as things stand we are not making any signings, i wonder if the likes of georgiou, amos, marsh, eyoma and skipp would be promoted to the first team

In my opinion none are good enough , other then skipp who has potential . Chelsea bring through Hudson-odoi , city bring through phil Foden and we bring through George marsh . It’s embarasing , what in God’s name is pochetino thinking .

He was probably thinking I need to put out 11 players with subs, I have over 11 players(can't think the exact number, too early) late back from the world cup with 9 being in the final game stages.

I have injuries to a few players and unable to fill all 11 outfield players and subs without using youths. You don't know how good they will be until they are given a shot, it's pre season so no harm with the circumstances we are in.

With the fact that we have so many injuries, returning WC players, Kane having his second child and no signings I am guessing we will have an almost full bench of outfield academy players on Saturday! The one silver lining of not strengthening our squad!

I read this thread quite often and may have posted once in here.

For all those regulars who feel strongly about the youth in the squad and based upon the outpouring currently going on in the TW forum, who if any would you say is ready to be given the chance to come into the first team?

It's a genuine question from me and only asked purely on what they as prospects could offer us this season.

i still think the best two by some distance are onomah and edwards but it seems quite clear that poch doesn't particularly rate and/or like either so i don't expect to see them involved. then you have skipp who is a quality prospect but it's a bit too soon for him to be playing significant minutes, i still hope he can make a handful of appearances over the course of the season though. amos seems to be the best placed but whilst i've always liked him, i don't like him anywhere near as much as the aforementioned three, he can come in and do a solid job but i wouldn't expect any more than that from him. obviously there's kwp too but he's already a [fringe] first teamer so wasn't really including him in any of that.

KWP won't let us down. Other than that...

Amos, Georgiou, CCV, Marsh, Ogilvie, Sterling, Harrison, Shashoua and Tracey would probably struggle.

Onomah, Skipp, Edwards, Tanganga, Roles, TOB & Eyoma all have potential but are not quite there to varying degrees.

The only one I'd have no hesitations about is KWP.

Thank you for this. I hope that these players mentioned are involved and at the forefront of perhaps what is going to happen come season start.

Thank you for the names and the response, I look forward to continuing to read the thread and the info and views posted in here as the season continues.

Maybe time to reassess the Edward situation if we don’t sign anyone, would be great if he could feel he’s being trusted and buckle up his shit

Poch's very paternalistic. Whether you agree with it or not he believes that the youngsters should be respectful, dedicated and professional. Fergie was the same. A 'This is my house and you will abide by my rules' attitude prevailed. Ryan Giggs tells a story where he was in so much fear of Fergie that one day when he and some of the other young lads were messing about at one of their houses with some girls and Fergie barged in unannounced, he (Giggs) hid in a wardrobe until Fergie had peeled the wallpaper off and left. Think about that. The future Ryan Giggs, one of the best footballers this country has seen, knew his f*cking place and would rather cower in a wardrobe than give the boss any lip or give him the "Am I bothered" treatment.

Edwards is the sort of young lad that would rub Poch up the wrong way. He's not a complete tearaway but he's also not very cooperative, humble or professional.

Yeah of course but it’s not like Edwards has done anything unforgivable. I also remember in the book poch spoke a lot about Edwards’s problems and he sounded like he wanted to find a solution. I personally can forgive being late to training for Norwich if he can offer us something for the first team.

We’ll see but it’s gone very quiet on Edwards leaving

Maybe not unforgivable but he was allegedly late for training every single day. He's a representative of the club and It paints us in a pretty bad light if a player we send on loan does that.

It was also meant to be his audition for us. He went there to prove that Poch's concerns were ill-founded and that he could behave in a professional manner. Unfortunately Marcus absolutely took the piss and that is something that we all know Poch take a very dim view of.
