Parrott is the real deal.took out 2 men for first goal and perfect pass to Edwards. Had another lovely run went pass 3 then fouled. Can’t believe he’s 16. But very isolated up top.

That was great play from two lads who look to have all the ability to make it.

Shame Edwards seems to have burned bridges already.

Thought Edwards was poor on the whole tonight. Some very poor decision making. We were so sloppy at times very lucky to get 1–1 they absolutely battered us. But to a degree we let them especially 2nd half sat so deep. Just don’t see how this benefits in players development at this level. I’d rather see us lose 5-2 but at least have a go. Felt sorry for parrott so isolated absolutely ran his heart out, collapsed on final whistle in exhaustion.

Edit: didn’t realise we had 10 men had no volume haha.

We were down to 10 men, so expected Liverpool to be all over us really.

I think the point is with the U23'S is that it is serious League part of their development is for them to sit deep and grind out a result. Football for them is now a job I think one of the things that needs installing in the boys is the message they have now moved up and results matter. For me that was a bit of a failing in the past and over the last season or so when they were in danger of going down that message seemed to be understood and results improved. I think when you are down and especially when you have lost your first game you don't want to lose and get hammered but do a couple of back heels and a Crujff turn in having a go. Never saw the game but well done

You never know, the fact of the matter is he is in the u23s and he's putting the effort in with his performances and that to me indicates he is on the road to mending fences and if he knuckles down at this level then maybe a cup game or two will go his way. I'm being bias because this is what I want to happen admittedly.

The Liverpool no 7 was slightly terrifying. Great dribbling and pace but poor decisions and finishing.

I want Edwards in the first team. No one else has his skill set and he can be eased in because of his attacking position. He's made some bad mistakes but we've also failed to give him any chances since that league cup(?) debut. I think poch is way too stubborn with the kids sometimes, especially the big 3 thus far.

Has Edwards grown a little bit maybe an inch or two. He now just looks small not tiny. At one point I just thought he was too small to make it. But his size doesn’t seem quite so obvious now.

I don't usually post on here but I managed to see 70 mins of the game last night which is a rarity for me to see any u23 football at all. Overall I was impressed with the tenacity and effort from the lads considering we were down to 10 men after 2 mins. I think we tried to play on the counter but as the game wore on the team became absolutely shattered but they hung in there. There's obviously some players with good technical ability, Edwards & Georgieu (not sure on spelling) stood out for me; I felt Maghoma kept trying to pass forward which was a positive, and Marsh got in the way of everything. Although its unfair to judge too much because they were under pressure all game, if I had any negatives Id say that some of the defenders, for as well as they defended didn't look too comfortable on the ball. But again maybe that's unfair due to the circumstances of the game.

I refuse to believe that Onomah offers less than Sissoko. Similarly KWP and Aurier.

Most of what Poch has done is great but the above two decisions are baffling. Especially KWP.

Big statement to see Parrott at this level so early. Did we even do that with Edwards? Carter-Vickers and Onomah the only players I can remember to have played at this level so young in recent years.

skipp last season, though he's a september born so wouldn't have been 16 for long. bennetts did it as well before dropping back down. no doubt parrott is highly thought of but with sterling injured(pretty badly apparently), griffiths gone and tracey not there for whatever reason there weren't many other options. could have gone with harrison up top and roles behind but i'm not sure roles is particularly rated at the club, at least it doesn't seem that way given how he's often overlooked with players a year or two younger than him preferred. think rodel richards is injured as well who could play there. hope parrott does stay up with the u23s though, maghoma too and maybe bring markanday up as well up if marcus leaves.

Parrott is a class act. I’ve never been as sure that a young player would be a first teamer since Barmby played against Lazio in a friendly at 18 years old. These players just stand out.

Not sure what the problem is or what can be done but it's such a damn shame that Edwards probably isn't going to ever progress here and get a chance. He's so ridiculously gifted, it would be just really sad if he never fulfilled his potential. Sad for him, the club and the fans he'd have brought a lot of excitement to.
