Man City's record fee £60m, Chelsea only broke theirs to pay for a buyout clause, Man U didn't budge this summer & Liverpool I think have done their money rolling the dice, albeit on some pretty class players. With the other money spinners in their league buying 10+ players each this summer I really do think the market will start to die down now. I can see the inflation of prices start to rapidly decrease when it comes to the spiralling costs for Premier League clubs.

I think Arsenal will spend again now their stadiums paid off and if Villa get promoted they could have a splurge but apart from that, I think things will settle or players will just run their contracts down to having 1-2 years left on them and force their clubs hand a little bit. I can see the market changing for the better soon

we were told though that we were competing with everyone bar the manchester clubs

Don't be naive mate clearly Liverpool have more money than us. Look at their stadium compared to WHL & their Worldwide fanbase. Not to mention the £1bn investment the club are currently making I'm sure the club did that so it didn't lose face.

I don't believe for a second that we have the same financial clout as Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal etc. It simply doesn't make sense to think so when you look at all the things surrounding those clubs that we don't have access to yet

So media reports indicating we will sell a few players. I can only hope they don't include Rose and Alderweireld. It will be mind boggling if we sell them, as we will have a far weaker squad than last season, and also, will make it all the more disturbing why we didn't sign any new players.

Something seems weird at Spurs right how. With the delay with the stadium, no new signings and Poch hinting at player departures, the literal only saving grace is if we keep winning football matches. God forbid our results dip. This was supposed to be the season it all came together...

Actually their stadium is shit and old and they are just patching it up with few extra seats they are screwed, they need to spend big on it soon and they know it, so no i dont buy that element of your post.

I have always been appreciative of what Levy has done and there are certainly challenges relating to the new build and the current transfer market, BUT no team can look good kicking off a new season with three times more home stadiums than new players

Agree with the sentiment but not sure about your maths....3 x 0 =?

Plus, Liverpool were beneficiaries of PSG's insane 200 million purchase of Neymar, because that enabled Barca to pay an insane 140 million (including add-ons) for Coutinho.

So you don't thing that them currently having a capacity that holds 18,000 more than White Hart Lane did puts them in a stronger financial position at present when it comes to their ability to sign players?

You might be right regarding their need to build a new stadium in the future but to ignore the fact they have a larger fan base & a larger stadium capacity as extra revenue streams compared to us I don't see you having a case.

Long term it might harm them yes, but short term it's helped them strengthen their first XI

Agree. We could say the same thing regarding the World record fee for Gareth Bale. Sure they've had money to burn with that sale but would people be putting us at an advantage if we sold Eriksen for £150m? Swings and roundabouts, they seem to have spent their money well

No advantage for me personally I’d take the player over cash every time

Bit unfortunate the way that panned out....

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce says Tottenham would have signed English midfielder Jack Grealish this summer had they come in for the 22-year-old earlier. (Talksport)

How the fuck are Man Utd losing to Brighton? I mean, they spent £80m+, I thought that’d guarantee winning games like this at least.
So passive aggressive, but I'll bite. Literally no one was saying that spending money guarantees points.

But you might remember Mourinho wanting to buy a center back. And not getting one.
