With the kids it goes one of two ways they either immediately get sounded out as the greatest thing ever or if they don't come in and make an immediate impact they are suddenly ready for the scrap heap.

I think on the whole Sissoko has not been as bad as some of us think and if a kid had performed to his level and showed the maturity then people probably would be excited by him where the truth is often somewhere in between

I fundamentally disagree. If I saw a kid in our U18's with Sissoko's deficiencies (technical, tactical etc) I'd be critical (see what Ive said about Tracey for example).

When I first started reading this thread it was the best on SC as it was informative and focused mainly on updating people about the players, matches, contracts etc. Lately it is all about opinion and the same repetitive argument about Poch giving youth players a chance/not giving them a chance etc. Unfortunately this just feels like every other thread on here now and has definitely lost its unique appeal.

Surely you're going to expect the very people that have a massive interest in our youth to discuss or share their concerns when those players leaving. It's quite a big thing. It's hardly those people stirring anything.

Players leave then people either say they're annoyed that we're losing them or praise the players for looking for a career elsewhere. Then people enter and complain at posters for highlighting that they dont have an opportunity, like Parker says, like Sporting Directors abroad say and like the players leaving clearly believe, and try to convince everyone.

People have consciously avoided this topic but can't be ignored now

Our u14s competed in the Mayor of Brno Cup (or Primator Cup, I think) I believe in Czech Republic. And beat Bayern Munich in the final on penalties.

Info here with some vids I'll try and get round to watching tomorrow.

Dane Scarlett was top scorer

Another victory for this age group.

Clearly not up to scratch.
Only one double barrelled name in the squad.
Who recruits these guys?

Dante Cassanova sounds classy.
and Dane Scarlett clearly will go on to film stardom
But 'Staff' never gonna make it.
What's in a name?[/QUOTE/]

Trust he’s the Captain!

Just that clip of Griffiths makes me think he is a bit of a twat

Everyone does dumb stuff at seventeen, maybe he’s being a bit of an attention seeker or whatever but lay off him, he’s young. Imagine if every word you said at that age was recorded on social media, and analysed by hundreds of fans, you’d come off a twat as well.

But he is going to be a professional footballer ,so these are the pitfalls .I have no doubt in my mind that Tottenham as the club have already educated their boys on how social media works ,for and against you .He clearly has chosen not taken their advice. Where is his agent in all this why is he not advising him to do things the correct way . If he doesn’t listen to his agent and he doesn’t listen to his club then unfortunately people will pass judgement , then you cannot blame fans For their perception of him , for the way that he comes across .

Yeah that’s all true, he’s making mistakes, but I don’t want to see people judging him, he’s a kid really. Maybe he’ll mature into a true professional.

He might be a self centred, arrogant egotist or he might just be a bit of a joker, who enjoys winding people up. Either way as long as he does the business on the pitch I don't really care. Some of Dele's social media posts were questionable when he was younger but he has turned out ok

was bostock ever actually that good or was it just the hype of making his debut stupidly young and the subsequent furore over his move to spurs inflating his reputation?

i was reading through an old england youth thread a while ago and i remember seeing a few posts saying how they don't really see what the fuss is with him or how he's no better than the likes of gary gardner and a few of the other players in the squad, the only other overriding feeling on him was that he was just more physically developed than most at that age. would be interested to hear from anyone who actually watched a good amount of him at youth level and what their thoughts on him were. how did he compare to onomah for example in terms of ability?

just watched the 2nd game and #11(roshaun mathurin?) looked good, similar style of player to j'neil bennett.

edit: watched the final, bayern were the better side so we were a bit fortunate to win - with possibly shortest the penalty shoot-out in history?

is #10 omari forson? he looks too strong and athletic for this age group, i get the feeling he'd possibly be better off being pushed up a year.

I saw quite a lot of Bostock and always felt that he had lovely technique but was well behind others in terms of positioning/decision-making, so didn't really fit into a team very well.

Interesting to me of the balance of attitude/talent.
One without the other is obviously a hindrance.
But does the balance change as they develop.
Seems that Onomah has the talent
but attitude has been the problem.
Same with Edwards.
Or do we judge them too early

Maghoma looking likely to be join F.C. twente now.

Is that a shame as he seemed quite a talented centre back although not really been linked with our first team squad like others have been?
