He's been at the club at least a year longer than I expected and I can't quite work out why. But best of luck to him, hope he has a good career.

I liked Christian before he went full-time. he always seemed very composed and the most defender-ish of our young defenders. Unfortunately what I took as a refreshing simplicity to his game was probably just a set of limitations which became more and more apparent as he grew. As the level of opposition went up his reading of the game began to let him down and as he grew heavier and bulkier his balance, mobility and lack of pace also began to hold him back. I still like him as a simple head it, kick it, lay it off to someone else nice and calmly type defender in a side that accommodates that and I still have hopes that with game time in a proper league situation his awareness, positioning and anticipation will improve. I could easily see him returning to Britain and having a very decent career in Scotland or England (League 2 up to the mid table of the Championship) maybe in two or three years. What he isn't and is never going to be is a mobile, pacy, ball-playing centre-back that can recover once a ball is past him which is sort of a pre-requisite for us.

Seems like this is a sort of clear the decks summer?

Was always gonna be a bottle neck. Must be first season in a long long time where not one single youth player has made any sort of claim on the senior squad. When you take KWP was already in squad start of season. Apart from TOB brief bench appearances start of season. Nobody has had a sniff.

But he is going to be a professional footballer ,so these are the pitfalls .I have no doubt in my mind that Tottenham as the club have already educated their boys on how social media works ,for and against you .He clearly has chosen not taken their advice. Where is his agent in all this why is he not advising him to do things the correct way . If he doesn’t listen to his agent and he doesn’t listen to his club then unfortunately people will pass judgement , then you cannot blame fans For their perception of him , for the way that he comes across .

Would always suggest not reading too much into someones social media, especially when it's the only real snapshot you have into their lives. Especially when they're actual kids.

Having said that, is funny that he's good mates with Martell Taylor-Crossdale, who is basically his clone at Chelsea. Scores goals for fun, but there's something there that's a bit off and rumblings about attitude etc.

it's only maghoma and pritchard so far, would expect a couple more to go the same way but that's usually the case every season. maybe it just seems like there's more this year because of bennetts leaving and others rumoured to be actively looking to move.

Interesting to me of the balance of attitude/talent.
One without the other is obviously a hindrance.
But does the balance change as they develop.
Seems that Onomah has the talent
but attitude has been the problem.
Same with Edwards.
Or do we judge them too early

What? Onomah doesn’t have attitude problems

wow, tsaroulla. he has been out the entire season i guess, maybe they don't think he can play again? a real shame as he had a really strong 2nd year as an u18. i'm still a bit surprised by brown too, i don't think he's amazing but he's better than a lot of players we've been keeping on recently, would expect he'll get picked up by another nearby club - qpr, watford, palace maybe.

So have we got any young left backs still at the club with Bennetts, Brown, Ogilvie and Tsaroulla all going?

only jamie reynolds - who only really started playing at left back this season(previously an attacking mid), tariq hinds has also played there a lot but he's a right back really and there's still a question over his future. dennis cirkin(a new scholar) will be the lb for the u18s with reynolds moving up to the u23s.

edit: there's georgiou as well, at a push.

The U21/U23's group will look a little something like this then...

GK: Brandon Austin (20)
GK: Alfie Whiteman (20)
RB: TJ Eyoma (18)
RB: Tariq Hinds (18)
GK: Jonathan De Bie (18)
CB: Japhet Tanganga (19)
CB: Jonathan Dinzeyi (18)
CB: Brooklyn Lyons-Foster (17)
CM: Oliver Skipp (17)
CM: Dylan Duncan (20)
CM: George Marsh (20)
CM: Luke Amos (21)
CM: TOB (18)
CM: Jamie Reynolds (18)
CM: Paris Maghoma (17)
RM: Samuel Shashoua (20)
RM: Dilan Markanday (17)
LM: Anthony Georgiou (21)
AM: Jack Roles (20)
AM: Marcus Edwards (20)
AM: Phoenix Patterson (17)
ST: Kazaiah Sterling (20)
ST: Reo Griffiths (18)

The additions of BLF, Paris, Markanday & Patterson are part hunch and part hope. I certainly think there's room for them. I also think the club are very keen on little Armando Shashoua so we could see him move up partially without really establishing himself at U18 first.
Finally, there was no mention in the release list per LillywhiteRose of Freeman leaving. I'd have to assume that he is given that he's barely featured in the last two years and when he did he was very shakey but you just never know.

Am I the only one who rates Jayden Brown? I saw a bit of Danny Rose in him

Nah. not enough going forward or on the ball. The higher level he plays at the more likely he'll be a left sided centre half in a three. At lower levels he may have some job as a bog standard fullback but, personally, I can see him dropping out of professional football very quickly. I think there are plenty of fullbacks with roughly his skillset who are perhaps bigger, stronger and faster. if the likes of Alexander McQueen can't get a professional club at the moment then I don't fancy Brown's chances.

We’re so blessed with having great CB’s. Tanganga and BLF are both great and have the potential to be Premier League players imo, BLF has a bigger chance of making it with us because he’s so good with the ball.
And TJ Eyoma can also play as a CB and that’s where I see his future at
Edit: And Poch seems to rate Dinzeyi

I agree about TJ. I think his spell at right back is just about improving his carrying and use of the ball. In that regard he has definitely made progress although not tons. My hope is that he is integrated back into the centre relatively quickly. We don't want him becoming typecast as a big lumbering right back.

Tanganga, people rave about and I can kind of see it but I do think he's got a lot going against him that people fail to take into account. I don't know if its just perception but he does look very small for a centre back. Yes I know size isn't the be and end all but the small centre backs tend to be exceptional at something else. I don't know if I'd call Tanganga exceptional at something. He's still very raw so obviously he could tighten areas up but I just don't see a Premier League defender when I'm looking at him. I see him as a reactive centre half which can obviously be a good thing but its also something not in high demand. A reactive centre half is of best use in a terrible defence when the opposition regularly penetrate and you need a covering player there to act as a blocker of last resort. Very few teams plan to play that way. Of course I could be completely wrong and he goes on to play 400 games for us and lifts the Premier League trophy. At this stage its always so difficult to tell but those are my honest impressions.

Based off the pics and the games watched I don't think that is the squad but more the players we have that could have qualified for the tournament, as there are couple of good players in there I was looking out for but couldn't see

@topper
He is their captain

just watched the 2nd game and #11(roshaun mathurin?) looked good, similar style of player to j'neil bennett.

edit: watched the final, bayern were the better side so we were a bit fortunate to win - with possibly shortest the penalty shoot-out in history?

is #10 omari forson? he looks too strong and athletic for this age group, i get the feeling he'd possibly be better off being pushed up a year.

I'll watch the 2nd game in a bit. On the first where Haysman is picking out some quality passes, adn Hackett has really started to look even better.

No. 10 is Forson and he has always been a lot bigger than his age group, as I've mentioned a couple of times, he's been pushed up a couple of years groups on at least 3 occasions I'm aware, so the coaches have the same idea as you. I imagine it's similar for Hackett too is is also quite tall. As I've said before a lot of quality spread around the age group.

For future reference L to R: Shannon Brown, Dante Casanova, Reuell Walters, Adam Hayton, Jordan Hackett, Roshaun Mathurin, Dane Scarlett, Omari Forson, Jaden WIlliams, Aaron Maguire(big), Khalon Haysman, Renaldo Torraj(small), Don't know, Jahziah Linton, Shaun something (possibly Shaon Senkubunge from squad list)

Also a squad pic of the age group when they were u13s last year taken, from the site with the squad list.
