Im not that upset tbh. Yeah it would of been nice to unveil a new signing, But there is no point in getting someone for the hell of it.
As i said we have done this the last few windows and we have managed in the seasons just fine.

Just to add that if we genuinely have faith in our young players it will be so demoralising to see the likes of Sissoko (or any other out of form players) getting game time ahead of them

What annoys me in particular is the repetitive nature of the excuses offered by the top brass when failures like this inevitably occur. It's one thing in isolation to say people like Jeremy Peace or Villa's new owners are difficult to deal with. It's another to say this over and over again with only the proper nouns changed.

The inconsistency of other owners should be anticipated at this point. It's a distinct and obvious drawback to doing all of our business at the end of the window, and to act like the rug was pulled out on us when it happens again is disingenuous.

- Our CM is fucked. Who knows how many games Wanyama and Dembele can play. How is Winks coming back from injury and Onomah from loan? Leaves Eric fn Dier and the nightmare of loads Moussa Sissoko. The whole creativity is reliant on Christian Eriksen. Absolutely no excuse to not bring a fresh face here. THis is the position we were screaming out for quality addition. This is the middle of the park.
I am not the biggest fan of Axel Witsel eg., but if Dortmund can buy him I am sure we would have been able to give it a go as well.

- No competition for squad places. Everyone knows NKoudou and Llorente wont give anyone a hard time to kick him out of the starting XI. I believe new faces and competition is important to give 110% on training and keep focus on the pitch

- Nine key players started pre season on Monday. A week before the league to start. Another one is going to his second major tournament this year. If you want to compete in four competitions, this can srsly hurt you in the run in.

- You have positive vibes with a brand new hot shit stadium and you manage to drop the excitement before a ball can be kicked in a stadium, that neither as naming rights, nor a good name, like... The Lane?
Not even starting about ST prices the club demand...

- You (most likely) promise the coach new additions and show him and all key players no ambition at all. Standing still while others fix their problems in the Top 6. Hardly gives them a boost or faith. Who should Rose google for?

Dear Mr. Levy, I will support the club through the season as usual but I fully believe.....you have messed up and failed BIG TIME, and this could hit back soon...when our top players and coach maybe attract other offers while we missed out on Top 4.

Whilst we have a decent squad, it's pretty clear we were looking to strengthen 2 or 3 positions - we all know which ones- to keep us competitive within the top 6. I am sure the players themselves would have welcomed some new faces/re-inforcements.
Shambolic window. Levy has definitely lost his touch and it is now working against us.

When are people going to realise that the Levy transfer thing is a myth.

But there are more than 2 CM's in all of world football that could have helped this season and for the future.

You are missing the point.

It's not about "helping", it's about buying the best of the best we can possibly afford, and if there's nothing fitting that bill then we wait.

It's not about trying to buy the best of the best, then settling for good if nothing comes up.

That's how we end up with Sissoko's and Janssen's and Llorente's.

We are waiting for more Eriksen's, more Lloris', more Sanchez's.

Top drawer players who are only affordable every now and again.

We will buy less and sell less from now on I believe, but picking and choosing and having the bottle to wait out the shitstorms is what's going to allow us to keep up with the $

That's what I took from Poch interview and our business this summer anyway

The team learn that levy's assurances are hollow. 9 months from now he promises things will be different this time, the next step will be taken, investment will be made and they'll be left thinking why they should take his words seriously. That above all is the biggest problem of this window for me.

Wonder how much the naming rights deal falling through at the last minute ballsed up the plan? Levy might have put the brakes on after that cash disappeared.

I also think this not signing a player is going to be a recurring theme this season, it's going to come back and bite here on SC every time we have a few bad results.

It's this bit that is the biggest problem. We have a good team and it remaining settled after a World Cup may be of benefit too but any negative result will be blamed on failing to improve the squad by fans, pundits, general media. Those opinions don't really matter but if it gets a lot of coverage it could effect things negatively.

I will reflect with no emotion, as at the moment I am farking ballistic.

Why there is a little semblance of understanding. I fear how far we are taking the piss out of Poch. If we made T4 (which I doubt) that will be another reason for DL to procrastinate further. Any little sign of unrest from within the squad etc, will see him regrettably race to do deals quick in January to appease all.

It does not make good reading, and I personally believe DL should stick to the commercial aspect of running the club, and let someone else handle the transfers, without his interference.

And I again for one minute do not buy all the PR spin doctoring ‘all is well’.

Can we get a director of football again please. You need these people to grease the wheels of deals. Neither levy or Poch are any good at this.

Yes Levy has ushered us into a new stadium, and yes we are a lot better off financially than than we were.

But football is a compLETELY different business to what it was 10-20 years ago. ALL the clubs are now stinking rich.

Spurs are a global, international company. It would be unusual if we DIDN’T have top facilities and a modern stadium. So I’m not going to act as though Daniel Levy has paid for it out of his own pocket. He is just a shrewd businessman in control of a massive business in a very wealthy industry.

In this transfer window he has performed dreadfully.

I think we're only two players away from being genuine contenders for both the league and CL, so it's disappointing we couldn't bring in two players of real quality to help us. I'm happy we didn't overpay for what I think are average players like we have in the past, but I'm also disappointed that it seemed to be only average players that we were anywhere near close to getting. At least we've kept everyone we needed to (for the time being, anyway).

IMO this is all about the new stadium, costs have gone up as they always do. We seem also to be paying our established stars the going rate which must also have a knock on effect.
Unfortunately our lack of depth will catch up with us again.

I'm sorry man but its bullshit that just because you don't get target number one, then everything else is just going to suck. If that is the case our scouts are horrible.

Still thinking about buying one of the new shirts, I think they're much cooler than the reviews on here make them seem. Not willing to spend $140+ on one, though; I wonder how Levy would feel about an offer of $20 plus an old Portland Trail Blazers Western Conference Champions t-shirt?

Holding back contract extension announcements for over a month for this exact scenario suggest the Hierachy were semi expecting very little this window.

What’s most worrying is that it’s not over and European clubs can still make bids :(

Thanks Herc..... however i feel we have all been sold down the river....... makes you wonder if a top club sacks the manager in the first couple months of season and they come calling to poch would he entertain it

we the paying fans deserve answers & an explanation, this is not on AT ALL, whichever way you to try to spin it how good our current squad is, its common football knowledge you have to add players each year, regardless of poch claiming he's happy, we all know deep down this is not what he expected

To be fair our January signing looks to be one of the best we've done in the last 2 years so maybe thats where we should keep shopping!:cry::cry:
