Can see people seriously not see a difference between going to a few parties as a teenager and turning up late to training every day whilst on loan?

Can people seriously not see the difference between turning up late a few times as a teenager and people actually committing crimes. I've seen Edwards compared to Ranger and Morrison.

Ok....

No one is saying that here and now so it’s not really relevant to anything

People have. And it's more people over reacting massively and getting onto a teenager who's made a mistakes and could easily recover but he's been written off as a bad boy already

Agree, the boy looks and sounds like an idiot. Without football he'd be running in a gang. Total loser. He could have had more than most of of us could ever dream of. For the sake of putting a cap on the right way around (poetic license).

Unless he was late to training because he was going out at night, which some Norwich fans claimed was happening. A few posters (could be bullshit) claimed seeing him at a local bar/night club.

wow, what shit luck is that. the curse of the left backs, first tsaroulla and now reynolds. i guess that explains the u-turn on jaden brown then.

There is a fundamental difference between Grealish and Edwards. Grealish, for all his crap, was doing it day in day out on the training ground and was a shining light in the couple of Premier League appearences he made. Edwards, by my understanding, hasn't done that in a long time. When he first started training with the first team he caught everyone's attention and then just as quickly...it stopped and it hasn't returned. No one at the club is talking to the media about what a tragic loss of talent this kid is, no first teamer is raving about him week after week trying to get through to him by going public. That was not the case for Grealish. From day one he was tearing it up against the first teamers and they weren't shy about telling people about it. Now, unless people are suggesting that our players and staff are under a gagging order to keep quiet about this genius in our ranks who is so close to mega stardom if he could only knuckle down then I've got a bridge to sell you. There are some issues in our development of players, everyone acknowledges this. Edwards is an entirely different situation. His last two and half years have been wasted and a very large part of the responsibility for that lays with Edwards for that.

Isn’t one fundamental difference that even though Grealish was continually behaving badly, he was still given chances to play games and shine? He was indulged. Rightly or wrongly.

The question with Edwards is when and, maybe, more importantly, why it stopped. One minute Poch is comparing him to Messi - did Grealish ever receive such an accolade?

Chances are, if Edwards was at Villa he’d have had a lot more chance to shine because clearly Villa’s coaching staff (and economics of their situation) were far more tolerant of non footballing issues.

I don’t know about the other stuff, we’ve had various stories emanating from Spurs factions (and lately Norwich) about Edwards, from the mini Messi stuff, to the impressing people with his skill stuff, to earning a first team chance and putting in a very impressive 15 minutes, to then saying he’s talented but needs to listen and buckle down, to the stuff at Norwich.

Your comparison with your own kids is a complete non-sequitur. Your kids are not enrolled in an elite academy, having been groomed in the ways of the professional sports person since they were nippers. A big part of the academy process is to weed out those that are not emotionally equipped for the life of a professional footballer.

Yeah, like that always works. Even if academies were faultless in terms of looking after children's pastoral, mental and emotional well being and catering for their every need in that respect, they would still not be able to prevent the emotional, hormonal and general life turmoil that can effect a teenager on a day to day basis, but they are not faultless, and in some cases being in the football bubble just exasperates that, doesn't help these kids be rounded individuals that normal life can.

These kids still go through mucho of the same emotional turmoil that other teenagers do, only they are doing it under a magnified spotlight. So problems at home, parents divorcing, birds, mates, how cool or uncool they are, anxiety, depression, other mental problems, etc etc can still effect them, only they are under the added pressure of having to perform every day or face their dream being fucked away.

Nothing that's been aimed at Edwards is as bad as some of the shit that Grealish was getting called out for. And you have no idea at all if he was turning it on in raining every day, for all you know he was fucking about being a billy big bollocks there to. Most of it comes down to the fact that Villa weren't in a position to toss away an asset, as they were fucked.

I don't think anyone has even heard Edwards speak and then people come out with assessments like that. Saying that though, what if he does come from an incredibly difficult background and has outside influences on him, people do not know what he is going through personally regardless. As you know he is only 19.

Literally 2 posts later someone is claiming he would be a gang member based off him being late for training at Norwich.

For the gang thing, I'm hoping it was just a really weak attempt at satire.

Yeah that guy is a prick, not sure how he read my post and thought that his post playing into racial stereotypes of young black men being in gangs was a follow on from that. I doubt he’d say a young white player who was late for training would be in a gang.

But that was after my post and unfortunately I can’t see into the future so my post was still correct and whilst some people are pricks about Edwards, who’s clearly got some mental problems, it doesn’t make it any less unfair to compare Grealish with Edwards

What a monumental waste of talent. Whether he's culpable, the club or a bit of both my overriding feelings are that it's a criminal waste of a special, special player.

On reflection it's not fair on people who want to use this thread to lock it completely as it is a bit of a niche market so to speak.

So......

As long as Its isn't dragged in here we'll leave this thread open. Please DO NOT POST ITK in here.

sometimes i wonder if the club is writing off our young players too early. for example, mason was loaned out so many times and finally become a starter at 24.
