I had a feeling something like this would happen. Stipe was seriously underestimated before the fight. I could see in his face he was seriously pissed off with the Ngannou hype and the treatment he was getting from UFC in the press conferences before the fight. He had every right to be pissed off as well.

Dana is a joke right, he's scared to strip Connor of the title. His credibility is shot to pieces.

Great example of a great technical fighter annihilating a guy who's all about power.

Once Stipe got through that first round the fight was pretty much done.

Fuck Ngannou too. That ****'s a Woolwich fan.

I didn't know that. Christ, I was actually feeling some sympathy for him last week after he got owned by Miocic, but yeah, fuck him. He's dead to me now. I think all these disgusting goons in sport should be outed. Named and shamed. Fuck 'em all.

Cormier vs Stipe is in the works for July. They are also going to be coaches on TUF.
Should be a great fight.

I used to like Ngannou, but then I learnt he was a Woolwich fan, so fuck him.

But where does he go from here? Needs to seriously fix his conditioning.

I used to like him too until I heard about his allegiances. Now, he's big fat slab of crap and I can look back on the hiding he got from Miocic and enjoy it even more.

Smarmy Rockhold gets his lights turned off again. Still, its hard not to feel a little sympathy for him, he does the full weight cut which is a hard one for him as he drops a lot to make 185 and looks pretty drained at the weigh ins. Romero doesn't make weight and looks in great condition like he stopped trying. Was it a masterstroke of a move to get an edge ? Perhaps, yes he doesn't get the interim belt wrapped around him at the end of this fight but the overall end result is the same - an instant title fight against the undisputed champion which is something that either winner would have had to do anyway.

Anyways, Rockhold's boxing defence looks suspect again, and he's left in limbo. Perhaps a fight against Jacare for him.

Can't be bothered with Romero's whole soldier of god schtick and for goodness sake man, when you knock someone out give them a little room to digest their loss, don't get in their face and spout bollocks for a full minute whilst their half knocked silly and unable to move

Ummm well that was a thoroughly illegal win by Stephens. Knee to head, shots to the back of the head. That ref is absolute trash. Bring back Herb Dean and Big John.

The last elbow from Stephens that shattered Emmetts orbital was all kind of nasty

Could see it coming though, once Emmett got the knockdown on Stephens he started dancing around with fancy footwork and acting too cocky whilst at the same time mainly only throwing horrible sloppy overhands. Really bad mental game from him in this one

I thought UFC on Fox 28 was a credit to the matchmakers. There wasn't a bad fight on that card despite not having any star names.

This is why I now watch the UFC rather than boxing which is largely dross where prospects pointlessly beat up journeyman no-hopers so they can pad their records to get their big payday. Performance bonuses help but so does just making good fights between fairly matched opponents.

Tonight is Adelaide Byrd's comeback tour apparently. After being out of the public knowledge for a bit, she's back to her screwjob ways. It's honestly incredible that she is still allowed to be a judge. Awful, awful, awful judge.

Poor Frankie :(

Yeah it's a shame but the writing was on the wall early on. Ortega looked 2 weight classes bigger than Edgar and was just walking through his shots.

Ortega vs Holloway will be a brilliant fight between the best 2 fighters in the division. An additional bonus for me is I really don't like either of the sanctimonious twats so I hope it's an absolute fucking war after which neither are the same fighter ever again .

Very much backing Holloway. Don't like Ortega's vibe and he's already been popped for steroids by USADA in the past. Edgar is one of my favourite fighters, always comes to fight, has been in so many classic battles, and is just a consummate professional all round. He didn't have to risk his title shot but did so anyway, and thats the strength of the man. He's far from done, thats the first time he's ever been finished, but its difficult to know where he goes from here.

Yes, I'd back Holloway to beat anyone in his division right now. He's an absolute beast, although this is going to be an absolute war and it won't be easy for either fighter. Can't wait.

They both have great chins. Holloway is the better striker although Ortega has greatly improved in this department and has knockout power. Holloway is very good on the ground but Ortega is exceptional. Holloway's cardio is insane.

If this goes to the mat I can see Ortega submitting Holloway but my money would be on Max keeping it standing and winning on points or by late stoppage. It won't be boring, that's for sure :nailbiting:.

McGregor offered to fight Edgar when Max pulled out, but Dana turned him down and rightly so. It just shows that he is running scared of Ferguson and Khabib.

UFC is unfortunately picking up more and more traits from boxing in recent years though. I wholeheartedly agree with your post ..... if it had been written anytime before around 2015.

It used to be 100% purely about making the best fights and matching up deserved contenders. The advantage to fighters being company employees was that they basically couldn’t run from fights. Doesn’t seem to be that way anymore ... a crop of stars have disappeared which has made UFC somewhat desperate and fighters seem to push for nonsensical ( in terms of rankings and titles ) money fights over logical title defences and contendership eliminators. This is actually understandable from the fighters, however, as the advantage of UFC having them as employees = great fights, has switched around now as people that aren’t right at the top of the ladder are very underpaid.

I blame the Reebok deal. It is singlehandedly the worst thing that the UFC ever did, and it was entirely based on lies and broken promises.
