There is a thread on the front page at the moment about how booing our own players at half time against aalborg was wrong and against the spirit of the game.

The booing at half time was NOTHING in comparison to this. I was actually ashamed to be hearing it, it was pathetic.

Aalborg are a small club, and ofr their players that game was probably the biggest of their lives. THey came to White Hart Lane, played some good football, and to their credit got a 2-0 lead against all odds.

Then us, with our expensive international stars bring it back to 2-2, and some wankers in the crowd start chanting 2-0 and you fucked it up.

I just want general opinions people because Im surprised theres no thread already. When we are rubbing it in the faces of Alborg fans that they cant beat us at while hart lane it really does show how much of a 'big club' we are. Personally I thought it was pathetic and ten times more embarrassing than any booing that occurred.

Dont bother me if the players dont play for the fans and the shirt then they deserve it.

There have been over reactions in the past but thats football for you.

Or... We could say it was banter... Like their chants towards us... and we could all grow up and be adults

To be fair, they were 2-0 up, and they did fuck it up. Chant deserved.

 Spot on. I disliked hearing some of the fans chant that. If we were playing another Premier League side then I would be fine with it because it would be banter but Aalborg deserved nothing but respect from us.

We are suppose to be a club that appreciates good football and Aalborg played very good football. No one expected Aalborg to come out and play the way they did. They didn't shut up shop and play the Bolton tactic of route 1 football that smaller teams tend to do. Their first half performance was worthy of the Premier League.

As for their fans, I applaud them. They put teams like Wigan and 'boro to shame with the amount of support that travelled over.

If we didn't have banter with the opposition fans we would end up with an atmosphere like that lot down the road and non of us want that.

That's just friendly banter though, it happens week in week out. Just beacuse they're a small club we're not allowed to sing that?! I'm sure they took it in the light hearted way it was sung.

Hmm I dunno if it was banter. SOme people may have seen it as banter.

And saying something is banter doesnt necessarily excuse the fact that we were being manly enough to pick on a side whose team cost 2 weeks of Berbys wages

I agree with you supersonic, I was a bit embarrassed by it. I also think its asking for a fall. Imagine they had a late rally and put a few past us. We'd have looked like complete prats.

To be fair, i think they gave as good as they got and they took it in the right spirit! I think alot of the fans in the Park Lane, certainly my block applauded their fans and their players at the end so i don't think any harm was done.....

By the way, their English was better than most of our fans!

They were singing "Two nil and WE fucked it up." at the end mate so I think they understood it was banter. I think you are being slightly sensitive Supersonic and maybe should stay away from football grounds so you are not offended by the chants ;-)!!!

Im not sure.

To me it has always been a chant that you sing at fans you dont like. Its never seemed like a banter chant.

I dunno. Maybe Im not bone headed enough for football mentality.

Lol it didnt offend me. I wasnt there i heard it on TV. So it didnt sound like banter, it just sounded like all our fans were wankers.

It sounded harsh from there. If their fans took it as banter then OK fair enough I take it back.

Its not like Im a PC do gooder btw. In fact I often have nothing against the people who boo the team at full time when theyve been shit

How patronising. We are all adults (I assume) and should be able to take all chants with a pinch of salt. When fans were singing the song about Campbell hanging from a tree a couple of seasons ago, we didnt actually wish campbell to be found hanging from a tree now did we.

Banter with opposing fans is one of the most enjoyable things about going to the lane. I really despair at some people on this site and their holier than thou attitude.

Within the first twenty minutes they seemed pretty up to speed with general, global football mentality in chanting "Who are ya? Who are ya?".

As long as our chanting steers clear of teddy bears and racism then we're not doing too much wrong.

i thought it was good banter. they gave us plenty of stick in the 1st half, in english as well, so chanting back is just part of it.
Met quite a few danes on the tube before the game, they were brilliant and were really up for the game. Could have done with a few more spurs fans around when they started singing though.

I agree with Supersonic on this one. The booing is bad enough. I understand the sense of entitlement, the "I paid my money so I can do what I want" attitude, but what are you trying to do beyond expressing your opinion for its own sake? Are there people who actually think booing HELPS the players? Do you think that they don't know when they're playing badly, or can't tell that the crowd is dissatisfied without the booing? Anyway, that's another thread, so...

I think the "two nil and you f***ed it up" chants are pretty stupid. I'm sure a lot of people did think it was just banter, and I'm sure Aalborg's fans took if just fine. If it was Arsenal, I'd think it was great. We were supposed to win that game. It was never supposed to be 0-2 in the first place. They didn't f*** it up - they played well and with confidence and our superior quality beat them in the end, as it should have. It's pathetic that some of our supporters were mocking them for having the gall to whip us at the Lane for 45 minutes until we got our act together.
