On reflection it's not fair on people who want to use this thread to lock it completely as it is a bit of a niche market so to speak.

So......

As long as Its isn't dragged in here we'll leave this thread open. Please DO NOT POST ITK in here.
Thanks A&C, I know a lot of people love this thread and would be gutted to lose it, if somewhat temporarily. I am sure you can rely on the regular posters/lurkers to self-moderate as imo it's one of the best threads on the site.

sometimes i wonder if the club is writing off our young players too early. for example, mason was loaned out so many times and finally become a starter at 24.
There are countless examples of late-bloomers who really shine in the early to mid twenties, the one that springs to mind is Lingard. The problem is it's not really up to the club a lot of the time, in the modern game how many players would be willing to hang around is bit part players/bench warmers until they're 23/24, when they think they can get first team football at 19/20 either abroad (as we're starting to see a lot more of) or at other clubs.

Onomah has a knee injury according to Dan Kilpatrick.
For some strange reason I’m banned in the Onomah thread so I post this here

A few years ago, there were comments from someone in the Spurs academy, possibly McDermott, that they were looking to bring players through to the senior team when they were 21/22, rather that as 18/19 year olds. The problem is that most of today's 18/19 year olds seem to think they should step into first team squad as soon as they sign a professional contract. Very few are ready at that age but the club does need to find away to encourage/show the best young players that there is a route towards the first team so that they don't leave at the earliest opportunity.

There’s some pictures on Getty. I think it’s tournament you’ve been posting about. They look very young.

Out of interest asking the experts. What’s the youngest you think you can seriously judge a kid ? I don’t tend to take to much notice on here of U16 downwards. But I’m sure you guys can spot serious talent at 15?

Talent is easily spotted and is rarely that relevant to a player making it. You can see ability from 8/9 up (If not younger), 14/15 is when most of the scouts from English clubs start circling around youth leagues in Northern Ireland anyway.

Attitude > Ability in the balance of things IMO.

Yep it was McDermott interviewed by someone on COYS. He said that about the age thing.

Billy Bricknell, Billal Sayoud & Mason Tunridge are all former Spurs youth. If that Brandon Adams is the lad who was at QPR then he started with us as well. I don't see Tyler Campbell, John Kyriacou or Taylor McKenzie's names in the lineup but they were with Enfield last season and all started with us. Another Spurs connection is assistant manager Mario Noto who also started his career with us.

Missing out on a trip to America with the first team to other arguably less gifted lads who act more professionally should be a good motivator.

Thanks for confirming my comments. It was in relation to Spurs often signing up smaller, less mature players who would develop later - rather than signing schoolboys who were taller, stronger and more developed than their peers.
