sounds pretty amicable, doesn't really benefit anyone for him to go through the motions of staying for the final few weeks if he's not going to play.
Honestly, I would have liked to have seen a commitment from Edwards to see out the season. He is not going to make any progress here, and I think maturity-wise - staying at Norwich would have been the smarter move.

I know it’s only league 2, but if Amos is doing so well there, anybody thinks he could impress Pochettino enough to get a ore season look with us to see if he could cut it?

I think he fits the Poch profile of hardworking, versatile and solid technical skills. He turned 21 in February, so this pre-season might be his way in. Especially if Winks is still struggling with his ankle and Poch insists on playing Onomah anywhere but as a CM.

I think Edwards needs to either go on loan to France or Holland before it's too late. Based of circumstances that aren't the players nor management's fault, it seems Marcus will never get a proper chance at spurs without the playing expierence and it seems he wont get that expierence in England.

Wouldnt even mind letting him go permanantly if its the best for his development and then bring him back when he's ready for spurs.

Hopefully this isn’t true

His dad is a top bloke, I highly doubt it

If he was white, would we be saying this

I feel sometimes people see a teenage mixed race kid who is a bit moody and paint their own picture

The idea he is as bad as morrison, is laughable, seriously comparing him to a guy who was in trouble with the law is insane
While it's obviously mad to write him off, especially at such a young age, maybe people will stop pushing this line of thinking that Pochettino is unfairly, and wrongly, holding back the youngsters now. For whatever reason, he clearly hasn't cut the mustard a league below.
Mason couldnt muster it at the championship yet the season after he was in league one, was our most influential player
Kane wasnt doing well for leicester but the season after was in our first team, shit vardy was getting a dogs abuse at the same time and couldn't get in to the leicester team over nugent and wood
Rose couldnt cut it at bristol yet a month later was LB for us against Man City

I think Marcus could suffer from some sort of mental illness, I have been suffering from mental illness for years, read about it and I’m around the same age as Marcus and from what I read/see is that he could even if he himself don’t know it. Mentality is a big part of football and I hope (I’m sure) the club takes it seriously and helps him if he needs help. I’m hope I’m very very very wrong though because I wouldn’t wish mental illness on my worst enemy

I think that’s a bit too much of a leap to making tbh, pure speculation based on nothing

Anyone one here remember a striker we had in our academy about ten, fifteen years ago, Billy Bricknell? Saw him score a nine minute hat trick in a cup final last night, and the programme claims he was at Spurs in his youth.

I totally agree with these statements.

However, the latest news about him showing up late for training, etc, are very disappointing when he is representing the club and trying to make a good impression.

I did mention this in the other thread. He may be on “the spectrum” at the lower end and not even know about it. That covers all sorts of behavioural issues and social interactions ability to conform and deal with authority. Conditions like ADHD or Asperger etc. I don’t think it’s any coincidence at all that some of the greatest players have been mentally unstable. Someone once said there’s a fine line between genius and insanity. As a kid people probably thought Gazza was just a bit of a joker, but we’ve all seen he obviously had underlying mental issues. But as said this is all wild speculation really. Other than those close to him nobody really has clue what’s going on.

Yes, but clearly all of them showed enough in training for Pochettino (or whoever was in charge when Rose came through - Jol?) to think they could cut it. Edwards hasn't done that, clearly.

Being late to a few sessions is bad, being late to every one, whether it's by a minute or two or not is just not acceptable. I'm really disappointed. Surely there has to be something going on with Marcus for this to be the case. Surely he knows that this behaviour isn't good for him in any way?

Yes I do. I think he was released midway through his final year as an U16 and trialled at a couple of places before turning up in Billericay's youth system. If memory serves he was an Enfield lad and a bit small.

That year we offered scholarships to Chris Riley (RB), John Kyriacou (RB/LB), Leigh Mills (CB) - signed from Swindon, Nathan Peprah Annan (CB), Richard Heller (RM/LM), Stuart Lewis (CM), Jacques Maghoma (CM), Claude Stephan Seanla (ST) and Simon Dawkins (ST).

Riley, Mills, Peprah Annan, Lewis, Maghoma and Dawkins were all part of the England U16 set up. It was a group that had people really excited. Its kind of depressing how things ended up. I'd say everyone bar Mills and Lewis had their careers wrecked or seriously curtailed by bad injuries. Mills was undone by his attitude. He never quite adjusted to being a small fish in a big pond having been a colossus at Swindon although I'm sure our coaching at the time probably left a lot to be desired as well.

Dorian Dervite joined this group as as an 18 year old but leapt ahead of his peers by going straight into the U21s whilst his teammates were still turning out for the U18s.

Alongside Bricknell we also let go Luke Prosser who's had a reasonable career as a defender at Rushdon & Diamonds and Southend, Isa Hussain (AM), who very little was heard of after, despite being described by David Pleat as the most technically gifted player at the club (including the seniors), Charlie Sheringham (who went to Ipswich and later had a short spell at Bournemouth) and Gary Hooper, released as an U15, who made his name at S****horpe before spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Celtic.

As you can see Billy Bricknell was competing with Seanla, Dawkins, Sheringham & Hooper.

Lots of information

Yeah you’re remembering right, he’s still a bit short now. No wonder he got released with so many promising players ahead of him in that age group - although it’s pretty depressing how only Maghoma seems to have “made it” at any level about non-league. Just goes to show promise at youth level means very little.

On wiki there is a list of youth cup finals with the players taking part. Hardly anyone makes it out of what were good youth teams. Give me an Oliver Skipp over Marcus every day.

Ah man. Matt Law is very well connected, so he'd know.

It's getting very hard to defend Edwards. He needs to win the management back round this summer.

do you think he'll get the chance to? at this point i think we're probably more likely to see shilow tracey in pre-season with the first team than we are marcus. i know people will say that confining him to the u23s would be no less than he deserves and i'm not here to debate that but if we do then it's just going to compound the problem. i would hope that poch will tell him it's a clean slate and that as long as he gets his head down and works hard(and turns up on time) then he'll be involved with the first team(what's left of it anyway) in the US, give him something to focus on and to aim for.
