Well, well, well. Wawrinka knocked out yesterday, and now you can add Dimitrov to that list, beaten in straights by Karlovic.

As I type this, Li Na also tumbles, losing to Mladenovic.

Big seeds tumbling early on, hopefully Andy doesn't join them!

Why can't Murray hold his concentration for a whole match? It's so frustrating to watch!

Today was definitely one of those matches, I only saw the last set and half of the 4th. His concentration seemed to be all over the place, it seemed like he really missed the presence of a coach today, or more specifically the cold stare of Lendl.

Could go either way tomorrow, hopefully Andy does not start tight, because it could be over in a flash.

Murray bt Verdasco 6-4 7-5 7-6

That has to be one of Andy's best ever matches on clay, maybe even his best. Great aggression, patience, and he was even sliding into his shots. I was very impressed with his mental fortitude after the incident in the 3rd set where the old Murray would have imploded.

IF he can beat Monfils and the crowd in the quarters I think he could do something special here.

Can't wait for the game against Monflis. Going to be great entertainment.

Still can't see him getting past the Semi's though. Would love to be proven wrong.

It was a much better performance, granted, but he still lost his way a bit in the 3rd. Also, WTF was that giving Verdasco the game, he should have insisted a replayed point, smashed the guy and gone on.

He'll look a bit weak to some, to others it's good sportmanship.. not sure what I think, other than he shouldn't have done it

Absolute joke to let them continue to play. Could end badly for Murray :(

Understandable though because momentum in Monfils favour and just stopping that would be unfair to him. It's a great match though

Maybe I've got my rose tinted on.

Looks like he's done it, but it was always going to be the typical British way.

I thought he was done, either he completely ran on adrenaline or his legs were not as bad as he was making out. Remarkable turn around.

As for the decision to play on, Jim Courier gave some insightful comments during the commentary. Like Chris said, if one player has the momentum they do not look to stop the match. Only if both players are happy to stop, they will. Although I do wonder if it was the other way around and it was Murray who had came from 2 sets down if they would have played on... but thats just speculation on my behalf. In the end it just seemed to fire Murray on anyway.

They could have stopped a few games into the final set when Monfils was getting his arse handed to him on a plate, but didn't.

If the match had started an hour later and that was the third, they would have stopped with Murray up 2-0 no doubt, but the momentum was with Mofils so of course the French let it continue, we'd have done the same thing at Wimbledon!

Really hope Halep wins. Beautiful player, makes the game look and feel easy. Not to mention the 'sacrifice' she made would pay off.
