I think that's a bit hard. I think like Amos, he's a competent, technically proficient footballer who just doesn't really excel at anything eye catching, but teams still need these decent functionaries, good water carriers, glue. I'm not saying Marsh is an outstanding example, but I don't mind having decent players of his type around to balance off the more creative types.

It's players like Tracey that I just don't see the logic in, players with creative/attacking remits that are just nowhere near of the required levels, that are keeping players like Shashoua out of the team some of the time.

And extrapolating this logic through, I'd much rather see players like Lesniak, Amos, Marsh or Skipp playing the odd game in our midfield than having to watch Sissoko bumble around like a hot potato juggler.

I note your point regarding that you need other types of players. However, whilst I think Marsh was competent at u18s I feel he is being increasingly found out around higher calibre, stronger, faster footballers. His discilpine is appalling and there has been argument for him to be sent off in nearly every game he's featured in. I don't think his skillset is high enough to warrant waiting to see if he can improve his physical side of the game.

Your Tracey argument is spot on. I find is so depressing that we would stunt game time for players like Shashoua.

Fair points, maybe youve seen more of Marsh than I have, the few games Ive seen, he's always played quite well, competed, been reliable with the ball etc.

I think he fits the Poch profile of hardworking, versatile and solid technical skills. He turned 21 in February, so this pre-season might be his way in. Especially if Winks is still struggling with his ankle and Poch insists on playing Onomah anywhere but as a CM.

I rate Amos, would definitely like to see how he would do in our current team.

Glad to hear that he's doing well. I can see him getting a chance during the pre-season to win Poch and the other coaches over.

The Ireland game was at St. George’s Park must have been filmed. Parrott goal sounds like a banger.

There's highlights up on the FAI website of their last game so I'm sure there'll be one from this game eventually.

Wales u19s lost their first game against Slovakia 4-1. Thorpe started and was the player fouled for the penalty Wales scored.

They also lost 3 -0 to Azerbaijan. I also don't know why Wales are calling it an u19 side there are no players born in 99

Re Parrot, the talk is he will be on our bench before he is 18. I heard that from many, many scouts unrelated to our club. They said we hit the jackpot with this kid. Youth watchers keep us posted how he progresses.

I am told he is a very, very special talent.

I don't that info as from the games I watched with Ireland he looks very good. However, we've seen special talents here before that have gotten nowhere, despite people like McDermott rating and championing them and even our own manager calling them special. So while I have no need to doubt the scouts ultimately the only thing that matters is what head huncho thinks. Regardless of how good he is I can't see him on our bench at 17, though it's great to hear we have such a catch on our hands

I have seen him twice at 15 year old, and he is exceptionally special. Mate, I respect your thoughts, and you are absolutely correct. A certain Dixon comes to mind. I have never since since, even to now, seen anyone near his talent. And I was there watching it all unfold for the worst.

1) Man it would sure be nice to see some youth come through our squad. I know we have had Mason and Kane in recent years and even KWP and Nabil, but I just feel there is this aura around the club that even if you are talented, you won' get into the squad. I know that is all conjecture and being that I am sitting across the pond, in Portland, Oregon none-the-less, there is no way in hell I have any inside scoops on the clubs mentality around youth. But...

2) What is it that is happening internally that seems to be souring a lot of our followers mouths? Is Poch hard headed and refusing to risk something for the sake of a vet? Are we wearing rose colored glasses in regards to the talent we currently have in the youth ranks?

Tbh TOB was on our bench this season at 17. So it’s not that much of a stretch. If we don’t buy an obvious Kane back up make it more likely.

I’d love to know the story behind getting parrott. We don’t have much of an obvious Irish connection as far as I know. And I’m sure he had offers from everyone most likely. Wonder what swung it for us.

I doubt they envisioned a token bench appearance. What I interpreted is that they believe he is so good he would be considered a genuine option off the bench. Lesniak was on the bench and even came on and then left 2 months later, which suggests he wasn't really considered as a serious contender so who knows why he was played. I'm sure many managers just throw kids on the bench to look like they have an intersest

The Slovakian side was also mostly (or fully) U18. Seems like it's generally a bit of an odd tournament.

Noticed that too. I don't think I've seen one DOB in 99, so just seems like an u18 tournament
