Thought it was noni ? Maybe that’s his brother lol.

chukwunonso is his first name, often shortened to nonso but i think he prefers to go by noni.

disappointing news though if it means he's leaving. he's looked very good as a holding mid for england but less good as a winger in the tournament you've referred to above.

Was he a holding mid really ? He actually came in as sub for about 15 mins in 1st game and looked really good. Reminded me a bit of zaha. But when played 90 mins was almost anonymous. But struck me as a tricky winger, surprising he played DM as well.

'Nonso Madueke' is listed in Man Utd's squad for the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC).

That's a little disappointing. He's not the first promising U16 that we've lost and he won't be the last, it happens, although we seldom seem to be the beneficiaries. We've lost kids to Arsenal recently but it doesn't seem to work the other way. I can't remember a hot prospect that has jumped ship from Chelski or the Gooners and come to us in a very long time. We also don't seem as interested in bringing down northern lads as Liverpool, Man City & Man Utd seem in taking up Southern lads.

I think we had a couple of good years where we seemed to be the destination of choice for young players but it seems a lot more competitive now.

Noni looked like a real talent.

Would be a big shame if we lost him though we poached him ourselves. Is easily one of the best CMs in his England age group and got real skill and ability. Someone did suggest a week or so ago that other clubs were looking at him but he thought he'd stay. At the end of the day it's expected that other clubs will look abroad. The only thing we offered over the bigger clubs is a route to the first team. If the other clubs are doing that as well as us or even more so, plus offer better money and loans, then there is no reason for them to stay with us.

Big kick in the teeth as he is the standout from that group atm

the defensive plays were fantastic and will actually give the coaching staff something to think about.
To be honest - the second play was a bit fortunate - he was jogging back, and let his man get past him, before making a good recovery. Still lessons to be learned. But nice that he made the recovery.

Thanks. Very composed, good vision and use of the ball, but he almost never used his left foot. Not that that's a criticism of him necessarily, just that once again I worry that his versatility will hold him back. He's good enough at LB, but how good would he be at RB?

Its a conundrum with KWP, clearly 3rd choice at both right and left back, I'm sure he would be far more effective on the right. Perhaps a loan to another prem club next season will help him really kick on, seems a great lad.

It's disappointing but to me proves that professional football is now primarily about money. Our inability to compete with the other top 4-5 clubs on paying big money for the top players repeats itself at all levels of the game. I have no doubt he was offered a shed
load of dough to sign for them and we could not compete.

What we can offer in terms of facilities and opportunity is eclipsed when a young player is offered the chance to sign a pro contract at 17 which will make him a millionaire regardless of whether he ever plays for the 1st team.

Tbf Man City have comparable or better facilities than us for the academy and Chelsea also have excellent facilities. The other thing is we can't offer any more opportunity to them. If you were them and someone said we will offer you a lot more money plus the same amount of opportunities to the Premier League than other clubs, and in the case of City and Chelsea similar facilities, what would you do? We don't have a leg to stand on.

If we could show that we actually offer a better route to the first team, like we used to then players would more willing to forego the money to stand a better chance of being a success

Just spotted that Ejaria is yet another Londoner who's found his way up to Merseyside.

Never ceases to amaze me how stacked Liverpool and Everton's youth systems are with talented lads from down south at the mo. Strange one.

Kids who need to escape childhood cliques to realise their talents, as per Sterling, or just coincidence?

Apologies for the tangent...

Even City and United.

I think it is a case of the London academies generally being stronger and having a bigger pot of players to choose from. What I think they will do is try to pick up kids from Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham who are either about to get release or think may want a clearer path to the top.

Just looking at Brewster when he was at Chelsea, they had Taylor-Crossdale, Ugbo, Hudson-Odoi, Nketiah and I think another. So Brewster and Nketiah both decided to leave. I they stuck around they may never have got to where they have.

United also have Roberts (Fulham), Buffonge(Fulham), Willock (Arsenal) that they picked up off by heart.

City got Sancho (Watford), Poveda (Brentford), Richards (Fulham), Boadu (Arsenal/Us)

Whereas, I can't think of any player at Chelsea, Arsenal, here or even at Fulham that would have taken anyone from the top clubs from the north. There may be one or two but I can't think of any. There is just no need.

I think clubs from the north can appear to offer these opportunities where they can come from the London and become a standout player. Even Huddersfield picked up Denilson Carvalho from Watford as Watford have a decent academy being accessible to London. No one from Huddersfield would go to Watford however

He’s been absolutely awful at MK. Honestly has the worst instincts around the box and on the odd occasion he’s in the right place his shooting is so bad

There’s definitely a vibe of next kane with parrot he seems to have the size strength and the technical ability. I have a feeling Griffiths physicality maybe giving him an edge right now, but when that evens out in mens football he may not be so effective. But you can’t argue with Griffiths numbers and essentially that’s what he is in team for.

When you say next Kane vibe, do you mean Kane now or are you comparing him to when Kane was an u18. Either way I think it hard to gain any vibe when you haven't seen him play as he is an u16.

FWIW the very a little I have seen of Parrott and what I remember of Kane, Parrott seems a lot stronger physically and have a bit more flair about him. Kane seemed to have more intelligence and was more creative. I wrote earlier that Parrott reminded me of Ibra for some reason, he had that talismanic presence for Ireland. Will be interested to see ow it translates to us.

@Blake Griffin how did you think he got on against Chelsea?

interesting point that.....would love it if either Trippier or Aurier was a legit LB option so KWP could get more time at RB.
