Surprised Tobi is going given we're actively looking to recruit replacements for him.

My understanding is that he was never on our books, he was just here on trial. I don't know that for sure but that was what I thought.

You may well be right. I know he went to a couple of tournaments early this decade along with Alasan Ann when both were at Luton. I remember Ann as I ended up watching him quite regularly when he played for Hitchin. He's at Selby Town now.

Stephy Mavididi has gone to Juventus and Dan Crowley is finally starting to find his feet at Willem II. Feel that there was another English player I read had gone abroad but can't think of who it is

That's it Roberts. How could I forget.

Apparently he got on yesterday as well.

Crowley was such a talent but for whatever reason it never happened for him in England I always remember the debate over the age group was who was the bigger talent between him and Onomah. Crowley had massive rep at Villa and never filled it at Arsenal. He struggled for games last season but has started this season really well. Hope it comes off for him, as he is still young and the talent is most likely still there. If he overtakes Onomah considering how far Crowley fell off the map, that will be incredible.

Roberts is the other one. Don't know what happened between him and the England coaches, as he was still never being chosen but playing in La Liga will be great for him. 2 talented players from that age group getting game time will only be good for England. If Roberts fulfils his potential there is still serious talent there I reckon.

Agreed. That said, if Crowley were to overtake Onomah I think that's pretty telling that we've not helped Josh develop as he could have.

With Roberts, I wonder if Scotland is sometimes seen as a bit of a player graveyard. I can't remember the last time a player got called up for English age group football when north of the border. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Kent and Ejaria while they're up there.

It's good to see Keanan Bennetts has a first team squad number for Mönchengladbach by the way. I was hoping he may have played a part in the 11-1 cup win at the weekend but unfortunately not.

it's so frustrating to see taa and wan-bissaka start for liverpool and palace whilst kwp's career still hasn't even really got started - and doesn't look like beginning any time soon either. i think i said this exactly a year ago as well but he really has to push for a loan or something between now and the end of the window.

Duh, he is paid to train, not to play games. Not first team games, not U23 games, not games for another club. No playing games allowed. In fact, if he is found even having a go at a sudoku in the canteen at lunch then he's immediately sent back to the training pitches to practice throw-ins with Serge Aurier, as it will help his development no end if he can simply rub shoulders with the best experienced pros there are in his position.

we should have sold Aurier to promote KWP to go along with Trippier.

Agree, there's no guarantees, but it's why in hindsight Onomah should have left.

I get what you mean about Scotland but I don't think that's the case here. Roberts has generally done well at Celtic and he is still one of the best players in that age group and was the star for around 2 years, but hasn't had a single call up since he moved to City I don't think. Oduwa was called up to the u20s so I don't think that is the problem. I reckon there was a fall out at some point, but I am just speculating. Hope he seizes the opportunity in Spain, Roberts was doing incredible things at u17 level.

At this point even I'm tired of even complaining about the same players. It's one of those helpless positions, where you hope for the best as you know his potential, though know deep down it won't really happen, despite seeing other players get chances elsewhere. And you can't comment or criticise as we don't know what's happening in training or they aren't good enough, but we must keep faith that the manager will give chances to the next player that is good enough.

feel as if Levy stuffed the outs up this season a bit.
If he had moved Fernando, Jannsen, GKN, Sissoko quickly, it would have allowed for some more careful tweaks of the group towards.
For EG If Rose wants to leave, we should have kept Bennetts (HG for HG) and moving along Aurier would have given us a solid spot for KWP.

It's particularly hard to stomach with KWP though. He's been good to great every time he's played at RB in the first team (as I can remember, anyway). Yet Aurier, who is a walking free-kick generator, is blocking his path to the rotation spot.

i think that harsh Auier is more than just a free kick machine, he is also a shit defender and a danger to young children in the stands with his crossing.

however just maybe if he finds some composure he might come good, but i really hope keeping Toby will mean KWP gets game time, I dont think playing KWP and Sanchez last year was viable. But alongside Toby who reads the game so well and is a great communicator there is a good chance he can get game time. If SA carrys on is form its only a matter of time though before he is replaced surly by KWP.

I actually don't mind Aurier and expect him to come good, the issue is that I still think KWP has great potential, yet Aurier is given chance after chance after chance, despite messing up, to come good, while KWP gets 2 starts and 2 MOTMs yet still doesn't get a chance. As I say Aurier will eventually come good, he will be a 7 out of 10 player then everyone will praise Poch for doing the right thing, as he makes sure his signing comes good, then KWP falls by the way side, and becomes another player who isn't good enough for the level we want to play at. But of course it is equal opportunities for all, must be Aurier working harder in training and being an all round better guy. It is an area that is impossible to critique

If Rose goes, KWP will stay as LB back up. Not ideal for him but better than nothing.
