I’ve only ever see onomah impress over an extended period in the U20 World Cup that’s it. I must have watched him play 50 games and it’s just not there apart from moments in a game. He can’t stamp his authority on a game over 90 minutes. We are now a CL team and supposed title contenders. He will never be good enough to take us to another level or even maintain where we are now.

The Sheffield Wed manager is Dutch . Don’t know much about him apart from 4 promotions in Germany. As he is Dutch he will presumably want to play passing football which should suit Josh . Plenty of chances to see him on tv as all the midweek championship games are live on the red button on sky.

Am I correct about 18 months ago KWP was ahead of TAA for England?

For his own good he should probably leave us. I would hate to see him go but we are ruining his career at the moment. Hes not getting any games and not getting any chances.

Onomah is a fantastic footballer but he can't hold his position in cm. Too often he strays into forward pockets of space and doesn't cover his full back. He contributes in advanced areas but he should be controlling the cm and playing the ams in rather than joining them. I think this is why managers keep playing him as an AM.

They used to say the same thing about Glenn Hoddle which is why one of the most talented players this country has ever produced played so few games for England whilst untalented crabs like Wilkins were regulars.Im not saying Onomah is Hoddle mark 2 but he has talents that may well go to waste. I hope not.

I remember as kid big arguments regarding hoddle as a luxury player for England. The only thing I remember as a kid is watching hoddle at WHL in complete awe as he’d single handily ripped teams apart. He was so far above everyone else on the pitch it was insane. Criminal he didn’t get more England caps and exactly the player England need now in CM. Unfortunately to even mention onomah is same breath as hoddle is slightly ridiculous.

Onomah and Hoddle are chalk and cheese. Hoddle WAS the game (in that to get anything out of him the game had to go through him) whereas the argument many of us make about Onomah is that as he isn't that type of player he needs to do a hell of a lot more on a more consistent basis to make an impact. He's got a lot of talent but he's not using it.

Hoddle was a luxury at international level because we played rigid systems, mostly 4-4-2 but not always. Play couldn't go through one player because there wasn't enough movement and rotation to get that to work. That was the problem. Everything else would have had to change around Hoddle to get him in. In the modern age Hoddle would have been turned into a ball playing centre half in double quick time. He'd have been a crap defender but mesmerising at coming out with the ball. Back in the day an English centre half was anything but a Hoddle. They were big lumps who could head it and kick it and get up and carry on when their face got smashed to pieces by the forehead of an opponent. That was all that was required. All of these things are also the reason that we were so unbelievably shit. All of this is also the reason I miss those days terribly.

Ball playing CH. In this day and age? LOL. That is the stupidest thing I've heard for a while. Are you serious?

Not as is. I was saying that in the modern era someone like Hoddle would be converted to a centre half at 14-15.
