interesting point that.....would love it if either Trippier or Aurier was a legit LB option so KWP could get more time at RB.

As @Bus-Conductor says he is showing about 75% of what he can do on the left side. On the left he just looks like a capable full back. I've said this before, but I can't actually remember the last time I saw him to one of his slaloming runs that used to get everyone off their seat. The things he was doing at RB that made him standout and look like one of the best academy players I'd seen, are missing from his game at the moment. I just hope if he ever gets shifted back to RB he still has the capability/confidence to do what he used to

When you say next Kane vibe, do you mean Kane now or are you comparing him to when Kane was an u18. Either way I think it hard to gain any vibe when you haven't seen him play as he is an u16.

FWIW the very a little I have seen of Parrott and what I remember of Kane, Parrott seems a lot stronger physically and have a bit more flair about him. Kane seemed to have more intelligence and was more creative. I wrote earlier that Parrott reminded me of Ibra for some reason, he had that talismanic presence for Ireland. Will be interested to see ow it translates to us.

@Blake Griffin how did you think he got on against Chelsea?

The comparison with Kane was in that he appears to have everything to be a complete No 9 . Size strength power touch. I’ve only seen clips so far. But he’s always on free kicks which suggests he has that creativity as well. And tbh I wouldn’t say Kane is far off Ibra now in terms of a presence on the pitch and an aura.

he was ok, didn't get a great deal of service/support though to be fair so difficult to judge. biggest compliment i could pay him is that he "put himself about" and competed well.

Some depressing news if true. Noni Madueke our U16 and England U16 midfielder has been poached by Manchester United!. Can any of our more knowledgeable contributors confirm or rubbish this?

Just finished watching the England U21 game. It never ceases to amaze me that Boothroyd is trusted with this stage of development by the FA. This is an incredibly talented group - largely the U20 group - but already their play is looking less structurally cohesive under hime, and despite dominating large chunks, the game was very messy and incoherent, and for all their good individuals, they didn't create enough quality.

That said, this really is a very talented group. From back to front, some really technically proficient players. Like the two CB's. Really like Ejaria (think I mentioned him at the WC - I thought him and Onomah were the best combo in CM), that was a lovely through ball he played to Lookman towards the end with the outside of his boot. Thought Maitland-Niles looked good in patches. Really like Lookman.

KWP was decent, but feels like we only see three quarters of his game at LB. Onomah put in a very nice cameo, some nice touches and played one of only a couple of through balls that were played. Also liked Madison when he came on. Sess/Madison/Lookman as the 3 AM's for the Ukraine game for me please.

This u21 group have so much potential, and it is interesting to see how well this group do in the future, and how the lack of development affects them.

The 97/96 group is the most talented group to become u21s. The 92/93s were decent but this group is a lot better. It contains a year group that has won their u17s Euro and u20 World Cup. That shows that across 3 years groups, and allowing for later developers from other countries and even other countries starting to give their players first team opportunities that this year group still proved to be the best.

The 96 year group is an excellent group to support them. Though a lot of the talented players from the group originally like Aina, Barker, Ogilvie, Oduwa, Colkett haven't been developed as hoped. There still seem to be a few around who are on the periphery of the senior squad and elsewhere like RLC, Winks, Morris, Burke, Chilwell, Gray and Maddison that would add a lot. If Roberts also finds he way again he would be really useful.

Finally the best of the 98s if they get some chances would make this an incredible age group, if players like Edwards, Willock, TAA, Davies and Oxford develop as they should. By the time the next u21 Euros comes round next year it will contain 3 year groups that have won 3 international tournaments between them. Let's see how they get on. Sadly, I expect nothing to change especially with Boothroyd in charge, and it will be sad to see just how far these players will have fallen behind their European counterparts in a year.

All we know is that he is going to a tournament with United. Not the first time an academy players ours or otherwise have gone to tournaments with other clubs without that player then moving. Just recently, Zak Brown and Ben Knight went to one with us, Freeman played in a tournament for Newcastle.

If it means anything at all he still has the club in his instagram bio, however it doesn't feel positive

if noni does go then i'd like to see us try and get ben knight to make up for it(even if i would feel a bit bad for ipswich), i don't think we're ruthless enough to do it though. as it stands our rivals will continue to target our players and we're basically just going to have to take it until we start paying like they do.

Ultimately doesn't matter anyway, because the talented youngsters we currently have aren't exactly getting a chance in the first team...

Was thinking the same thing just chose not to post.

Selfishly though I still enjoy watching u18s football and the talented players and watching them develop up to a certain point. It wouldn't be as good if our players were average

I understand it's very cynical of me to think this way, but when some of our best talents in decades can't get a sniff of first team football - I kinda lose faith in the academy system's ability to bring the brightest prospects through. This is not just exclusively to Tottenham Hotspur, it's a problem across all academies at the big clubs.

Don't our youth team coaches say that the players are trained to be ready for around 22 years old?
Winks and kwp are in our first team squad and edwards is still young. Onomah is struggling on loan but still has time to turn it around just as ccv has done at ipswich.

Maybe just give them a chance to mature before writing off their chances with us.

I'd like to think this is the case - we'll see...

Can't see a lot of youth players wanting to be a part of our academy system if they're not going to get a taste of first team football until they're 22 though...

onomah starts for the u21s, kwp on the bench.

u19s(who have already qualified) lost 2-0 to macedonia, tanganga didn't play.

Watched the game massive shock result though as you say we had already qualified. Macedonia looked decent too. First time most of those players have lost an international game since the Euro u17 final, so well done to Macedonia.

Biggest danger for this group is having so many players to choose from and constantly mixing it up.

It was a completely different team that started the previous 2 games bar Mount and Chalobah. Will be interesting to see what team they go into the Euros with. Complete spoiled for choice.

Also the Euro u17s start again in a month or so time. This group have suffered from the previous group being so good, however a full strength team should still get very far I think
