As self-proclaimed President of the 'Take a Draw Now' Society, I would like to explain the origins and reasons for this August body of which I am proud to be President.

The current point of sport, from football and F1 Motor racing to golf and cricket? is to make money and more recently to 'Sports wash' rather than entertain. Although some people may derive some pleasure from the activity this is purely incidental.

The upcoming Quatar (Human Rights) World cup is a case in point. Searing heat, disruption of domestic tournaments, allegations of corruption in securing the successful bid and most importantly the dire human rights record of the host country all lead to the conclusion that the tournament is more about washing through sport the reputation of Qatar than entertaining the fans.

The doubtful ownership of Premiership football clubs by countries with a less than spotless Human Rights reputation adds confirmation of this trend. Owning a football club is not a sound financial investment so the reasons for doing so must lie elsewhere. The way to make a small fortune by such ownership is to start with a large one.

The same applies to the F1 circus this season taking place in such places as Bahrain, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia. Some of these countries don't even have roads.

The 'Take a draw now' society was formed partly as an antidote to this phenomena.

The second strand of our formation was in response to the oft recorded opinion on Spurs Community that Spurs game in particular are no longer enjoyable. Therefore, not playing the match and taking a draw is the ideal solution. We would almost certainly avoid relegation most seasons and allow our fans to spend more time with their families.

So I hope you will see that this Society is a fitting response to the current trends in sport in general and football in particular. When the fun stops : stop.
I am not soliciting funds, although contributions towards our upkeep are always welcome. (send Bank details.)

If you 'Take a Draw Now' ahead of the game it need not be played, Sports washing is thus avoided and our cherished memories of the beautiful game are for ever preserved.

Thank you for your interest and support.

Like the concept but what’s the goal of the society? Raising awareness of other activities to enjoy beyond top level sport or is it to protest the (sadly already established) overseas investment from sport washing origins?

Interesting that we’ve recently been targeted around this for action but not seen/heard any comment from the club.

Given some of the historical stuff Britain is responsible for, politicians have some neck!!

Firstly the goal (like it) of the Society is to render offside the attempts to use sport
as a device to distract the World's attention from the true nature
of the countries supporting sport by moving the goalposts of concern and playing a high line of solicitude.
Secondly to enable fans to avoid the stress of watching games
and enable them to explore varying midweek and weekend entertainment outlets, or none.
A sort of tactical Plan B.
