I like Manuwa but i've felt all week that he was looking past this fight not that i want to take anything away from the Swiss.

Was really glad to see Dana White's reaction to Woodley's fight, he was not happy and rightly so.

similar to his reaction to Maia's unsuccessful title challenge against Silva

Damn yeah I'd forgotten about that. Was pretty similar from both Silva and Woodley to be honest, just done in completely different manors. Silva did nothing in what seemed like a very cocky and arrogant manor whereas Woodley did nothing with a ridiculously defensive and safe state of mind, plus it's not the first time we've seen a fight like that from Woodley.

Was funny seeing Bisping in the post fight show, sarcastically stating that he's really excited to see two fighters such as GSP and Woodley going at it. Gotta agree with his sentiment, could potentially be a pretty boring fight. Hopefully Dana's attitude will spark a fire under Woodley.

I'd rather see Jones V Gustaffsson next, still think that Gustaffsson won the first fight 3 rounds to 2, so it's only right that they play it back with the contentious decision. Lesner deserves to be no where near the UFC, he's clearly a cheat - If Jones does decide to move up weights then why not fight for the title?

Well he has that impressive challenge against Jones and his recent destruction of Texiera to add weight to his claims for a title shot

The only other two men to beat him are certainly well out of the title picture with Anthony Johnson retiring and DC losing comprehensively to Jones

Unless they were to give Oezdemir Manuwa's title shot I'd say Gus is the only man remotely worthy of a title shot against Jones at this time

I think that would be a great fight. Gustaffsson looked fantastic against Teixeira.

Yep was a good card.
Great finish by the Swiss guy, Manuwa was far too lax in the clinch.
How can you not love Lawler ? First of all it was an amazing story for him to disappear into the smaller federations for many years then return having matured into a fine wine, given that he initially came through in simpler days when fighters were more one dimensional. It's truly a rarity for a fighter like him to come back vastly improved and that title run was great. I love fights where you know 100% that it will be entertaining and Lawler v Cerrone is one of those. Great tactics from Lawler to try and blow him out of the water early - in Cerrones losses it's usually when he is overwhelmed and his heart is taken early on before he gets into the fight.

I don't like Woodley. He's a complaining, blame laying twat from what I've seen over the last few years. Always slighted apparently, always the UFC is against him. Well there's being clever to retain a title and then theres crap like the Maia fight. Completely unacceptable to have so little offence when you are almost completely fresh, still have your all your power, your opponent is jaded and can't see out of one eye. Completely unacceptable. Yes, he can fight like that if he wants, but if he wants fan support, big fights, big money etc then NO and it's his fault.

Good on Jones. Used to hate him and his faux religious good man schtick when he first came through. Much prefer him now he's just being himself, warts and all. Him and Mighty Mouse are the clear PFP fighters and it's not close

Yea Manuwa ruined my accumulator

Aside from him all other fights on the main card went the way I expected

Still was a great event

Lawler ruined mine :(.

It wasn't actually a great card IMHO. The 3 Championship bouts were so predictable :bored:. I know they had to happen but i'd much rather have watched another 2 rounds of the Lawler/Cerrone fight than any of the belt matches.

The reason i've fallen in love with MMA and out of love with boxing is that MMA has competitive match ups. There have been some fantastic fights recently but Woodley/Maia and Cyborg/Evinger were absolute stinkers :poop:. The best fight for me was Ortega/Moicano on the undercard which i'm pleased to see rightly earned the Fight of the Night bonus (y).

UFC STATEMENT ON JON JONES
August 22, 2017

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Jon Jones of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected following his weigh-in on July 28, 2017.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Jones, as it relates to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and future UFC participation. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed the day before Jones’ bout at UFC 214 in Anaheim, CA, and USADA will work to ensure that the CSAC has the necessary information to determine its proper judgment of Jones’ potential anti-doping violation.

Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Well I think that it is now clear that he will never change. Such a shame and a waste of such a prospect. I thought he could be the GOAT but these setbacks are preventing him.

UFC are slightly better than WWE in terms of drug testing. Look at the double standards in terms of failed tests for Brick Lesnar. Wouldn't rule out a return after a ban and a sojourn into WWE.

Setback? He's a fucking cheat, plain and simple probably been taking steroids all through his career. He is the Ben Johnson of the UFC.

Still a setback even though of his own doing. What a great waste of a talent. But then again if he has been doing all his career maybe he isn't as good as we thought. We don't know he has been doing all his career though but when you fail multiple times it doesn't look good.

There is also that story from Chael Sonnen about him hiding from drug testers, no smoke without fire.

Such a waste. I think this may very well be the end. And in fact, I have no faith that it wouldn't happen again if he was to ever return. It's ridiculous.

Life ban for Jones if proven guilty. He's had enough chances. Enough with the sympathy, he's cheating and destroying clean athletes careers.
