They beat the LA Galaxy (meh) academy 0-0 on penalties, the Columbus Crew (not a good academy), and Crossfire Premier, who I've never heard of before. Hardly a murderers row. The premier academies in the US are FC Dallas, NY Red Bulls, and Real Salt Lake.

It's also tough to have a lot of "homegrown talent" when their academy was only launched 3 years ago.
Already signed 3 players in that time tho. Spurs should win, but doubt nycfc are any push overs

I understand you have a bias against them as your employer is the energy drink and you support an opposing team in one of their owners priority teams league, but sheesh. You have to start somewhere. Jesus. Should they not have a senior academy team then because they just started out? Same should go for Atlanta and LA #3 then? The more academy’s with all the sides in them, top coaches, and support staff in this country, the better. Also, NYC can be allowed to call them club trained players if Spurs are allowed to call Danny Rose club trained

Never said they shouldn't have an academy team, just said Spurs should win pretty easily. Just out here stating facts.

I don't get why we've not made any subs. Bring on Kirby and Bayliss to relieve some pressure

Happy for Tanganga, really like him. He’s not the tallest but still scores many headers from set pieces. I don’t see what Poch sees in Dinzeyi to let him go the USA with us last year instead of Tanganga

Looks like Dinzeyi is also training with the first team. So either another we haven't released or England rate Tanganga higher, which I imagine is the case

On the back of a good (and rather unexpected) World Cup you would have thought that just maybe the clubs would get behind the England program. Not so, much to my anger. England have just announced their U19 squad for the UEFA U19 Championship starting today. What has happened is that England have announced basically a reserve team (including 3 who have never played for England at any level). We have some really good players at this level who should be playing, not just for the honour, but for valuable tournament experience. But of course English clubs have not released some players (strangely those with foreign managers - with some notable exceptions). In fact I can reel off 9 certain starters with ease :- Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Phil Foden. Jadon Sancho, Ryan Sessegnon, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah , Reece James and Joe Willock. Others like Andre Dozzell are injured but to say these nine are injured is clearly not true. I could mention others who have appeared regularly in the squad this past year such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Flynn Downes, Trystan Nydam, Keanan Bennetts and Ben Wilmott who are not in the squad. Absolutely shameful from our clubs and shame on the FA to let them get away with it. I know some of you on this site are not bothered but the one thing I do know Spurs, to their credit, have always released their young players. It should be remembered that the semi-finalists in this tournament qualify for next years U20 WORLD CUP in which we are the holders. I am not saying we won't reach the semi's but given the group we are in (includes France) our chances are not great.

Why should clubs feel obliged to put England - or any international team football - before their own (or their player's) interests. Even from a footballing perspective, the clubs academies are giving players a much better technical and tactical education than England youth football is.

England youth football aren't investing the time and money on the daily education and development of these players that the clubs are. The England youth national teams are generally not very well coached, and teach the players very little, the experience they get of international tournament football is of limited use at this stage of their development, it's good coaching and week to week proper football they need.

In this particular case, even Dan Ashworth said this is the fault of FIFA organising this tournament outside a normal schedule window, also after a World Cup which would be depriving clubs of senior players, meaning they need to supplement squads from their academy players.
