I get your point but KWP is a left back and has struggled on the right, Georgiou is not relly good enough especially on the defensive side to be a rotation player in that position, we all know Poch wants to rotate a lot there.

Vertonghen can certainly play in that position but I wouldnt want our best CB to play out of position even if it means we can play both Toby and Sanchez especialy with Foyth and CCV injured.

I guess Davies can play many games, he seems to be a player that has the stamina.

Re KWP, we only really saw him against Newport on a day when everyone was awful. I think he'll be better on the right, but I was encouraged when he came on as a left sided attacker later in the FA Cup (can't remember v who, the game where he scored) and he bossed it there for England Youths when they won whatever tournament it was last summer. I agree though, would far prefer him on the right. As for Georgiou, the criticisms of him are very similar to what the criticisms of Danny Rose were at the same age (and older).

Don't get me wrong, I'd far prefer we kept Rose, but I also understand why Pochettino might just want rid from now with the ability to re-assess in January.

I agree and disagree. Toby I really hope we keep and he signs, but Rose, even if things are okay between him and Pochettino, doesn’t seem the most stable character and I’m not sure a) what effect that will have on the pitch but b) how it could affect the dressing room. If we keep Rose then great, two fantastic left backs, but if Pochettino would rather use Georgiou, KWP, and of course Vertonghen until January when we’d go after someone then I’d understand why.

The Rose situation is a tricky one, I don’t think dragging Jan out of position is our best move or solution tbh, especially with our midfield injuries, one injury to Jan or Davies with no Rose and we’re moving players out of natural positions with a busy schedule.
We all remember how ineffective Naughton was at left back *shudders*
If he wants out then I’d hope the club look for a replacement and move Rose on in the Jan window, much like the Moura purchase it also helps us with integration and one less to shift next summer.
If Danny cracks on with things and knuckles down then all the better.

People seem to think that not buying anyone will mean that we have the same side this season. But that won’t be the case for the first 4 or 5 games I believe. With the World Cup players being introduced at various rates. If we get any more injuries in this time our team will be very threadbare. Also it means flogging Harry Kane to death again. He looked knackered in the last few WC games and has done often in the last few years. He will always play but his standard drops drastically. Also I think we are now pretty predictable to play against and nothing has been done to change that. When a team parks the bus it’s usually a bit of luck or their mistake that nicks us a goal to help us win. That will be the same as we don’t really have someone to score out of nothing. The thing we are really missing.
Moura will get and deserve more game time but a lot seems to rely him being our new game changer which I’m not that confident about.
If we don’t finish in the top 4 and play like we deserve to be there I can definitely see MP leaving as he deserves better as he is a brilliant manager and seems (from all that I have seen, read and heard about him) to be a fantastic person.
Having an amazing stadium is all well and good but it’s whats on the pitch that unites and defines us. I hope that hasn’t been lost.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we had to buy in January. I know it will be expensive blah blah, but most of our first team went a long way in the World Cup and I'm expecting a number of fatigue related injuries before Christmas. With a bit of luck we can still be in the mix come January but I wouldn't count on it.

Would make sense. I guess we won't get a full rundown like Herc gave us last year cause that was about signings and well.. you know.
Here is the full rundown of our transfer window:

Interesting from Keano there about us having tried for 4 specifically, one obviously Grealish, but we’re outpriced.

I imagine he has been fed by Donna but that doesn’t make it not true, probably just more that the club is picking and choosing what it reveals.

I'm starting to actually enjoy how much we've rattled other fans and the media by simply not signing or selling anyone. Same team as last year.

People seem to be losing their heads, struggling to criticise, put us under pressure, and make jokes about it at the same time.

"There's too much money in football...and I hate teams who try and buy success...but haha spurs bought no one....but didn't lose anyone...and they're going to get nowhere near anything...but will still bottle...umm..."

I am really looking forward to the new season.

Very interested to see how an unchanged team performs.

Assuming we keep Dembele and Alderweireld we have good opinions in every position and a few youngsters hoping for their chance.

If we improve this will be great for the league. I miss the days of keeping players for long periods.

It really helped you connect with the players.

It saddens me that fans think the only way to improve is by buying.
I don't think anyone thinks the only way to improve is to buy players, but it does show a lack of ambition and we were clearly a team that needed to add some different options in the way we could attack teams. Dembele will just never be a great passer and Winks is unreliable at this point.

Everton showed ambition last season by spending £182 million on players, they achieved 8th place !!
Same players for us should be good enough to get top 4 again behind Man C.

Interesting conversation these last few days with friends who do or do not support Spurs. Most of then saying we have a top team who pretty much all played in the World Cup semi-finals and are still young and improving. The majority of our players are coveted by other clubs and many by other fans. So I have not had any jokes just a grudging respect that we have not had to join in the player lucky dip of the likes of Everton, West Ham et al

Posts in this very thread state because we haven’t signed anyone we haven’t improved.

You said you could name loads of players in your last comment, I was merely asking who they were.

As for our scouts, of course we should have a funnel of talent constantly coming through. They were the ones that helped us unearth the likes of Dele, Dier & Foyth and who I'm sure helped make Pochettino aware of the likes of Alderweireld hitting form, Sonny, Trippier & Davies perhaps. We've kicked on this year and our transfer strategy of being either class or nobody I think demonstrates that.

I wanted players and I make no qualms about that but I won't ignore how wonderful our team is and the potential it has this summer when I've only seen a couple of players transfer to other English clubs I'd have been remotely interested in us signing if the chance was there for us to do so.

Anyway, back to my question, let us know of all the CMs you can name that wouldn't have been a waste of money and fit within our financial means and I'll check them out

This has been my problem since the start of the window and it’s also I question I have seen answered sufficiently.

This is the key to the mood within the camp; if they have signed/will sign imminently then that’s good. If this isn’t the case, consider the relationship between Poch and Levy damaged. I’m not being wilfully emotive or hyperbolic here; we were told by one of our top itk that they were going to sign early in the transfer window, an itk who got it right with Poch and Kane at roughly the same time. So if it transpires they have now not signed these deals, it’s likely a sign they’re not as happy now as they were in June

If they’d of signed it would have been announced I suspect.

We really need to sort out our scouting network, if we cant find anyone under the radar that would improve our team.
