I see in Pochettino’s press conference he said he hasn’t decided who will play in goal yet between Vorm, Gazzaniga and Whiteman, he makes a joke saying they all have 33% possibility to play.

Of course it’s insanely unlikely Whiteman will play but this could be the first step towards him becoming third choice, freeing up a non HG squad spot in time for the transfer window.

So my question is this, how good is Alfie and how good does he have the potential to be? As good as David Button or Jordan Archer or better than that?

being lazy here but i'll c+p i made about whiteman elsewhere recently when people were asking a similar question:

"I was(?) a big fan of Whiteman but he's played so little football over the past 2+ seasons that it's difficult to really hold much of an opinion on him now. When he has played he has often struggled and made a few mistakes but this could just be down to how disjointed his playing time has been ever since Pochettino took him up with the first team. Prior to that he was playing well and was first choice for England in his age group and played at the U17 World Cup back in 2015, since then though he's not even been making their squads due to a lack of exposure. In terms of style he's similar to Hugo, not the biggest but agile and quick off his line, unfortunately, like Hugo his main weakness is when he has the ball at his feet and a few times he's ended up playing us into trouble when trying to pass out from the back. Based on his most recent performances I wouldn't be comfortable seeing him line-up in goal for the first team anytime soon but obviously he's well rated within the club to be given a new deal."

tbh though i will freely admit that i struggle to rate keepers, especially at youth level. unless they stand out physically they all kind of blur into one for me. i would be worried seeing a keeper go from youth football to our first team with no senior experience whatsoever, ideally he'd have at least some senior experience under his belt(regardless of the level) before making that step but as we know poch's ideology is to bring them through internally.

Just think it’s too risky having a kid as No 3 unless they are exceptional. I’d much rather have an older experienced keeper as a 3 like Chelsea or united have done.

Normally I'd be fine with a kid but Lloris and Vorm seem unusually injury-prone by keeper standards in terms of the few-weeks-out knocks. I'd probably risk it if we're talking about Lloris and Gazza ahead of him assuming Gaz doesn't have any previous with injury problems I'm not aware of. But in the general scheme of things a third-choice goalkeeper is going to be used so rarely that they're a very good way to fill a homegrown slot, and I doubt a kid is gonna be much worse than whatever total over-the-hill trash we can convince to sit around and never play.

I was a fan at one point but over the last year or so I have seen a lot of mistakes from him and his kicking has suffered a bit for me,Keepers are a lot harder to judge I did at one point have him as the best all round keeper from the youth but that is not the case anymore, Austin is a good keeper and he has the u23 spot for now ,I am a fan of De Bie a good all round keeper who makes very few mistakes and does seem to save a lot of Pens.

Freeman is a good keeper who has not played very much football of late so it is hard to tell what is going on with him.

Joshua Oluwayemi has done well this year for the u18s and played very well on Saturday, his kicking is his weakness and will need to improve on that but he has time on his side.

As Whiteman is now he is no better than both David Button or Jordan Archer.
As good as David Button would do me for a third choice keeper!

Keanan Bennetts & Noni Madueke are mentioned in this BBC article about these English teenagers playing abroad.

Keanan Bennetts - Winger - Borussia Monchengladbach

Six feet tall, left-footed, former Spurs winger - sound familiar?

Keanan Bennetts' performances for Borussia Monchengladbach's youth side have earned him comparisons to Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale.

Bennetts signed a four-year contract for the Bundesliga side in June 2018 and immediately made an impact by scoring twice on his debut for the club's reserves, who compete in Germany's fourth tier against professional adult teams.

The London-born Bennetts' Hamburg-born mother taught him German growing up.

Being fluent in the language made the transition to The Foals an easy one, but means he may have a tricky decision later in his career - the 19-year-old could represent England, Germany or Nigeria at senior international level.

Will there be a three-way fight for his allegiance?

Noni Madueke - Midfielder - PSV Eindhoven

At just 16, Noni Madueke is the youngest on this list.

The attacking midfielder reportedly turned down professional contracts with Tottenham (where he had been playing for their under-18s at just 15 years old), and Manchester United, to join Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

"I sat down with my family and thought that coming from England to the Netherlands was going to be the best for my development," he said.

Madueke starred in the Uefa Youth League for Spurs and was also named as the player of the tournament in the 2017 Sonnenland Cup - an indoor European youth tournament in Germany.

Thought Bennetts was injured sounds like he's being doing well then.

Madueke would take a lot longer to settle as he doesn't speak Dutch but has now been brought on for PSV's last couple of UYL matches which is promising. Hear he looked decent against us today
