Well done and well spotted! Now can you just comment on the thrust of the comment rather than being small minded. You are better than that (I think).

How is that small-minded? He corrected you on something that was relevant to the conversation.

Also was quite surprising he was released at the time. If I remember he bagged a few hattricks. Was a decent player

I'm told he'll be joining United.

Annoying. Tbf he stands just as much chance of coming through there, plus they will be offering more money no doubt once he is a pro. No doubt he is also offered more incentives along with his family. Would like to have seen him go PSV, as I reckon he would definitely come through there

I don’t think Thorpe has been injured most of the season , yes some of it . But he has played with the younger age group more often then not , spurs do tend to do this with the smaller less stronger boys . I think he played a similar position to Patterson at one stage , probably focusing more on Patterson this year as they don’t want to loose him like they lost his brother kane therefore giving him more game time
Over Thorpe .

You may know more than me. I know at the end of last year he was still out due to broken wrist. I know that he has been playing u17 football but not sure for how long. It's very plausible he may have been playing there due to his size but I imagine it would be more to do with his injuries. When Markanday and Shashoua are smaller than him at least in height I doubt it would be for that reason especially when he has been playing or at least training with Wales u19s. Maybe we are easing him back due to his injuries, as holding people off may be affecting him.

Also I'm not really sure about the Patterson issue. Thorpe was more of a striker and it appears he now finds himself on the wing more, whereas Patterson plays a lot more central though of course can play on the wings. There isn't space for everyone but if Thorpe is rated which I think he is I don't think they wouldn't play him at the risk of annoying Patterson if they rated him. Plus Thorpe could have taken Mukendi and Poch Jr's minutes and it doesn't explain why he hasn't been on any of the tours for the u17s as Patterson hasn't been eligible for any of them. Finally, I don't think Kane Patterson leaving affects anything.Unless you have ITK that says otherwise my understanding is that we didn't offer Kane Patterson a contract rather than him rejecting us, though I would like to have kept him. He would have got game time for us, so I just think we didn't feel the need to keep him. So I doubt the club would give special treatment to the brother of a player we didn't want anymore.

I am also hearing rumours that we will not be having a large intake of scholars this year , unlike last year . Similar intake to the year before TOB , Griffith’s , year

The general consensus is that there are nine definites: Kurylowicz, Walcott, Binks, Cirkin, White, Bennett, Cooper, Asante, Parrott with Glean, D'arcy, Pedder and Madueke all possibles.

Nine would be a small intake. 13 still wouldn't be all that big so it could go either way.

As you have said I've heard it will be a small intake. I'd be surprised if it wasn't what Spurzinho has posted. Glean has gone D'arcy is AWOL and basically gone, Madueke gone, Pedder I think will be offered a lifeline due to his injuries and talent. If they really wanted to be cuthroat they could release Asante as we have Parrott, but Asante has been decent.

I think there will be a minimum of 8 but a maximum of 10 depending on Asante and Pedder. WIll be a good intake but not on the 99/00 level. If Madueke didn't leave would make it a lot better, but then that age group lost Kirby

Was Pedder not very, very highly rated a year ago? Be strange to release him because of a single injury-riddled season.

With regards to this years intake of first year scholars there is no mention of any players from abroad (discounting Troy Parrott). I wonder if any are in the pipeline. It seems it is a rare event when we do not get another player from abroad. In recent years we have signed Tainio, De Bie, Glover(Australia), Azzaoui, Veljkovic, Lesniak, Lameiras, Zapata- Caicedo, Bentalab, Gallifuoco, Coulibaly & Luongo in the last 8 years or so.

I only think we do it if we have a really weak intake and otherwise it appears we only really do it for keepers. Were Tainio not an ex players son, I doubt he'd be here. DeBie and Glover both keepers. Azzaoui is the last real foreign talent we picked up to boost a weak age group. The rest have been under the radar and initially underwhelming, little steals. It's just not something we really do like the other top clubs. We've had our successes but none are like Boonen, Chong, Castillo, Gilmour. I'd say Parrott is the best we've brought in since Azzaoui

He was and I think is rated. The only reason I suggest he could be released is due to the reports we are having a really small group. To me that implies single figures. Then you're choosing between Asanta or Pedder.

He still has tottenham in his bio on social media when others have removed it. To release I really talented player due to an unfortunate to arm breaks would be harsh and unlike us. I think he will stay

I think we've found why Villa fans dislike him so much. They're not fans of progressive passing, we have been saying this all season though.

I must say that is impressive considering, he is easily the least experienced in that list. His first actual season playing football, in a team not suited to him, moved about and he is still one of the most progressive passers

Why do you think more and more of our young players are choosing to leave us for other clubs. We are suppose to have the best facilities , decent coaches , Surely it can’t just be for the money , can it ?

This isn't really a helpful 'answer' but I don't think there is one - it'll be down to a myriad of reasons: money, education, agent involvement, route to first team, coaches, links to clubs for loans, glamour etc.

Plus getting away from the wrong crowd of mates that you grew up with etc.

Also we (fans) don't pay much attention to other youth academies. Other than the odd high profile case like Sancho I doubt many of us have any idea how many kids bounce around academies.

I can't think of many big clubs unwillingly losing their best players as they become first years. Bobby Duncan is probably the most noticeable one I can think of in recent times. He didn't sign scholarship papers at City and by all accounts wants to go to Liverpool, he is Gerrard's cousin I believe or nephew. Anyway he has been in limbo for the last year and hasn't played a single game of football sadly. A fit and firing Duncan would have been brilliant for the u17s at the Euros, next month but he has had a wasted year. I hear it is because City are asking for a fee, or it may be due to Liverpool's embargo.

Quina left Chelsea to go to West Ham for a clear pathway to the first team, but you don't get many clubs losing their best players to other top clubs.

Well if they can get everything we offer elsewhere plus more money, why would you stay here? Where's the incentive. Especially when United can also point to Lingard, Rashford and McTominay all coming through in recent times, and also offer the possibility o Premier League loans. I can completely understand why someone might want to go to United. Other top clubs offer more money, better possibility for loans in general plus loans to the PL or links with clubs in other leagues and a similar route to the first team.

Just got underway at Cobham against Chelsea U18s. Most of their first choice eleven has been rested, presumably with the UEFA Youth League finals in mind.

A bit of a nothing game in terms of the league, with Chelsea already the winners and ourselves pretty marooned in mid-table.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a typical end of season U18 game - a 5-4 / 4-3 or something similar!

1-0 Spurs, Reo Griffiths yet again.

If he scores one more goal, he will have double the number of the 2nd top scorer in the league (currently 23 vs 12).
