Oh dear. @WindyCOYS says he thinks this is legit.

Tottenham starlet Keanan Bennetts is poised to leave the club to join German side Borussia Monchengladbach, Football Insider sources understand.

He probably won't be given a chance here, so he may as well do it. Very frustrating, but good luck to him. Ismail Azzaoui is the last player who made the move to Germany from us and it hasn't quite worked out for him there yet but he's had a decent season on loan in Holland.

Bit gutted about Bennetts if it's true, he's made a lot of progress over the last year and a half and would've liked to have seen him get some chances in the future. Absolutely cannot blame him for leaving though.

azzaoui did his acl soon after leaving to be fair so he effectively lost a year.

disappointed with this news from a spurs pov but when you watch these kids come up through the age groups it's hard not to see it more from their perspective and what's best for them, rather than just looking at it as a fan. what i don't get from that article though is that it says we have an option to extend his deal by a year but we're happy to let him move on? surely we wouldn't do ourselves out of a potentially decent fee.

i wonder if bennetts was the player @IGSpur was referring to in one of his recent posts.

The Football Insider article states we have decided not to activate his one year extension so it seems we are happy to let him leave.

Bit baffling as he has been superb this season and has progressed nicely.

Losing Madueke, Hinds, Griffiths, and Bennetts in one year? Ouch.

the only one there who i think would be making a bad decision to leave is hinds. he's developing nicely but he's a long way from playing first team football, not just here but for any club of a decent level. he's effectively where kwp was four years ago, talented, but titchy. it would be a really risky decision for him to leave, he should be staying where he is for at least the next year. madueke has effectively swapped like-for-like but with a bigger contract at the end of it. griffiths i think is probably being a bit hasty but as @IGSpur said, you can understand him chancing his arm. bennetts has the physique and the athleticism as well as the ability to be playing senior football so why wouldn't he jump at the chance gladbach are supposedly offering him, rather than spending the next few years either locked in the training ground or bouncing between loans and u23s.

Aren't Borussia Monchengladbach the team that Liverpool are currently accusing of tapping up youth players?

Admittedly that's a bit ironic coming from Liverpool...

Tbf he’s the one I look forward to watching of all our youth players.

Imo I believe he’d be better than spending £30m odd on Sessegnon but if that’s not the case then I’m happy for these players to go and play first team football.

Tbf, Azzaoui's played over 1000 minutes in the Eredivisie this season at the age of 20, so I reckon he made the right move.

Time and time again myself and others have been accused of catastrophising Spurs' lack of use of our young players and now the impact of our lack of post-U18 planning is coming to fruition.

If I was a Sporting Director at a European club I'd be all over the English market, there's so much untapped talent - a money-ball dream because all they need is opportunity and suddenly they're worth a fortune!

Had Bennetts been on the bench for a couple of League Cup matches earlier in the season he'd probably feel integrated and like he wants to stick around. Heck, he could have been used at LWB when Walker-Peters was having to fill in there. Had he played, he'd have suddenly been worth £3/4/5m easily IMO. Had he done well he'd be worth double that, perhaps more. So even from the 'Academy players aren't good enough for the first team' perspective, it's worth giving them minutes just to add value.
