don't think so. skipp is naturally more defensive, a midfield anchor. cook's more of a busy bee that does little things all over the pitch. tbh i'm not a massive cook fan so maybe that plays into me not seeing the comparison.

Being far away in Canada, can only watch the clips posted here. Skipp reminds me of Scott Parker.

He's a bit like but only latter day Scott. Earlier in his career SP was far more of a pitbull type player, chasing, harrying, abandoning the disciplined holding role and instead disrupting play. When he calmed down a bit he was far more of a zonal player like Skipp, keeping a disciplined position within the overall shape. That would seem to be Skipp's role going forward but a lot can change. Ryan Mason & Tom Carroll were no.10's and occasional strikers for a lot of their youth but ended up playing much deeper. Its not impossible that Skipp could yet develop physically in such a way as to become a centre half of even attacking midfielder but in all likelihood he'll end up playing a role not too dissimilar to the one he has now, with its obvious comparisons to Scotty P.

Former Spurs youth academy player Grant Ward got a direct red card after a nasty challenge on Neill Taylor

Onomah has been impressive again. Plays as a RM, his work rate has massively improved this game. Just now he won the ball high up and created a chance for Bjarnason who unfortunately had a bad first touch and messed it up

Onomah with another assist! He’s pressed high up, won the ball and passed it to Grabban who scored with a good finish. Brilliant game from Onomah
Edit: It was after a CCV mistake

Sky Sports just said that Onomah assisted for Grabban's 2nd goal after a mistake by CCV. Ipswich have been playing with 10 men since 42nd minute.

Onomah was absolutely brilliant today, even the Villa fans can’t say anything different.
Played as a RM, got 2 assists and in both he pressed high and won the ball high up then quick passes to Grabban. His work rate today was so much better. He pressed high, won the ball, quick passes, created chances and had a few shots. Dembele’s replacement?

CCV on the other hand had a tough game and it didn’t help that Ipswich got a man sent off (Grant Ward ex Spurs academy player). He did win some headers but overall didn’t have a great game.

Edit: Meant he had some clearances. Don’t know how I mixed up clearances with headers lol

Sorry mate but Onomah has one good game in a blue moon. After today it’s clear CM is our main issue. Dembele had a few good games but he is on decline. We need a world class proven CM if we want to compete with very best and I’m sorry Onomah is just not good enough. Harsh but just the way it is. We’ve got a big boys new stadium we need to sign big boy players.

I’m all for signing a world class CM but don’t think that will happen. I rather give Onomah then chance than signing Gomes or Cristante who we’ve been linked too. Even Diawara, he’s young so why not give one of our own youngsters the chance before buying another young player

We should sign a class CM, but its a joke to write off a supremely talented youngster, before his career has even really started.

Relax.

Would really like us to try out a 433 type setup. With

------ Wanyama------
Omomah ------- Winks
I think that CM3 would offer us a lot in terms of attacking intent, quick passing and defensive solidarity. My hope for Winks is that he can get the surgery and focus on getting fit for next season. Which would then leave Onomah with a pre-season to show Poch and the staff that he's ready to get some minutes for us as a CM.

I'd like us to sign N'Dombele and Onomah to fight for a spot in the squad.

Good enough to sacrifice an attacking player for? It would also mean playing Eriksen out wide, which IMO, doesn't get the best out of him.

In that team I provided, Eriksen/Winks can be interchanged. It was just something I would like us to try out in a cup game with respect to JO and Winks with Wanyama anchoring.

Not sure N'Dombele is even a option. Lyon struck gold with him and I believe have already triggered the clause to buy him outright. Diawara though expensive, might be the best option with his potential and ability to play both sides of the game.

I see, so you mean as a back up option, fair enough. I've said for a while that I would like to see us try a 4-3-3 with Alli, Dier and Eriksen as the 3 CMs and I think what you proposed would be a decent back up option.
