports about whether we're bringing in this Aurier fella. Would be a tough one to take for KWP.

If we make it to the final of every cup competition (with no replays) that's 70 fixtures.
70 fixtures divided between Aurier & Tripps is 35, not a massive number of appearances but it leaves KWP kicking his heels.
Split three ways (between Aurier, Tripps & KWP) is 23 each which is not going to satisfy the first two.
If you split 4 fifths between the two seniors they'll play 28 which might be enough and it would give KWP 14 starts throughout the season. That might work, but all of that hinges on us making it to the final of every cup competition. Early exists and someone is going to be very unhappy.

But if an injury strikes one if our players we are in a very diffetent situation. Either way, it's a risk....

Im sorry but thats just silly

the modern squad only has 2 players per position if that, if any team gets an injury you will always run in to problems

If Kane gets injured, we wont be struggle to challenge for the league

Risking the development for one of our best young players just for the short term is why english clubs dont produce players

The trick, I suppose, is to ensure that we go for players that play a number of positions to maximise flexibility.

I wouldn't put it quite like that but I broadly agree.

You can't have three players per position just in case of injuries. In other countries Tripper, KWP, Dier, Alderweireld & Sissoko able to cover one position (to varying degrees of competence) would be more than enough.

Dinzeyi is definitely not a right-back.

Tanganga was good, but a bit too reactive for me (not helped by the players he had around him). I'd like to see Tanganga given a few games alongside CCV ideally, as I don't really rate Maghoma or Dinzeyi.

Bennetts had an excellent match, but clearly was so much better going forward than he was at defending - he got a toe in several times though.

Skipp was excellent - he played like Matic, generally keeping it simple but sometimes picking out an effortless switch of play. His partners in midfield were far less impressive, but Duncan has more to offer than Pritchard.

I actually thought Loft did a good job too but I can't quite work out why we're perservering with him as he's not of the required level IMO. I presume he'll be dropped as soon as Harrison is back?!

@Rob just said in the ITK thread that he heard we're after "O'Reilly" instead of Gazzaniga, referring to Luke O'Reilly, released by Cardiff it seems.

Looking at the guy's Twitter profile, it seems about right. Got his location as "Cardiff/Essex" and his wife follows pretty much all the Spurs Twitter accounts and has had an tweet-altercation with Faces Nightclub on there.

Done deal imo.

Maybe he's not small. But he doesn't need to be that big. He's very good at what he does. Cope very well at 18s. Was sloppy at times but knows what he's doing

Optimistic about Bennetts. In the highlights vid didn't seem to be phased by physical side of game and muscled his way through.

Not sure about him being converted to a wing back though, but we'll see how it goes.

I you google O'Reilly he does seem to be a very highly rated young goalkeeper. He was only at Cardiff for a year before they opted not to resign him, it could have just been that they had plenty of keepers but its a strange one. He got some good write-ups whilst playing for their U23s. He;s big, strong and commanding.

He got taken on by Cardiff at 18, left to play for Redditch, then got taken back for another year before getting released again when the goalkeeping coaches changed. The one that rated him left for Palace, whilst the new fella didn't rate him.
