Not disputing your info, but surely it will be bench again. And then you’d think it will depend how the game pans out.

In regard to Rice I followed West Ham pretty closely as the stadium implosion was pretty amusing. They were hopeful on Burke Cullen and Rice. Was always pretty obvious to me that Rice was a class act, he just has a presence about him on the pitch. He’s not one of those players you have to search for on the pitch he just stands out. Must saw never heard a word about diagane, but they seem to pick up a lot of big club cast offs at about 14/15.
Remember seeing Reece Oxford at 17 playing for England under 19 and he looked a different class to the rest.
He has fallen away after loan to Germany. He is best mates with Marcus and appears to have gone the same way

Sean Longstaff of Newcastle...21yrs old ....getting good reviews after 2 games last week. By his record he has never been near an England team and yet again only gets his chance because of injuries.
It is as if managers do not have the courage to put these players in on merit. The decision has to be made for them.
One thing I will defend poch on, in regards to youth players

Is that our academy style/philosophy and Poch style/philosophy doesn't match up at all.

When Poch took over imo in terms of quality, the academy wasn't far off Chelsea with the crop coming through

However the style of players Poch likes, were the type of players chelsea have scouted, players who are physically strong for their position and less emphasis on skill and more malleable in terms of what the manager wants from them. Not saying chelsea youth players aren't skilful.

Since Poch has taken over, the academy imo is a basterdised version of itself. Trying to mould players who dont fit the poch model in to the posh system

KWP has just signed a five year contract...prob so they get a good fee when they sell. Trip and Aurier are regularly making mistakes and he still cannot get a game.

Oxford is a weird one remember he played the first few games under Bilic he must have been 17 and they beat Arsenal he was MOTM.

So what would we consider realistic options in the AM/winger role. Georgiou and Roles not sure if we could recall Shashoua ? Although talented would assume none of U18s ready Bennet Richards etc.

Roles will make the step up I'm. Sure but he's far better centrally.. Georgiou conversion to left back will make or break him Imho.

From what little I see from some video clips, Roles can play the Dele role, stealing into scoring position unnoticed.

Shame Edwards isn’t still here/being rated by Poch. He’d be on benches consistently until Kane and Dele were back and likely have at least started the Palace game. This would’ve been his opportunity to maybe stake a claim to being a more valued squad member next season.

He looks good in that video. Is he anywhere near ready for first team minutes? We need all the bodies we can get, and as Poch has been saying this is an opportunity for people to step up.

Then said player does well, and the manager gets praised. Complete lack of trust in youth in this country. Compare to Germany it's embarrassing.

If I remember correctly West Ham mucked him around, he was being kept on Monchengladbach's bench being eased in and then West Ham recalled him as they panicked over injuries but left him in the u23s. Remember Oxford came on against us in the PL once at CB and did well. Another who has been wasted. Both handled poorly imo, not that there is any guarantee that they would both make it but their platform wasn't the best

I really REALLY want Roles to be given a chance against Palace. I'd love to see what he can do at senior level. He gets goals....

Will be a very interesting team v Palace. With 2 important league games within the following week and our injuries there are going to be places for more than skipp and KWP. The bench should be interesting. Fully expect Parrot to be there.

It's interesting to observe... in this thread many bash Pochettino for not trusting the academy players enough while in the transfer rumour section the same Pochettino is now getting bashed for trusting the academy players too much (i.e. not going out and spending on players)

i don't read the transfer rumours section but i'd suggest those saying the latter need to get a grip. kwp and skipp have about half a dozen starts between them this season, that's the extent of our trust in youth players. any opportunities for youth players are the result of not signing anyone, not the cause.
