Top 4 race as i see it. Is Levy playing the most dangerous game of poker with this transfer window....? Hold onto the money and see how the other teams start the season. If we are up there in january. Spend some money and cement that place. If we dont look like we are going to get champs league. save the money for next summer and go for the massive push for the title. It is very risky. But could be a masterstroke.

Man City - Gonna win the title again only one realistic challenger as far as i can see.
Liverpool - Gonna push for the title, but could still have issues beating the lower placed teams. Still think the germans way of playing leaves them vunerable if they dont score early. They run out of steam.
Man United - Were shit last year and somehow managed to finish second?? Cant see it happening this year. Mourinho in his third year exit strategy will make sure they are mid table.
Chelsea - New manager - New keeper - same old same old. Havent really improved on last season. could go either way for them.
Arsenal - New Manager looks like he is addressing defensive issues. But will that affect their forward momentum. havent bought anything of note. Old players who may or may not suit the premier league. But have the firepower to have a good season. If they stop conceeding.
Tottenham - 9 players out at the world cup. No new signings. But no losses of main players. New stadium could go either way. You cant beat familiarity the more a team plays together the better they know eachother. Evolution not revolution. need to stay in touch for the first 10 games. And see where we are at christmas.

So my view on the final top four

1) Man City
2) Liverpool
3) Tottenham
4) Chelsea
5) Arsenal
6) Man United

Still a long way to go I this transfer window yet mate. Big players still pushing hard for exits to Europe. City and Pool look set, but I will hold judgement on the rest until the window closes.

When you say big players @Trix, do you mean ours, or big players in general? (Pogba, Hazard for example)

The sad thing about this window is not that we bought nobody it's that we bought nobody when, with our new stadium, we all thought we were about to take off and bring in some quality, our expectations were sky high and that's what makes it worse; from the sublime to the gord blimey as my nan used to say.
A top performance from Lamella and Moura on Sunday will go a long way to easing the grieving process I reckon.
I think that’s it really. It was never about buying for the sake of it, it was more the fact that a real quality signing in the year we move into our stadium, and to have maintained our squad, would have announced us stepping up to the mark. I know there’s a raft of genuine counter arguments about why this was hard but to throw reasonable finance and effort into this can’t be insurmountable.
It just feels wilfully self destructive to not have done this, particularly when we have some weaknesses in the squad

If players that would improve us are way out of our budget or not for sale then what do you want us to do? Punts now = next years deadwood. The Sky narrative is spend spend spend and we just can’t do that. We will not win the league as it stands So do we enjoy this building a team and see where it goes or do we get new owners and buy a title? I quite like where we are right now but think it only has a limited shelf life. Wealthy American owners and gradually increasing investment building on where we are would be my choice.

Don't mind what Lamela and Moura do on Sunday, providing they play a blinder for us on Saturday. They can take Sunday off for all I care.

Got big hopes for Moura this season. Teams that set up to sit deep and counter our passing game have been our biggest problem of late. A player that will run at them, brings a whole new problem for them to think about.

He’s looked good preseason. Have you heard anything about how he’s shaping up in training, or what Poch and his team think?

Wasn't it you who said the guy who called the Dele YPOTY has put a bet on Moura for POTY. I'm pretty hopeful for Moura, the amount of times Kane whipped an amazing ball on the counter and our pace let us down last year could signal good signs for him and Mouras link up play.

So I assume we will register everyone but Janssen in the PL today. That still leaves us two over for CL - but seeing that we may still have some player movement out - that may sort itself out by the end of August.

Spurs player of the year, or the whole league?

I am hopeful too, I've seen the odd claim he and Lamella will be like new signings which grinds me a little bit however my take is that we really haven't seen the best of Moura yet and I think we will this season, Lamella we've seen the best of I just hope we'll see it all season, if we do we really will have improved substanially on last season.

One of the worst parts about this is the flat out acceptance by fans, realizing that Levy truly has no ambition to win the league and is happy with Champions League qualification. Do you know how much shit we all gave Arsenal for that?! Just happy with 4th..

Surely there’s a bit of difference in that, Arsenal fell to 4th having spent almost decade as top 2, whereas we have risen to to 3 (not top 4, top 3) for three seasons straight having spent the previous decade averaging being 5th, and pre 2006 our average final standing was 9/10th since 1992 (the last time we finished top 3 pre Pochettino, I was not yet 7 years old). For a lot of us, admittedly me included so feel free to call me unambitious, sustaining top 4 (or 3) after being a 2nd tier club for so long is still a success and something to be proud of. And so long as that’s the case, I’m willing to be patient for us to develop that final step to winning the title. If that hasn’t happened, or looked like happening even, for another half decade then I might feel differently but right now I’m loving the fact that I get to see some of the country’s best football and best players. I understand why most disagree for a variety of reasons, but that’s at least where I, and I think at least a few others, are coming from.

Didn't realise that by supporting this club and the players we currently have, you were settling for shit. My mistake, as you were(y)

I definitely don't struggle to believe, given your suggestion, that most of what you know is based on google searches though ;)

Do those rose tinted glasses make you think you're funny too? You probably sit there just laughing at yourself, good for you. One last thing, you don't know me from adam so don't tell me how to support my club and what I think of them. Get a grip pal, and jog on.

Isn't it a bit disheartening to think that we're already going backwards in expectations though? We pushed for the title for 2 straight years, tried again for a third year, and now we're just happy with being 4th potentially... That sucks. What do you think our players think about that?

Levy has plenty of ambition, he just can’t compete financially with a Soverign Wealth Fund. However he is getting us to a place where he can sell to someone who can.
