was sure that when he signed it was reported as a three year deal, only reference i can find of it is here though -

lilywhite is rarely wrong though so i'll take his word for it, he's also adamant that it's spurs yet to offer an extension rather than roles not signing. i remember windy a while back saying he isn't that highly rated at the club and at the time i could kind of understand it but it's hard to believe he hasn't at the very least won himself some more time given the season he's having.

I can confirm that Roles contract expires at the end of the season

I cannot see how they are not trying to extend his deal.

It makes perfect sense for him to to be developed

Yup. Even if Poch doesn't rate him, no sense in letting him leave for nothing. There's is obviously some talent there and we should extend his contract and get him a loan to see how he does.

I don’t think the signs are good for Roles. I’ve never seen him train with 1st squad and if he couldn’t get a look in with this attacking injury crisis when will he ever. In reality he is competing with dele eriksen Son lamela moura and for however decent he’s been this season he’s nowhere near that quality. Added to the fact I could see us buying someone like Clarke from Leeds to be 6th choice AM/winger next season.

Josh Onomah is out for a month with a hamstring injury.

I think he rushed his rehab when he was at Spurs in hopes of having his loan recalled and getting a chance to play with the 1st team.

Scarlett and Hackett called up for some England u15 games. And Michael Craig called up for Scotland u17s in a tournament featuring Hungary, France and England

Cirkin is at the same tournament as Craig. For England u17s. Pretty strong age group at this point and Cirkin is an ever present. Suggest 2 things, he's highly rated but also I don't think he has a lot of competition in that age group. He is probably far and away the best LB in that age group to the point he is the only one ever selected whereas lots of other players are rotated. Will be interesting to see where he is in a couple of years to other LBs who are clearly not even in contention for this age group

Townsend but..
Mason was unlucky, Ryan Fredrick ? I know he was not on the list but he seems to be doing well I was sad he went thought it was short sighted selling him.
Unfortunate for mason tbh.

Fredricks having a solid career.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Smith after he spent half a season at Mk and was unbelievable.

You’re right though Townsend probably is right if you think about his international caps as well

I would say townsend too, and bentaleb also.

Smith and Daniels have had very good careers, mad to think Bournemouth have 2 of our own full backs and we always complain over ours.. Rose aside.

Livermore has done well also, 7 is it? International caps. Played well last night. Makes you wonder if these lads are worse than our squad fillers.. If things went different.. Livermore would be perfect cover for DM in recent times and was pinging some nice cross field balls last night and forward third passes too.

Always thought carrol would make it bigger. Personally I've always thought we fucked up his career by making him a deep midfielder, from a forward / striker. He just doesn't have the presence for that role. But does have a a great finish on him. Should of used inzaghi as his role model not modric. Too late now though.

I think Smith is the perfect poch full back. Athletic but with good positional sense and also has great technique

From your last couple of posts you're clearly aware of at least some of the facts going on around Roles. Not prying and appreciate if you can't say anything, but anything you can share? Is he definitely leaving in the summer?

Looking at lads who were in contention at the end of Harry’s reign but not yet regular members of the matchday squad, or who subsequently came into contention under AVB, then a benefit of hindsight top twenty, in terms who has achieved most in their career, might look something like:

1. Harry Kane
2. Danny Rose
3. Andros Townsend
4. Nabil Bentaleb
5. Jake Livermore
6. Milos Veljkovic
7. Iago Falque
8. Ryan Mason
9. Steven Caulker
10. Adam Smith
11. Alex Pritchard
12. Tom Carroll
13. Ryan Fredericks
14. David Button
15. Massimo Luongo
16. John Bostock
17. Kevin Stewart
18. Jordan Archer
19. Grant Ward
20. Grant Hall

The likes of Nathan Byrne, Jon Obika and Dean Parrett are also having respectable careers in the Football League.

Our subsequent reserve crop have quite a lot to live up to, with only Winks to date really having done enough to put himself high on that list, though KWP and perhaps CCV might also creep in.

sterling not even on the bench for sunderland today, i know it's still early days but it's shaping up to be another poor loan. i don't know why we don't use stevenage more, surely they're ideal and amos' loan there is one of few recent ones that actually worked out well for everyone.
