Levy has plenty of ambition, he just can’t compete financially with a Soverign Wealth Fund. However he is getting us to a place where he can sell to someone who can.
Levy literally just showed no ambition. Theres a difference between competing with City for players and not buying fucking anyone.

Not where enough is being of the fact that we refused to sell Toby as they wouldn’t sell us Martial.

Isn't it a bit disheartening to think that we're already going backwards in expectations though? We pushed for the title for 2 straight years, tried again for a third year, and now we're just happy with being 4th potentially... That sucks. What do you think our players think about that?
I couldn’t say what our players thoughts are. But I’d say all of the previous three seasons we outdid what my expectations were, maybe that’s where the difference in our feelings stems from. Only now am I at a point where I’d experience mild disappointment with failing to finish at least 3rd.

Though while I’m at it, I imagine our players are thinking:

Lloris: Giroud is a **** for getting in front of me during the World Cup podium photos.

Vertonghen: Toby? Dave? Toby? Dave? I’m so torn.

Rose: Spurs sign nobody? Who is this nobody and where’s his wiki page.

Dier: Thank fuck Wanyama is injured.

Wanyama: I ate too much spaghetti and now my knees can’t support me.

Dele: mmmmm, Ruby’s purrrty

Kane: weee World Cup golden boot. Weee £10m per year minimum. Weeee new baby!

Well, you lot can keep trotting out the “Levy is the bald Jesus” lines as much as you like.

VY is an ITK I’ve followed for over ten years and as far as I’m concerned he’s never wrong.

If he says Poch and Levy weren’t talking a week ago, I believe him, and on that basis alone I’m seriously concerned now.

If Levy avoidably fucks things up with Pochettino, it will be time for his resignation.

I can't help but agree here. As I understand from the ITK posts, Levy made Poch a whole bunch of promises to get him to sign a new contract and then because he wanted to get a bargain, kept none of them. I'll be surprised if he stays when Man Utd, Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking

Do those rose tinted glasses make you think you're funny too? You probably sit there just laughing at yourself, good for you. One last thing, you don't know me from adam so don't tell me how to support my club and what I think of them. Get a grip pal, and jog on.
Well that was quite the nibble, big words from behind a keyboard ;)

Still a long way to go I this transfer window yet mate. Big players still pushing hard for exits to Europe. City and Pool look set, but I will hold judgement on the rest until the window closes.

This intrigues me, can only really think of Hazard and Willian of note.

Chelsea - Hazard, Willian, Giroud, Batshauyi, Fabregas, maybe
Arse - Rumours of Mkhi going back to Dortmund, unlikely now, Ramsey maybe with 1 year left.
Utd - Pogba seems set on staying today, maybe they loan out Martial
Us - Guess Toby, Rose and Dembele are still on the market. Please god none of our key men!

Remember the itk that said that levy is happy to spend ?

I am doubtful the itk had the connections to know what assurances were made reliably. Poch has no agent and Levy ain’t leaking anything ..

One thing that is really annoying me is that I keep hearing/reading pundits ( Harry Redknapp the latest) excusing our lack of strengthening on the basis that we have such a strong first 11 that ' player x' will wonder how they are going to get in the team- the example always given is a back up to Harry Kane. Why are we ,supposedly, the only team who cannot convince players of a team squad ethos to compete over a season in 4 competitions. It's ridiculous and there are so many examples that could be given to rubbish it- I'll give just one- Mahrez to Man City.

Ugh.

See, the reason why I'm not your biggest fan, BBLG, isn't because you're chief of the eternal optimists, it's because you're just so very unfunny.

You’re right that’s a bad argument.

However one key difference is if we are spending Mahrez money on a player it isn’t to rotate in and out. For £60m you gotta start.

A closer to home example could be that we signed Sanchez last year despite having the best defence in the league. Sometimes I think people who use this argument forget that these guys are ambitious athletes who back themselves to get in the team.

It's not the player sales we need to worry about its Pochs position that really scares me.
If he goes were in real trouble.
Next summer Poch could be the Man Utd coach and both Manc clubs could turn the EPL into 2 horse division.
It’s more about what expectations he is held to, and if he is happy with that. If this is seen as a transfer year again, and simply top 6 is fine, it’s one thing. I do, though, doubt that Poch and the players will settle for anything less than pushing for trophies. My biggest issue with all of this is the club pushed for one thing in the media, and is now selling another.

Just wondering what Poch has to say to disabuse you of your pre-conceived notion that he’s devastated with the window ?

You wind up looking pretty dogmatic when nothing will convince you otherwise...

Don't confuse Poch's public persona with his private persona.

I have no idea what he is thinking privately, but I don't put any stock into how he describes himself publicly. He is not one to wear his emotions on his sleeves.

He still has a job to do, motivating the team. He makes that more difficult if he is publicly lamenting the state of the team as not good enough.

I think Poch is pragmatic - he is happy with the team, because there is nothing else he can do with the team. I do think its telling though, that Poch had to add the part about everyone working hard now - that tells me he still has a little question mark about the commitment of a few players.

Can we please dispense with the snide insults and bickering?

Certain posters are of one school of thought, others have a different view. It happens all the time, it isn't the end of the world and I'd guess that there's stuff that's both right and wrong from both ends of the argument. So there's no need for all this stuff.

Thank you.

Its disingenuous to say we don't need to strengthen our team. Its tantamount to saying we are perfect. The club are taking us for fools.
