So wide open for anybody in that bottom half.

Personally would love to see Tsonga go all the way but it's a great opportunity for Zverev to really step up, he won't have many better chances than this.

Agreed that draw has really done Sascha a favour, but it puts more pressure on him. At 20, will he cope?

I think he will have better chances, cos in a year or two he may well be at the top of a draw with none of the 'big 5' in it.

Few shocks last night by the look of it with two of the top players in the bottom half losing (Tsonga & Zverev).

Great to see Kyle Edmund make it through to R3 would be great to see him make the 2nd week. He seems to have found his level floating around the top 50 but a good run here could see him make a few more Masters events.

Kyrios again showing why he'll never win a major with his attitude.

Not at all surprised with any of those results to be honest. Even had money on Coric beating Zverev. I wonder how far Shapovalov can go before the occasion gets too big for him. He's playing with no fear at the moment.

Kyrgios is an idiot. Yes, okay, his shoulder wasn't right, but if it's that bad you don't hit 135mph serves, and it doesn't stop your legs from moving. He looked like he thought he was the unluckiest person in the world, and it's time he realised that whatever happens on a tennis court, he isn't. Grow up, ffs, and use the talent you've got.

Could be another shock on the cards...

Federer wins first set 6-1 then loses the next two 5-7, 4-6 be a massive win for Youzhny if he can finish this off

... which he can't.

A second 5 setter must have taken some more out of Rog though.

Still wouldn't put big money on a winner of this one.

Was painful to watch in the end, Youzhny started cramping up in the 4th set and buckled under a smash he had to over stretch for. Says a lot for Feds approach to the season and just how he's focused all his energy and fitness towards the slams.

No stand out player so far (even Nadal dropped the first set)

Really want DelPo to win it this year.

One of my favourite players and seems like a genuinely nice guy.

A poor final but a nice moment between the two of them, a nice embrace between them and feel quite happy for Stephens! Felt sorry for Keys but was pleasant to see her happy for Stephens even when she was probably feeling devastated.

I think the mens side has been very unfortunate this year, no Wawrinka, Murray, Nishikori or Djokovic and Nadal, Del Potro, Theim and Federer all on the same side. Will watch the final for the moment and because I like Nadal, not because I expect a good tennis match.

This has only been going one way since the start. Anderson struggling hard but Rafa's simply got his measure.

From the Beeb ...

British tennis player Dan Evans has been banned for one year after testing positive for cocaine.

The British number four provided the positive sample at the Barcelona Open on 24 April and his suspension is back-dated to begin from that date.

Evans, 27, will therefore be free to return to action from 24 April 2018.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) said Evans "promptly admitted his violation" and it accepted his account of how the cocaine got into his system.

He bore "no significant fault or negligence for the violation," the ITF decision stated.

More to follow.

No significant fault or negligence?

I wonder what excuse he had? More to follow!

Just watched the Edmund Seppi game and Kyle has really stepped his game up.

Strong serving and showed real power and confidence in some of his ground strokes. Looks like he’s going for angles now rather than trying to hit straight winners at every chance.

If he can play like this in the quarter final I’d fancy him against Kyrios (Dimitrov may be bit tougher)

Great to see isn't it. He always had the talent and a strong forehand but his game lacked any consistency. Seems like he has managed to find that balance with intensity that served Murray so well. I guess all those years sparring together must have worked!

He seemed to step in and attack the second serve, even when it was targeted to his backhand which has been a weaker point. Shows confidence, belief and a development in his game.

Next round will be really tough. I fancy him to get the first set but tail off. Hope I'm wrong though.

I can't see Edmund beating Dimitrov. Might get a set, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Meanwhile Kyrgios does my head in. Almost as much as he does his own head in!

Can see Dimitrov picking up his first major here, seems to have really upped his game this past year, just depends on getting past Nadal in the semi, assuming they both progress.

Can not believe Edmund won, really happy for the guy. I always thought he had the ingredients for a good game but it was a case of whether he could put it all together and he seemingly has. I know this is an achievement in itself, no matter what happens in the semis but I really hope Edmund can push on and start regularly going a bit deeper in the Masters 1000 tournaments.

Awesome result, can’t wait to catch the highlights later tonight.

Think his game would match up well against Cilic in Semis but not sure if he’d be able to hit through Nadal then again he must be flying high on confidence right now.

Nadal wouldn't fancy his flat forehand one bit, but then again who would!

Making it this far is an impressive jump forward. The mens game is going through a transitional phase at the moment and there is definately room for someone to sneak in and nick a grand slam.

Whatever happens he has just turned himself into a superstar and given his prowess on clay he will be well up for the next slam!
