Seeing as DL likes to leave transfers to deadline day. If supporters are not happy, why not wait 'till after that to renew season tickets?

Is that possible (not resident in UK).

I seriously cannot understand how we couldn't locate one competent CM option. It just truly beggars belief. We looked pretty static in midfield last year and needed somebody with a bit of guile and passing ability. Winks may be that player, but needs to stay fit.

Instead we're going to see more of Sissoko in midfield. I can't wait to see us struggle all season against bus parkers.

Given Poch is perfectly happy with no player additions and the same squad as per last May it would be good if he could re-visit the comments below that he said then and tell us WTF he was on about

“You need to be brave,” said Pochettino. “In this type of situation being brave is important and you need to take risks. It is the moment in which the club needs to take risks.

“We need to talk a lot with the club. I have a very clear idea of what we need to do. I don’t know if the club will agree with me or not but we are going to talk to create the new project or what I think we need to do together again to try and improve.”

I've mentioned it a lot recently, but if you stitch those quotes with that of the Ballague book, it means exactly what happened.

No muppet would choose to renew their season ticket based on the players we sign. Surely?

No, not enough time when the season starts tomorrow, and normally it starts in 2 weeks time.

I've finally calmed down, but still f'ing livid. perhaps I never took enough salt at the start, but really thought with the new stadium we would at least strengthen the squad, which I believe Grealish would of done, and a decent CM. never going to get a world class 1 due to we obviously won't shell out and I doubt there are many w/c that would accept being under Kanes wages.

there has been 20 pages so I don't know if any reasons or excuses have been made by those ITK. the excuses of other posters are just their opinions as non of us really know what the failure for each link was. yes most probably Levy or it could of been something like Poch's list wasn't too long, and those on it were either not for sale at any price, or the other club just wouldn't deal with us.

all we all know is if we fail to get CL at the end of this season, this window will be the biggest reason

We didn't want to pay the market rate for these players.

That really is the answer.

You offer £45-50m for Ndombele, you probably get him. You offer £65-70m for Zaha, you probably get him.

just a matter of asking as it would be interesting to know, but for 82-84 days of the transfer window thread I can honestly say I read every single post, and cannot once remember the offers we did make, so how do you know we didn't make big offers? and just still got down. where is it anywhere apart from a possible daily rag that what we bid for a player? can't remember the link, but saw we offered 48 for de Ligt but never saw anywhere that we bid for those you mentioned but was well short.

“It’s difficult to understand for people that Tottenham didn’t sign or sell a player, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently and we’re happy with our squad.”

“If we cannot improve our squad it’s better to keep it together. We believe in our squad”.

Go on, tell me he's just towing the line. Disagree with me for all I care. Call me a fucking happy clapper.

Sure it's not ideal that we haven't signed anyone.

With the apoplectic reaction on here and around social media, it's actually beyond belief that some of you actually take enjoyment from Spurs. The hatred and vitriol towards Levy and the Club is frightening and quite frankly some of it is disgusting.

I'm not saying he's happy with not signing anyone, I'm not saying he's apoplectic with not signing anyone. BUT, regarding his comments:

He's not going to come out and say "we really needed to sign players to strengthen our squad. It was a failure to not sign anyone" because that can be seen by the players he has to work with for the foreseeable future as him saying they are not good enough. Not a message you want to send, is it?

To my surprise I have managed to make it through this whole thread this evening now. And you know it's been a terrible window when NWN can't muster sufficient positivity to pop in to this thread with a creative joke to lighten the mood.

But whatever dealings we'd do would be under the spotlight. If we sold a key player and got worse people would bring that up after every loss. If we got a big name but they weren't delivering that would also become headline news.

Bringing up the window will be fair this season if we underperform, but when we splashed on The Beatles that was also a thing. Can't really be avoided.

I just think it's a different feeling here. In regards to your examples, if we sold a key player and brought someone in who didn't deliver or generally bought a player that didn't do so I think as a fanbase you could still respect the intent. Even with the Bale money spending, it turned out badly but even now I can respect that we went out and did as much business as we did with it.

So yeah in summary I just think this spotlight is different, to not sign a single player will in my opinion rightfully garner a more negative type of reaction than to try for something and fail at it. There's not much worse than seemingly not trying at all.

Fair point. But he's not Mourinho and he's never one to throw his players under the bus. For him to change tact after how long he's been in charge and how long he's had this group would be weird.

He's a good man manager. He knows his players are going to react positively.

Anyway, I'm going to laugh on Saturday afternoon after we beat Newcastle and everyone is back being mates on here.

Idont beleive there is not one sinle player in Europe, or anywhere else for that matter that would not have improved our squad.

Levy is a very clever manager and has done well to finance our new stadium, but he is terrible at transfers and should not be involved with transfers, especially because he is so personally involved in the club financially.

Whatever the cause is, it needs to change as another window like this will obviously see Poch and our senior player walk.

The trusts statement was 100% spot on imo, and the club owes the fans an explanation as to why we are the first team to not add a player since transfer windows were introduced in 2003.

And I don’t buy for a second that Poch is happy. Like fuck he is. With Jose being as stable as a 3 legged chair I genuinely fear promises have been broken and look how that worked out with Southampton.

I have always praised Levy for what he’s done for the club, but don’t fuck over the best manager we’ve seen in 50 plus years. Thats my biggest concern coming out this window.

JJ spitting some knowledge on twitter, I'll summarize the last few:
  • Club is aware of fans being upset but they are in denial (think he means the club is in denial of how they fucked up)
  • Will know if Toby is going to sign a new contract in 3 weeks time
  • Says there are no longer any issues between Poch and Toby
  • Said he can't share who the targets were or he would be "compromised"

Haha, why am I not in the slightest bit surprised by this...

Not sure if this has been discussed in here or not as I haven’t read past page 1 yet! But do we think there is any link in us not securing any naming rights on the stadium and our inactivity in the market?

Either

• ENIC are selling up soon
• The stadium has eaten the transfer budget in light of no sponsor
• No one wants to deal with Levy / Levy's prices
• The market is tough

I believe it's the third reason.
