So what sort of lineup are we expecting tonight? Does Skipp now disappear into Poch's training only abyss?

i imagine so yeah (n)

austin; eyoma, dizzy, tanganga, ogilvie; marsh, tob; edwards, harrison, shashoua; tracey

something like that probably? this group is a bit of a mess though isn't it. some players there who are wasting their time at this level and some who are just clearly not good enough.

Transfer windows are tough, mods crack down. Have no idea what happened but it's their site we're just guests. So lets move on.

How would you compare skipp to amos?

Skipp is much more combative than Amos imo. I think that’s what makes Skipp the more exciting prospect. In that basically in theory he is a complete midfielder. Reminds me a bit in potential of Roy Keane.

Is anyone from the U23s even a loan candidate?

doesn't seem like it. you'd think that if edwards isn't sold then given he still has two years on his deal that trying another loan for him makes way more sense than wasting yet more time in the u23s. tanganga could do with playing somewhere now i reckon but his contract situation makes it difficult. ogilvie and harrison need to go and forge a career for themselves, georgiou another who should surely be on loan somewhere. i know keepers tend to hang around longer than outfielders but i don't really see what the end game with whiteman and austin is. if shashoua hadn't wasted much of last year sat behind tracey then he might be in a better position now but instead he's playing catch up. i know sterling is injured currently but griffiths going means he's probably going to be kept back just to fill a spot, which isn't great.

i don't want to be negative but every player who has gone through this same cycle has end up coming out of it looking as though they've either stagnated or gone backwards - onomah, ccv, edwards, tob. i remember one time josh hadn't played in months, he finally got a game for the u23s and was the worst i'd ever seen him. tob got a few games towards the end of last season and really struggled, he had injury problems as well to be fair but going months on end without playing surely isn't best for their development. international breaks must be a relief to them as it's often the only time they get to play an actual game or two.

Never really get why players like Foyth and KWP can’t play in U23 games. I guess they have to keep a reasonable number of U23 to have a squad to cope with sheer number of games. U18 will have heavy schedule with CL.

Sooooo from those who know about our youth players (which isn't me), do you think Edwards has a future at the club, or is he basically done with us?

as much as i'd like to believe otherwise, it seems unlikely at this point. my preference would be to sort him out another loan and hope that it goes better than the last one, with two years left on his deal it's basically a free shot and who knows, maybe it'll work out. if not then i'd rather we just sold him now, i don't want to see him wasting his talent playing in the u23s any longer and it serves no purpose for us to do so if he's just going to leave anyway.
